  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Canada, Mexico, The UK and Ireland

It seems that Trump is willing to negotiate with Canada, Mexico, the UK and Ireland. The tariffs on steel, aluminum and auto parts, and the base 10% tariff are likely to stay. For example, drug companies in Ireland seem ready to absorb the tariffs and not raise prices this year. We import more drugs from Ireland than from any other country. Also, the drug companies are definitely planning to move some production facilities to the US.
========
There is almost no reasonable scenario where there are not significant increases in prices on imported goods. Electronics should be most notable as well as energy in the North (much of which comes from Canada).
===
As a side issue, Japan tried to do what Trump is doing a couple of decades ago. Tariffs were oin place on almost everything. There was NO increase in the number of manufacturing jobs.

What will be interesting will be how long it takes before the administration realizes that with unemployment so low, there is a worker shortage even now, before the tariffs.

My 30 yr son asked it I would denounce Christ if a man said he'd shoot him if did not and I said I would not. What do you all think? My son says he's saved, and I know he'll go to heaven, but he said I basically murdered him.

Trump attempts to expand pardon power to corporations, issues pardon to crypto company BitMEX for violating Bank Secrecy Act

Trump Pardons Corporation Found Guilty of Massive Financial Crimes

Now, with Trump’s pardon of the cryptocurrency company BitMEX, those protections are at risk. On Friday, the president issued full pardons for four individuals linked to the company and the exchange itself, which had been convicted of serious violations.

BitMEX, a cryptocurrency exchange that deals in derivatives tied to digital currencies like Bitcoin, was found guilty of violating the Bank Secrecy Act. The company failed to implement an anti-money laundering program, allowing anonymous trading until 2020. This made it easier for criminals to operate with little oversight.

In January 2025, BitMEX was hit with a $100 million criminal fine and additional penalties from the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, totaling $130 million.

The pardons Trump granted wipe away these penalties and protect the company from future prosecution.

Would Jesus deport illegal immigrants?

With the national conversation focused on immigration, Americans are being forced to choose between compassion and security. But this is a false dichotomy.

As Christians, we must reject the misleading framework that pits Christian love against national identity. Biblically speaking, this is not an either-or scenario. What if Scripture affirms both national sovereignty and moral responsibility? When President Trump enforced immigration laws, critics labeled his actions “unchristian.” But in reality, Trump was fulfilling the role God ordained for civil leaders.

The Bible affirms the existence of nations, borders, and the rule of law. Genesis 18 tells us that God intended for Abraham’s descendants to become a great nation. Deuteronomy 32:8 states that God “apportioned the nations” and “fixed the boundaries of the peoples.” Even the story of Babel in Genesis 11demonstrates that God divided humanity into nations, preventing unchecked global unity under a singular power. Nations — and by extension, borders — are part of God’s divine order.

DNC along with Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries Sue Trump Over His Effort to Prevent Illegals from Voting – Three Days After Elon Musk Reveals Millio

I support efforts to stop illegals from voting and I think everyone else should too.

Trump is playing with fire with tariffs.

President Donald Trump has argued that “trade wars are good and easy to win.” But many economists have disagreed that raising tariffs sharply can improve the economy. In particular, experts have pointed to the failure of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, passed in June 1930, to protect U.S. industries from tariff increases.

Free Traders Case For Tariffs

Donald Trump’s announcement of reciprocal tariffs, scheduled to take effect April 2, predictably flummoxed globalists and free traders alike. Yet in fact, both groups should be thrilled. The real question is why they didn’t think of it first.
(And yes, there’s an answer to that.)

Big banks predict warming will blast past 2 degree C Paris limit, plan out the profit potential of a +3C degree world

Top Wall Street institutions are preparing for a severe future of global warming that blows past the temperature limits agreed to by more than 190 nations a decade ago, industry documents show.

The recent reports — from Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase and the Institute of International Finance — show that Wall Street has determined the temperature goal is effectively dead and describe how top financial institutions plan to continue operating profitably as temperatures and damages soar.

“We now expect a 3°C world,” Morgan Stanley analysts wrote earlier this month, citing “recent setbacks to global decarbonization efforts.”

