  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What does a Biblical marriage look like?

A lot of the advice from the world for ladies trying to get married says that the lady should be a queen, should look for a man who makes a lot of money and can fully support heras a wife, and that as a queen her main priority is to look pretty. The man should be the provider and should make more money than the wife.

In reality, we live in a day and age where every man doesn't have it that way. And aside from real queens of history, whose job is it really just to sit around and look pretty? Even Queen Esther put her neck on the line for her people and was able to engage her King in a way that Queen Vashti wasn't able to.

What is a real, God honoring, Biblical marriage supposed to look like?

I believe, and have heard advice from Christian women, that it is good for a woman to have her own income, to help protect her from being overly vulnerable to a man (this is also to help her in cases of potential abuse so that she doesn't feel like she has no way out and only should depend on the man in case abuse begins towards her or the kids). Ideally, we are talking about marriages that are not abusive in nature.

I believe that if a woman is going to be a SAHM, then that means the children are already in the home and are being cared for in infancy or being homeschooled for the older children, while the mom also takes care of every other household need. That is the scenario where being a SAHM makes the most sense to me as it provides a safe and secure environment to bring up children while saving on the cost of childcare and education.

If the man is only supposed to make the woman a pretty, pampered queen, is that not some sort of abuse for the man? Where does that "queen" help her husband, in what way?

I keep getting bombarded with these queen messages and it's just really confusing. I'd appreciate any input about real life marriage, and what a Godly, Biblical marriage should look like.

Alastair Begg on evangelism

Alastair Begg is quite a capable preacher -- out of 100 or more preachers I've heard over time (about 2/3rds in a wide variety of churches we visited over the years in many cities and denominations, and the rest on radio or internet), I put him up there in the top 1 or 2 in my experience. So, he will most often give an exceptionally useful and well done sermon. I don't hear Begg all the time, and have probably heard about 40 or 50 of his sermons. It had been a while since one, but today, I happened to be in the car at the time his radio broadcast comes on locally, and caught this one on telling the gospel to others.

How to best tell the gospel to others, based on Begg's extensive experience.

Today was part 3 of How to Share Christ with Someone: How to Share Christ with Someone — Part Three - Truth For Life

Many might want to start at part 1 (I just finished listening to parts 1 and 2) on the How to Share Christ sermons in the series (or even further back perhaps on the first in the whole broader series), and here's the entire series:

My Research Challenge Re Noah's Flood

1. Was the Flood story scientifically researched?

2. If so, was it thoroughly researched to see if it comported to how it was documented in the Bible?

3. If not, what parts were researched and what parts weren't?

4. Is there anything more that can be researched?

5. What is the scientific consensus of opinion on the Flood so far?

Red hats interviewed at indictment

Much like the Daily Show has Jordan Klepper go and interview the hardest core Donald supporters, David Pakman airs clips of his guy Luke interviewing them in Palm Beach for his arraignment.

Hearing some of their comments about how Donald is still President, that Fauci needs to be executed, how liberals will take down white men and that President Obama is still running the country; I'm seeing why so many folks still ardently believe that only Donald can save them from whatever it is that the Conservisphere tells them to be afraid of on any given day.

What say you?

“The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, “eternal fire.” The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1035, promulgated by Saint Pope John Paul II)

This note on the impact of “universal salvation” on the modern church begins with a somewhat frightening quote from a great spiritual writer of the nineteenth century, F.W. Faber, who seemed to have a premonition that the loss of belief in hell was going to infiltrate the Church. He says:

“The devil’s worst and most fatal preparation for the coming of Antichrist is the weakening of men’s belief in eternal punishment. Were they the last words I might ever say to you, nothing should I wish to say to you with more emphasis than this, that next to the thought of the Precious Blood there is no thought in all your faith more precious or more needful for you than the thought of Eternal Punishment.”

