  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This issue is too important for Trump's Executive Order alone. Congress must act

One of the most significant takeaways from the 2024 election was not tied to a single candidate or ballot measure — it was the overwhelming rejection of radical gender ideology.

Since taking office, President Trump has followed through on his commitments to remove this pervasive and damaging ideology from federal policies by signing a host of executive orders undoing the extremist gender policies implemented under the Biden administration.

By contrast, on his first day in office in 2021, former President Biden signed an executive order conflating the definition of “sex” in federal law with “sexual orientation and gender identity.” This order spawned a flurry of agency rules that undermined biblical truth and biological reality. These rules amended Title IX discrimination protections for women, attempted to permit biological men to compete in women’s sports, and mandated taxpayer-funded healthcare coverage of “gender-affirming care.”

On his first day of office earlier this year, President Trump signed an executive order rescinding the Biden order that had launched this assault on people of faith, women, children, and biological reality. After enduring four years of the Biden administration’s progressive agenda pushing for abortion on demand and radical gender ideology, a change in the executive branch's policies are a welcome reprieve from the madness.

Is this OCD or something else?

It seems like lately I've noticed that I feel as though I should be devoting more time towards God. Like a lot more. Now at first glance thats sounds like a good thing but the amount is what im curious about. Like I've gotten more i guess thoughts/feelings of not eating because I may be idolizing it because it tastes good and I wanted it. Then just now I wanted to play some minecraft but it's just this feeling of I should instead spend more time with God or that I shouldn't be playing minecraft and instead devote my time towards God or the bible. I do have a thing I try to do which is putting God first in my life and have tried to tell myself putting God first doesn't just mean reading the bible it can mean talking to God as well. This issue has just been more noticeable as of late and I don't know why. I have tried to improve my mental health and am wondering if this is a side effect. Hopefully I explained this correctly and sorry if I didn't I just wanted to talk about it and ask for some advice. I can also try to answer any of your questions so you can get a better idea of what I might be dealing with.

ADDRESS OF THE HOLY FATHER LEO XIV TO THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MEDIA Paul VI Hall Monday, 12 May 2025

Good morning and thank you for this wonderful reception! They say when they clap at the beginning it does not matter much, if you are still awake at the end and you still want to applaud…thank you very much!

Brothers and sisters,

I welcome you, representatives of the media from around the world. Thank you for the work you have done and continue to do in these days, which is truly a time of grace for the Church.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus proclaimed: “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Mt 5:9). This is a Beatitude that challenges all of us, but it is particularly relevant to you, calling each one of you to strive for a different kind of communication, one that does not seek consensus at all costs, does not use aggressive words, does not follow the culture of competition and never separates the search for truth from the love with which we must humbly seek it. Peace begins with each one of us: in the way we look at others, listen to others and speak about others. In this sense, the way we communicate is of fundamental importance: we must say “no” to the war of words and images, we must reject the paradigm of war.

What evidence is there for the historical events of Exodus, David, or Solomon?

Frankly the question I want to ask if "How do you deal with there NOT being any evidence for any of that" or "How do you make sense of archaeological evidence directly contradicting the Old Testament (the size of Israel/Jerasulem under David & Solomon for one).".

I cannot stop thinking about this question! Every time I watch any content and they talk about Moses, Solomon, or David all I can think of is that they never existed the way the OT says. If they did why is there zero evidence to support those claims? We have records to support the claims made by the OT after the alleged reign of David but it would seem that everything written in the OT prior to the 8thish century is just cultural & national narrative. I try to understand this on a spiritual level and not on a literal but I can't stop thinking about it.

Has anyone else struggled with this? Is there evidence I am missing? Is there a way to think about this that doesn't make much of the Pentateuch essentially historical fiction?

Our new Popes quotes

*Quote from Pope Leo XIV.*

I like him already:

" Brothers, sisters…
I speak to you, especially to those who no longer believe, no longer hope, no longer pray, because they think God has left.

To those who are fed up with scandals, with misused power, with the silence of a Church that sometimes seems more like a palace than a home.

I, too, was angry with God.
I, too, saw good people die, children suffer, grandparents cry without medicine.
And yes… there were days when I prayed and only felt an echo.

But then I discovered something:
God doesn't shout. God whispers.
And sometimes He whispers from the mud, from pain, from a grandmother who feeds you without having anything.

I don't come to offer you perfect faith.
I come to tell you that faith is a walk with stones, puddles, and unexpected hugs.

I'm not asking you to believe in everything.
I'm asking you not to close the door. Give a chance to the God who waits for you without judgment.

I'm just a priest who saw God in the smile of a woman who lost her son... and yet she cooked for others.

That changed me.