Morgan Stanley’s climate forecast was tucked into a mundane research report on the future of air conditioning stocks, which it provided to clients on March 17. A 3 degree warming scenario, the analysts determined, could more than double the growth rate of the $235 billion cooling market every year, from 3 percent to 7 percent until 2030.

Wall Street knows how to run the numbers, and right now the smart money expects warming to exceed 2 degrees, explained Jain, the former investment banker.

“These guys are not making assumptions out of the blue,” he said. “They are following the science.”

That's certainly pretty clear. The science says "If we do this, we can keep it under 2". And since we're not doing it, we won't.

The Shadow Gospel

In a relatively new book, The Shadow Gospel, Whitney Philips and Mark Brockway critique the notion that Christian Nationalism explains the rise of illiberal, right-wing politics in the US in recent decades. They give evidence that the origins of illiberal politics can be found in the Neo-Evangelical movement in the 1940's and 1950's, in figures such as Harold Ockenga and Billy Graham, and the anti-liberal demonology they promoted, rooted in American Christian Fundamentalism. This kind of anti-liberal demonology was never about loving God, but about hating 'the Devil", which became increasingly unmoored from either theology or fact. Eventually, this demonology became part of popular political discourse, well beyond the bounds of religion, and it proved a convenient tool of minoritarian politics and controlling the political narrative.

US orders French companies to comply with Trump's diversity ban

The Trump administration has ordered some French companies with U.S. government contracts to comply with his executive order banning diversity, equity, and inclusion programmes, highlighting the extraterritorial reach of U.S. policies and their potential impact on European corporate practices.
The companies have been told to confirm their compliance in a questionnaire entitled "Certification Regarding Compliance With Applicable Federal Anti-Discrimination Law." Reuters has seen a copy of the questionnaire.

Out of Africa, Into Africa, Back to Africa and What's Behind Door #3?

I trying to think of how to state this analysis that I have with the scientific community on the disbursement of man across the globe we call Earth. I first want to state to my creationist friends (AMVETS and others) first though that I believe God could have gone about creating Adam and Eve in hundreds of different scenarios because God can do anything. The way Moses (and any other God-inspired authors of Genesis) wrote the first 11 chapters of Genesis though, leads me to believe that those chapters are a symbolic account of Creation personally. God didn't put more into that section because He really didn't want us fretting about it. His point was Abraham and onward - the calling of God's people.

My dialogue, with some scientific people here who adhere to evolutionary doctrines, is to have scientists (and their spokespeople) make their thoughts clearer to the general public (if you want us to follow your train of thought, explain it fully and better and include fringe thoughts without disdain). As you can read from my title, I'd like a better understanding on the "out of Africa" theory which seems to be the consensus among scientists.

I think the thought goes Homo erectus left Africa over two billion years ago. While out of Africa they branched off to Homo neanderthalensis and possibly other hominid forms. Homo sapiens started (probably from Homo Erectus who stayed in Africa) in Africa and branched out into the rest of the world 100,000 years ago (okay, these dates seemed to have changed since the last time I looked (only a year ago) - it now says 270,000 years ago.

Here is one area where way better dialogue is needed. Scientists should always preface anything they say to the general public by explaining "this is based upon the latest findings out in the field or a re-evaluation of already acquired findings; that all theories are created on dug up evidence (no speculations about "ghost hominids existing"). If there is speculation about "ghost hominids" which possibly may have existed as a linkage between two other known (fossils having been found for these two hominids) then state that in "big letters" and mark it as "the current train of thought among most scientists". I'm sure there will be disagreements so mark those as "not so popular thoughts on the subject - but give them a voice (because there may be a whole lot under the ground that may prove those thoughts right.

So, here's my first question: is the "out of Africa" theory based on skeletal remains of some of earliest forms of hominids and oldest to be found so far anywhere on Earth? Now humor me here. If they found similar hominids and close to the same amounts of skeletal remains in South America as the ones in Africa, a new line of thought would have to be considered by scientist possibly to explain the situation, yes? My second question is do the skeletal remains of an early hominid found in the Atapuerca Mountains in Spain change the timeline as to when the exodus of hominids started leaving Africa or does it question the "Out of Africa" theory altogether? These theories are based upon what type of hominid was found and how old the hominid was, yes?