Apokatastasis is the heresy that claims that – in the end – all men are saved. It is a denial of hell or in the eternity of hell. It’s most famous disciple was Origen. In more recent times the theology of universal salvation (universalism) has made its way back into the Church through the apokatastasis-leaning writings of the Protestant, Karl Barth, and the Catholic, Hans Urs von Balthasar, although these men speak more to the hope or probability of universal salvation than to its dogmatic certainty (still von Balthasar popularized the notion that in view of God’s infinite love it is unlikely anyone is damned forever, even if the possibility cannot be ruled out).

“The history of the doctrine of universal salvation is a remarkable one. Until the nineteenth century almost all Christian theologians taught the reality of the eternal torment of hell….Since 1800 this situation has entirely changed and no traditional Christian doctrine has been so widely abandoned as that of eternal punishment….Universal salvation is now so widely accepted… that many theologians assume it virtually without argument” (Richard Bauckham as quoted in Will Many Be Saved, p. 130). Although Mr. Bauckham’s statement may be overly broad it nevertheless gives us some perspective on the rapid disenfranchisement of the church from the doctrine of hell (as in not preaching about hell, or popularizing the notion that only horrible characters go there, or in simply not preaching about sin).

California high schoolers revolt over LGBT ‘pride’ video shown in math class: ‘Turn it off!’

The students' teacher threatened them with 'a Saturday school for next year' for deriding the pro-LGBT video.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California (LifeSiteNews) — A viral video shows a teacher reprimanding students at a California high school who revolted against being shown a pro-LGBT “pride” video in class, in an example of continually rising tensions with the push for LGBT “acceptance” in public education.

The clip shows multiple Edison High School students registering verbal displeasure at being shown a 50-second “Pride Month” video in math class declaring, “at Edison, we should make all students feel welcome here, no matter their gender or sexual orientation. So if you’re out and proud, closeted, or even just an ally, be proud of who you are. And most importantly, don’t forget to love each other.”

The Faithful and The Dishonest

Luke 16:10-15 ESV

“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
“The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him. And he said to them, ‘You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.’”

So, what’s the lesson here for us? If we practice something a little, we will practice it a lot? What seems to be the case is that if we show faithfulness in small matters then we will also in large matters. And this sounds as though it is related to our character, for faithfulness goes to our character and to what is stored up in our hearts. So if we are faithful people, at heart, and in character, then we will be faithful in little or much, because that is who we are, in character and in practice.

And the same applies to those who are dishonest, for again this goes to their character and to what is stored up in their hearts. If they will lie and cheat over little things, they will lie and cheat over big things, too. Someone who is a habitual liar cannot be trusted. Even their confessions can be lies.

So, if those who are dishonest are not faithful with the things and the riches of this world, then how can they be trusted with the true riches of God’s grace and salvation from sin? They cannot be trusted. For they are unfaithful and dishonest in worldly matters, and so they will continue on that vein. So, does this do away with the power of God to change people, and to turn them from darkness to the light, and from the power of Satan to God? No! But I do believe it speaks to the necessity of a heart transformation of the Spirit of God for grace to be applied to their lives.

For there are many people professing faith in Jesus Christ, who are claiming God’s grace and forgiveness and salvation for their lives while they continue in deliberate and habitual sin, in dishonest and unfaithful practices. And this is because they brought the same heart and character into their “faith” relationship with Jesus Christ, and so they never died with Christ to sin, and so they were never raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God. They remained the same.

And the point of it all is that no one can serve two masters, for if he loves one and is devoted to that one he can’t also love and be devoted to the other. So, if he loves wealth and power and idolatry and dishonesty and unfaithfulness, he is not going to love God and humility, surrender, submission, honesty, morality, faithfulness, and the worship of God as his only God. He will follow after the one he truly loves, and that will be apparent by the choices he makes and how he lives.