So if you're broken, if you don't believe, if you're tired of the lies...
come anyway. With your anger, your doubt, your dirty backpack.
No one here will ask you for a VIP card.

Because this Church, as long as I breathe, will be a home for the homeless, and a rest for the weary.

God doesn't need soldiers.
He needs brothers.

And you, yes, you...
are one of them."

Robert Prevost (Leo XIV)

the book of life and who is in it?

I'm not sure?? I've asked myself this question for a long time, and don't have 100% assurance I'm right.

My current thought is that only those in covenant relationship with God have their names written in the book of life. For example, under the Law of Moses, all Israel was in covenant with God under that system, and as such, obedience to God under that system brought about the blessings of life in God. They were all initially written up as belonging in covenant with God, and written in the "book of life."

This is not to be confused with "Salvation," however, since being in covenant with God is not a secure position until one actually receives eternal life. When that point is achieved is a matter known by God.

Even those under the Christian covenant are not secure unless they've really and truly received eternal life. Can one be a "Christian" and not yet be saved? Of course.

Paul regularly encouraged "Christians" to ensure they really and truly belong to the "Saved." There is such a thing as "Nominal Christianity." We should treat all those who subscribe to Christianity as genuine Christians, whether or not they are truly "Saved" yet or not.

2 Cor 13.5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

Just my view of it...

Howdy

I was on here years ago and got kicked off for sharing the gospel. I really angered some atheists and got kicked off. Really didn’t understand that. I thought it was a Christian forum. Anyway I’m back and thought I would see if this place was still over run with atheists leading people away from Christ or if it is actually a place of fellowship now. Second post and I’m still here. That’s a good sign.

How do I use a bible concordance and distinguish laws in the OT?

I'm trying to get into using an nasb 95 bible concordance and I'm just curious how exactly do you use it? Like do I literally just go through every single time the word is used in the entire bible to compare it? How is it beneficial and what does it reveal? Also how do I distinguish between moral laws and ceremonial laws in the OT? Thanks.

Go into the world and preach the Gospel

Shalom

This weekend, evangelistic meetings are taking place here in Salzburg.

In addition, the brothers and sisters here regularly hold book tables and distribute evangelistic literature.

We ask for your support in prayer:

+ that the Lord opens people's hearts as He did Lydia's (Acts 16:4)

+ that the Holy Spirit opens people's eyes so that they turn from darkness to light and lead them to repentance (Acts 26:16-18)

+ that the Lord Jesus will be glorified there!

May God also continue to draw the people we have already reached to Himself in Jesus' name, Amen (John 6:44).

Thank you for your prayers!

May the Lord bless you abundantly (Luke 6:38; Job 42:10), and may He bless Israel in Jesus' name, Amen!

Soli Deo Gloria

PS And I pray that the Lord will send out harvesters into his harvest (Matthew 9:38).

Trump To Sign E.O. Tomorrow To Reduce Drug Prices by 30% to 80%

"For many years the World has wondered why Prescription Drugs and Pharmaceuticals in the United States States of America were SO MUCH HIGHER IN PRICE THAN THEY WERE IN ANY OTHER NATION, SOMETIMES BEING FIVE TO TEN TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE SAME DRUG, MANUFACTURED IN THE EXACT SAME LABORATORY OR PLANT, BY THE SAME COMPANY??? It was always difficult to explain and very embarrassing because, in fact, there was no correct or rightful answer. The Pharmaceutical/Drug Companies would say, for years, that it was Research and Development Costs, and that all of these costs were, and would be, for no reason whatsoever, borne by the “suckers” of America, ALONE. Campaign Contributions can do wonders, but not with me, and not with the Republican Party. We are going to do the right thing, something that the Democrats have fought for many years. Therefore, I am pleased to announce that Tomorrow morning, in the White House, at 9:00 A.M., I will be signing one of the most consequential Executive Orders in our Country’s history. Prescription Drug and Pharmaceutical prices will be REDUCED, almost immediately, by 30% to 80%. They will rise throughout the World in order to equalize and, for the first time in many years, bring FAIRNESS TO AMERICA! I will be instituting a MOST FAVORED NATION’S POLICY whereby the United States will pay the same price as the Nation that pays the lowest price anywhere in the World. Our Country will finally be treated fairly, and our citizens Healthcare Costs will be reduced by numbers never even thought of before. Additionally, on top of everything else, the United States will save TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" DJT 3hrs ago

The Deaconess Phoebe

Paul commends Phoebe in Romans 16:1-2. Romans 16 is the last chapter of Romans and it is devoted to a series of greetings. I am not sure when Phoebe was first called a Deaconess, but the phrase “Deaconess Phoebe” seems to be familiar to most Christians. If anyone thinks that a “Deaconess” is less important than a “Deacon,” that seems to be a misunderstanding or a mistranslation.