So, I have heard it said that some areas of the Earth are not conducive to preserving skeletal remains. Does that not play as a factor in creating the "Out of Africa" theory? Another factor which might play into the creating of the "Out of Africa" theory would be that many parts of the world have not been searched for skeletal remains as Africa has been. In my eyes, those are pretty big factors against the "Out of Africa" theory, right? I'm not trying to disprove science here. I just would like to have a clearer picture of this whole theory and how much of it is solid evidence and how much of it is speculation.

It is difficult to find good, clear articles on all of this information. One of the posters here gave me a very good website to follow the progress of man's possible evolution but it didn't explain his migration across the world. So now, I'd like to check that information out. Any suggestions?

Dream of more planes crashing

Last night I have a dream of so many planes crashing. They were doing very awkward flight attitudes and one got inverted shortly before they crashed while some are disintegrating in mid-air raining lethal falling debris.

Hurricane-force winds and gusts were happening at the same time.

It was quite scary because the planes are crashing near me and some of the large debris were sliding on the ground at high speed only missing me by few feet. I was trying to dodge both falling and sliding debris running back and forth. It almost felt like a video game.

According to the theory of evolution, how scientifically inaccurate is this Christian sweatshirt?

IMG_0891.jpeg

For those of you not up on your pop culture references, King Kong is a giant monkey. However, this jacket’s absurd straw man that only two generations separate me from a different species has led me to another question:

According to the scientific theory of evolution, how many generations of humans would you have to go backwards through before we all turned into apes? How many generations are required to turn one species into another?

The Gospel

Shalom

This Saturday and Sunday, and on April 12th, we will have an outreach here in Salzburg, Austria.

We ask for your support in prayer that the Lord will open people's hearts, lead them to repentance through the Holy Spirit, and open the gospel to them in Jesus' name (Zechariah 4:6).

And I ask for prayer that the Lord will grant me many opportunities to share the gospel and testify for the Lord Jesus in all wisdom and clarity (Col. 4:2-6), in Jesus' name. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers!!!
May the Lord bless you abundantly (Luke 6:38) and may He bless Israel in Jesus' name. Amen!

Sole Deo Gloria

PS And I pray that the Lord will send out harvesters into His harvest (Matthew 9:38).

Boston judge holds ICE agent in contempt after man detained mid-trial

Wilson Martell-Lebron was facing two felony charges from 2020 related to filing a false application for a driver’s license. After some COVID-related delays, his jury trial began last Thursday, according to court records. Court records note that Martell-Lebron was present, with a Spanish interpreter, on Thursday, but did not appear on Friday.

The Boston Globe first reported that Martell-Lebron was detained by ICE agents late Thursday afternoon. Plainclothes ICE agents placed Martell-Lebron in an unmarked van and drove away, according to a video shared by Martell-Lebron’s defense attorneys with multiple news organizations.

Judge Mark Summerville held ICE agent Brian Sullivan in contempt Monday for allegedly obstructing justice, the Globe reported. ICE Agent Sullivan, Steven Wells, and any other agent involved in the arrest were ordered Friday to appear for an evidentiary hearing, and a bench warrant was issued for Sullivan.

State Police Trooper David Dumont testified Friday, and, according to the Globe, told the judge that “it was more or less understood” that ICE was sending someone to “grab the defendant.” [Per Massachusetts law, the troopers didn't help or hinder the immigration action.]

[Judge puts a halt to the proceedings against Martell-Lebron.]

After dismissing the jurors, Summerville also permanently dismissed the Suffolk County District Attorney’s case against Martell-Lebron due to prosecutorial misconduct.

Life's Lost Its Joy

Nothing makes me happy anymore. Things I used to find fun are just like mindless activities; I can't bring myself to enjoy them. I also hardly have the ability to take showers. With me struggling to find love or a job, life feels so hopeless. I'm saved, but I'm afraid I'll die alone without having accomplished what I could. I just want some joy, but I can't find it.