For lip service only is not service to God, or to anyone else, for that matter. If all one does is promise faithfulness, but that person lives in unfaithfulness, then what his lips profess and what his actions do are in contradiction, one to the other. It is like the man who says he wants to be married to his wife but then he continues in idolatry and adultery. It is not a marriage if one partner is living in adultery against the other. So the one you truly love is the one you serve with your life, not the one you give lip service to.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, ridiculed Jesus, but he chided them for justifying themselves before men, and he let them know that God knows their hearts. And there are people today professing faith in Jesus Christ justifying themselves and their actions, too, by claiming that God’s grace covers it all, or that they are ignorant, when they are not. They find lots of ways to prove that they can continue living to the flesh and still have salvation from sin, but it doesn’t wash against the truth of God’s Word.

For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God. And this is so true in so many different respects, and sadly is very true regarding much of what goes on in these institutional market-driven “churches” under the name of God and Christ and Christianity and the gospel and grace. For God truly does know what is in our hearts. So, people can perform for an audience, and can even be very convincing, but the Lord looks at what is in the heart. And from out of the heart can come all sorts of evil, even among those professing faith in Jesus Christ.

For Our Nation

An Original Work / September 11, 2012

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

"in few words"

My view of the days of the Creation in the King James Version Bible is new and original. It began after my near-DEath experience with, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 4/10/1972. He offered me the KJV Bible, I accepted and today I have this:
Intelligent Design II
The Process: The heaven and the earth were created and made complete, from the beginning first days in Genesis 1:1. Washed in the waters the second day, to be made again the third day, by water only. "Reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men," and when the waters reach Planck Density, the Big Bang may occur in 2Peter 3:10.
The reason the earth, "without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep," was because of Satan's lie in Isaiah 14:13; when, "Antipas was my faithful martyr," in Revelation 2:13; according to, "murderer from the beginning," in John 8:44. The heavens were unknown.
Therefore, "Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;" Hebrews 12:2 and knew each of the estimated two-quintillion heavens from the beginning, and made them, "by water only," the third day of the Creation, in which sin existed. This would save "the seed" and nullify that heaven to super-string~M-theory, with the three times, "psaltery" and "instrument of ten strings," occur in Psalms; and the ten times, "from the beginning," occurs following Proverbs in OT KJV text. After finishing with the heavens, the Big Bang may occur, and it is today, the fourth day of Creation; not by water only, but by water and blood, and there is no sin. However, the King James Version Bible is primarily from the third day of the Creation, which came by water only and in which sin exists.
Regarding super-string~M-theory, and dividing supergravity with eleven dimensions - ten spacial, and one for Time. Using this perspective, the ten occurrences of, "from the beginning," following Proverbs in OT KJV text, may be matched with the ten spacial dimensions; leaving the three before Psalms for the Heaven of heavens, from the beginning of Time.
The logical format of the King James Version Bible may be demarcated by phrases, "in few words," in which, "from the beginning," may be used "for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years." Thus the beginning/first days occur with, "from the beginning," three times before Psalms. The second day with the two times "from the beginning," occurs in Psalms and Proverbs, and the third day with "from the beginning," ten times following Proverbs in OT KJV text. The KJV NT is third day by default.
I would think, at this point that ten strings of Documentary Hypothesis, in this configuration, may be matched with the ten occurrences of, "from the beginning," following Proverbs in OT KJV text. Looking at "from the beginning" in Isaiah 48:16, or Jeremiah 17:12, regarding "without form and void," with Adam and Eve in Jeremiah 4:23-31; I would say this may go well with Deuteronomic History and Torah. It would appear, at this point Melchizedek/Melchisedec associated with JE:, and P*:. And possibly, DH:, a third day understanding; before the Twenty-First Century.

There is much more, http://www...
"in few words:"
How the apostle Paul made known the mystery, (as he wrote afore in few words, (Whereby when ye read, ye may understand Paul's knowledge in the mystery of Christ.)
The LORD God is eternal, all powerful, and cannot be confined to the voices of, "holy men of God." He must have access to the letters of the text, even every "one jot or one tittle." This may have been accomplished by Melchizedek king of Salem and priest of the most high God, from the beginning in Genesis 14:18, the second day in Psalms 110:4 to the third day in Hebrews 7:1, and in 1611 England, 411 years before this work, Tuesday 22/02/2022.
"in due time,"
Kenneth G Redden,
Thank You, Amen.