Phoebe is called a “sister,” “servant” and “succourer” in the KJV. A succourer is one who gives help in times of need. She is a “sister,” a “ministrant,” and a “leader” in Young’s Literal Translation, YLT. The New Revised Standard calls her a “sister,” “deacon,” and a “benefactor.” She is a “sister,” “servant,” and “helper” in the New American Standard Bible. The New American Bible calls her a “sister,” “minister,” and “benefactor.” The word translated as “deacon” means “servant,” so it is difficult to distinguish between the two.

I have discussed the Deaconess Phoebe with conservative Baptists. “All Phoebe did was sweep the floor,” they told me.

Who is the Deaconess Phoebe and what did she do? It is no small matter for Paul to refer to Phoebe as a “helper,” as the NASB has it. Timothy is also called a helper.

He [Paul] sent two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia, while he stayed in the province of Asia a little longer. Acts 19:22 NIV

Scholars believe that Paul wrote the Book of Romans, as a letter, while in Ephesus. Phoebe was the courier who delivered the letter. Ephesus is 700 miles from Rome and travel in the ancient world was slow and hazardous. She probably traveled with other people, either men in her family, or servants. Paul would not have entrusted the delivery of the Book of Romans to anyone unless they were trustworthy and resourceful.

In his commentary on Romans 16:1-2, the traditional commentator John Gill says:

“The person who is here recommended was, as appears from the subscription of this epistle, if that may be depended on, the bearer of this letter …”

Why is Phoebe called a servant of the church, a Deacon or Deaconess, even a minister?

“Rather, as some think, she was a deaconess appointed by the church, to take care of the poor sisters of the church …”

Even if she never preached or taught, it is clear that her responsibilities went far beyond sweeping the floor.

Did South Korea’s legendary female free divers evolve for a life underwater? Scientists find new evidence

An island 50 miles (80 kilometers) off the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula is home to a unique and celebrated community of women: the Haenyeo.

These women dive year-round off Jeju Island, collecting sea urchin, abalone and other seafood from the ocean floor, descending as much as 60 feet (18 meters) beneath the surface multiple times over the course of four to five hours each day. They dive throughout pregnancy and well into old age, without the help of any breathing equipment — just a wet suit.

“For thousands of years, we think, they’ve been doing this incredible, matrilineal thing, where they learn from the mother how to dive at a very young age. They go out in these collectives, and that’s what they do. They dive,” said Melissa Ann Ilardo, a geneticist and assistant professor in biomedical informatics at the University of Utah.

“They’re spending really an extraordinary percentage of their time underwater.”

Man arrested after ICE agent smashed car window in New Bedford could be released soon, due to failure to prosecute/asylum status

Judge Donald Ostrom on Thursday ruled that 29-year-old Juan Francisco Méndez, who has no criminal record, must be released due to a failure to prosecute, according to a Boston Globe report.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials arrested Méndez outside his New Bedford home on April 14 as he and his wife, Marilu Domingo Ortiz, were en route to a dentist appointment. Ortiz captured the dramatic arrest on video, which was widely circulated in the media and on social media.

Questions swirled over why Méndez was arrested, as officers were reportedly asking for a man named “Antonio,” who lives on a separate floor of their building. Ortiz and the couple’s 9-year-old son were granted asylum in February 2024 after fleeing violence in Guatemala, according to the paper. Under federal immigration law, her husband is eligible for derivative asylee status.

“We don’t have any problems with this country. It’s fine for [immigration officials] to do their job but not unjustly like they did with my husband,” Ortiz told the Globe.

ICE has to hit those brown guy quotas somehow.

Trump: If you're white you're right; if you're brown, get out of town.

Trump is bringing white South Africans to the US as refugees, but what persecution are they facing?

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — The Trump administration is bringing a small number of white South Africans to the United States as refugees next week in what it says is the start of a larger relocation effort for a minority group who are being persecuted by their Black-led government because of their race.
The South Africans’ applications are being fast-tracked by the U.S. after President Donald Trump announced the relocation program in February.
The Trump administration has taken an anti-migrant stance, suspending refugee programs and halting arrivals from other parts of the world, including Iraq, Afghanistan and most countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
Refugee groups have questioned why some white South Africans are being prioritized.

Keep in mind those Afghanistans were the very Afghanistans helping US troops during that war and promised safe haven from the sure fire retaliation they and their family would be on the receiving end by the Taliban. The same Taliban Trump had released from prison.
It's patently obvious the fruit does not fall too far from the tree given the man whose Father was arrested at a Klan rally. Whose apartment buildings were actively discriminating against blacks. Who had his project manager hide Black contractors working at his buildings when associates came by and by past statements, is in fact a racist.