An error of biblical proportions: Jeopardy! fans explode after ALL three contestants fail to solve simple puzzle about the Lord's Prayer

-so do you know the answer?

A question about the Lord's Prayer on 'Jeopardy' caused an uproar on Twitter

The contestants on Tuesday's episode failed to answer the 'simple' puzzle

Do you think you would be able to buzz in and get the win?

'Jeopardy!' fans were furious after the contestants on Tuesday's episode failed to answer a 'simple' question about the Lord's Prayer during the game.

Players Joe, Laura, and Suresh were unable to give the correct answer to host Mayim Bialik's question regarding the commonly recited prayer.

'Matthew 6:9 says, "Our Father, which art in heaven, [THIS] be thy name," Bialik said, asking the group to fill in the blank with the correct word.

Shockingly, the group made an error of biblical proportions by not even attempting to guess the correct answer as the stage remained silent until Bialik gave the answer.

So, do you know the word that is missing? Scroll to see if you are smarter than three Jeopardy contestants.

If you guessed 'hallowed,' you would've been correct and would have netted $200.

Immediately after Biyalik gave the group the answer, fans on Twitter started piling on with their anger and shock at the contestants' inability to answer the question.

'Today, 3 Jeopardy contestants did not know the first line of the 'Lord's Prayer!' Sad. Our Father, who art in heaven, ________ be thy name; They didn't know the answer: 'Hallowed.' Pathetic,' one person wrote.

'That’s “hallowed,” you heathens! #Jeopardy,' another added.

FROM A FRIEND

It is not the goats that are special in Morocco. It is the trees. The Argania tree is a rare tree that produces such a tasty nut that the local goats just can’t get enough. They will even climb to the top branches in order to pick the delicious nuts. Goats are natural climbers and are extremely sure-footed. Their cousins, the mountain goats, often scale high cliffs on the narrowest of ledges, so climbing on a average size tree is not a difficult task for them. Goats are herd animals, so once one goat spots an Argania tree, all his friends follow him. Soon the tree is full of goats.

The sight of a tree full of goats is hilarious but seeing this picture directed my thoughts to their herd attitude. Seeing that herd attitude here in America, most clearly seen in the younger generation's choice of values is not so funny.

How can I change myself so I stop getting ignored?

One thing that has been made abundantly clear to me in life is that the other person is never in the wrong. I have not once ever been treated in a way I didn’t deserve or have coming to me. Any conflict or problem between me and somebody else, it HAS to be my fault somehow. The other person didn’t slight me or take a dig at me. That’s just me being too sensitive. Maybe I misunderstood. Even if it does turn out that someone has been blatantly rude, abusive, or cruel, then surely I must have done something to provoke or invite it. In, for example, my mother’s own exact words, “I doubt they would have said that to me. You must be sending off some kind of signal that tells people it’s OK to talk to you that way.” So you see, even when it’s the other person’s fault, it’s still my fault.

So, what am I doing that is causing people to completely ignore and disregard me?

People cut me off mid syllable to say something, either to me or to somebody else, on a completely different subject. I might understand them doing this if I were a constant insufferable chatterbox, but it happens when I can barely get a word in edgewise in the first place. I’ve had people—even pastors—walk away while I am speaking. If I call any of this out, they’ll act surprised and swear up and down they thought I was finished. Which makes it sound as if I had been droning on and on, but I hadn’t even spoken a full sentence.

I have asked questions and had them not even look at me to acknowledge my presence, let alone answer the question. I have given detailed information about important matters, only to later have them insist I never told them that. On many occasions I have stopped speaking and even left the room, and nobody even notices I’m not there.

Online, I start threads that get no response. I can only gather that it must have been a stupid topic and nobody wants to talk about it.

What am I doing to provoke or invite this?

Blood shows what Paleo-Americans hunted 13,000 years ago.