What is Christ's rest?

Christ said:

Mat 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am [a]gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Many believe and teach Christ's rest some how relieves our moral obligation to obey the Sabbath commandment, but is this what Jesus is teaching?

Jesus said this and still kept the Sabbath going to church reading God's word Luke 4:16 as the apostles did following in His footsteps keeping every Sabbath in the same manner decades after the Cross Acts 15:21 Acts 13:42 Acts 13:44 Acts 18:4 as the Sabbath is a holy convocation Lev 23:3 and we see that continuing on in the New Heaven and New Earth Isa 66:22-23

So what rest is Christ referring to?

Psa 38:3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

The rest Jesus is giving us when we come to Him is rest from our sins. Jesus came to save us from our sins Mat 1:21 we are not saved in our sins Heb 10:26-30

Sin is:
1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
James 2:11-12 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. quoting and contrasting directly from the Ten Commandments breaking one we break them all
Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”
Rom 14:23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.

We also see this play out in the last days

Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

Compared to the antidote found in the next verse

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

If we understand Christ rest, it will help us understand Hebrews 4 much better as it is speaking of two rests, not one.

We are invited to enter into Christ rest, just like the Israelites, Heb 4:1 but many didn't enter due to disobedience (sin) even through the same gospel was preached Heb 4:6

Why the Holy Spirit is calling us "TODAY" to come our of our rebellion (sin) and enter His rest quoting directly from Psa 95

Heb 3:7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness,

9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works forty years.
10 Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

Why there is another day spoken of, which is TODAY God is calling us from our sins and come unto Him and He will give us rest from the burdens of sin but we need to enter through faith Heb 4:2

What did the Israelites disobey during their trial of the wilderness that led them to not enter into Christ rest

Eze 22:13 Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; and they greatly defiled My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Why the next verse says there remains a Sabbath-rest for the people of God Heb 4:9 and the Sabbath rest is according to the commandment Luke 23:56 because breaking God's law is sin 1 John 3:4 James 2:11-12

The next verse clearly shows these two rests

Heb 4:10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also (in addition) ceased from his works as God did from His.

God ceased from His works on the seventh day, Heb 4:4 Gen 2:1-3 just like God commanded us to Exo 20:8-11 as we were made in His image and likeness so to enter His rest one also ceases from work on the seventh day Sabbath. Exo 20:10

Heb 4:11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience

We don't want to follow the same mistakes of the Israelites who sinned and never entered their rest in Canaan, which is a type of heaven. The same applies to us to enter in Heaven Rev 22:14

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

In Christ rest no one is in rebellion or breaking God's law, why there is just peace
Isa 48:18
Oh, that you had heeded My commandments!
Then your peace would have been like a river,
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Jesus is coming soon and we need to come out of our rebellion to Him and obey Him and His commandments, His version, God’s own personal Testimony Exo 31:18 written personally by God, His law and will Psa 40:8, It’s why we see the ark of the covenant, which holds God’s personal Testimony, the Ten Commandments written and spoken by the God of the Universe revealed at the last Trumpet before Jesus comes in all His Glory Rev 11:19 as it is the standard of what God will judge all man 2 Cor 5:10 James 2:10-12 Ecc 12:13-14 Mat 5:19-30 Rev 11:18-19 Rev 22:14-15 and removing anything God covers under His mercy seat which below sits God’s Testimony His Ten Commandments, laying it aside as to say its not for me, I do not believe that's going to work out so well as Jesus taught plainly Mat 15:3-14 Mark 7:7-13

So lets be willing to forsake our sins Pro 28:13 and come to Jesus, He will give us rest.

The future of the Church isn’t dying — it’s rising. Look at Gen Z and millennial males

Spiritual guides needed

Behind the noise of a divided culture, something powerful is happening.

Behind the noise, a revival is stirring.

Headlines shout that faith is fading. Churches are closing. Trust in institutions is crumbling. Many predict a future without God. Yet beneath the surface, a quiet revival is stirring.

Belief in Jesus is not fading — it’s surging — and the next generation is leading the way.

A new study from Barna’s State of the Church 2025 initiative reveals something remarkable: two-thirds of American adults — 66% — now say they have made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ that remains important in their lives. That’s a 12-point surge since 2021, when commitment levels reached a 30-year low.

In just four years, approximately 30 million more Americans have chosen to follow Jesus.

Even more striking, it’s Gen Z and millennials — the very generations often accused of abandoning faith — who are fueling this resurgence. Gen Z men have experienced a 15-point increase in commitment since 2019, while Millennial men have surged by 19 points. For the first time in modern history, young men are outpacing young women in spiritual commitment, flipping a trend that held firm for decades.

This is not a fad. It’s a profound awakening.

But it is also a fragile one.