Forensic scientists have used an immunological blood residue analysis technique called immunoelectrophoresis for over 50 years to identify blood residue sticking to objects found at crime scenes. In recent years, researchers have applied this method to identify animal blood proteins preserved within ancient stone tools. They compare aspects of the ancient blood with blood antigens derived from modern relatives of extinct animals.

A US Comedian and Two Nations Walked into a Bar - So where is the joke?

Rarely I get to post my thoughts about issues that are both close to home and somewhat international all at the same time. This is a regrettable once in a blue moon opportunity. Recently a Singaporean US comedian did a standup routine in one of the comedy clubs in the NY and in attendance was a Malaysian. She did what I would assume a standup will do - work with the crowd there. What she worked out was tearing up old wounds - sensitive old wounds. From the separation of the once single nation into two to the still stinging memory of our missing plane. If it would only have ended there... inside the club. However that was not to be. She uploaded her routine to her social media account.

When the uploaded clip went viral in Malaysia & Singapore, it literally caused an international incident. It lit a fire under the politicians of both nations. Singapore profusely apologizes to Malaysia. Denouncing her and reaffirming the shared friendship of both nations. Malaysia is dead set in punishing her. So much so we have requested the Interpol to locate her. What we intend to do with the information is not stated by our police.

With the summary done, so what do I think about it? There are quite a lot to unpack because the whole kerfuffle has many layers to it. Let's get down to it.

The "Joke"
I find it uncomfortable and in poor taste. I don't mind her using the subject of the Malaysia Singapore separation. However her delivery (facial expression & tone) seems genuine. It is not comedy in the guise of harshness but rather the other way around. And she keeps the air of superiority about her nation (even though she is no longer Singaporean) while simultaneously belittling Malaysia. Comedy about rivalry between neighbor nations rarely dig into sensitive issue for obvious reasons. Take for example joke about America and Canada. Comics will feign displeasure about the other nation and the punchline would be how much better the other is compared to his own.

Next is the joke about the missing MH370. While not the fault of Singapore in any capacity, she seem to take a little delight in delivering the punchlines. Her facial express really doesn't make things easier to overlook. With choices of phrase like "not landing" and "kill" one can hardly view it as a comedy routine. She comes of as malicious and takes all opportunity to drive the dagger deeper into the wound she opened. I can't say for certain her intentions but the vibes are none positive.

The Singaporean response
I don't fault them for trying their hardest to minimize the potential straining of diplomatic ties. Since our two nations depend a lot on one another economically. Also a lot of Singaporeans and Malaysians have family members who are citizens in the other nation. I do think Singapore really has nothing to apologize for since she is not Singaporean - she is American. I guess showing solidarity with Malaysia is a wiser move morally and diplomatically.

The Malaysian response
Emotions are running high within many circles of Malaysian society. Many feel the need to set an example of her for besmirching our nation and laughing at our tragic lost. What about me? Not going to lie I do feel angry. However my anger stops at me. I don't really want my nation to go after someone who has not broken any laws in their own country. I believe our laws can't cross the borders into another nations. If we want our laws to be respected we should also respect the laws of others. I would say proclaim her persona non grata and be done with it. No matter how hurt we may feel, we have to take the high road and be the better person in this situation. We should show the world that what she said about us is not true. But at the end of the day live and let live.

Southern Baptists Vote to Keep Out Churches With Female Pastors

""Southern Baptists finalized the expulsion of two churches with female pastors on Wednesday, after a dramatic clash at their annual convention over moves by an ultraconservative wing on multiple fronts to reverse what it sees as a liberal drift.
The ousted congregations are the Saddleback Church in Southern California, one of the denomination’s largest, and the Fern Creek Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky. They were expelled in February, but were given the opportunity to appeal the decision at the church’s annual meeting in New Orleans, which ends Wednesday.""
I truly didn't know this was still a thing in the Christian church.
It will be interesting to see how other denominations respond. Here in America at least, most denominations don't take the other to task.
