I can't bring myself to believe people who say they know not what to do when confronted with such a scenario.

People who won't get in touch with the authorities only have things to hide. If the death is really accidental or natural, there shouldn't be a need to hide. It may be painful to go through the interrogation but innocent people will pass it without incident.

Two anecdotes illustrate my concern about this.

The first occurred when I was on a sabbatical in Providence, Rhode Island. I helped a Catholic campus minister who was working with Newman chaplaincies in a few public college venues. He knew an Episcopalian deaconess who also worked at a community college. I celebrated a Mass one day for a small group, and then the campus minister, the deaconess, and I had lunch together.

Paul had just finished talking about those who were preaching to the Christians a gospel contrary to the one that the apostles preached, which was also contrary to the gospel that Jesus taught and lived. He said, “let him be accursed.” Why? Because he/they were teaching deliberate lies to the people in order to deceive them and to lead them astray. And so Paul was very concerned that at least some of these Christians were turning to this “different gospel” which was a distortion of the gospel of Christ.

The implication here, it seems, is that those who were teaching this “different gospel” were those who were seeking the approval of man and not of God. They were those who were trying to please man. And one of the characteristic traits of those who are false prophets or false teachers is that they say what people’s itching ears want to hear, and they appease human flesh. So they distort the truth of the gospel so that humans will like them. And so they tell them “pleasant things” which make them feel good.

They say, “peace, peace, when there is no peace” (Jeremiah 6:14; Jeremiah 8:11; Ezekiel 13:10,16). And they contradict the messages of God’s true messengers and teachers and preachers. For they consider the messages of God’s true servants as “negative” while the messages of the false teachers are more “positive” and inviting. And this is a HUGE deception being promoted within the American church of day, big time!

I read this description at gotquestions.org, and it was good:


Wow! So appropriate to what is being done today! For, in trying to avoid the negative and to say only what is positive and inviting to the people, these false teachers are giving the people false assurances. Absolutely! So these false teachers do not deal with the rampant sin being overlooked within the gatherings of the church today. Instead, they pacify the people in their sins so that they don’t feel guilty for sinning against the Lord. And so they tell them to just “claim who you are in Christ,” even if it is a lie.

They speak only of the blessings and promises of God, even if biblically they don’t apply to the people at all. For all God’s promises have conditions which must be met for those promises to apply to our lives. And so these false teachers habitually lie to the people so that the people will feel good about themselves and so they will feel good about the false teachers. For they tell the people that God is not displeased with them when they habitually and deliberately sin against the Lord, and that makes them feel good.


And that time has indeed come, at least here in America it has. For many are “rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction” (Isaiah 30:9). So, they have closed their ears to the truth of the gospel which Jesus taught and which his NT apostles taught, and many are they who are following after these smooth-tongued false teachers of today who are telling them what they want to hear.


And this is exactly the message that is being widely accepted and promoted within the gatherings of today’s modern market-driven “churches” here in America. And I have heard this message a lot from various responders over the years and just from “Christians,” in general. And this comes out in memes on social media a lot, too. And so many people are buying into this and thus they are absolutely rejecting the truth of the gospel for these “feel-good” messages that so many of these false teachers are spreading today.

So, the “different gospel” that these false teachers were teaching was evidently a message that was more appealing to human flesh. And it got these false teachers approval of man, but not of God. For they were teaching a “man’s gospel” and not the gospel of Christ as Jesus and as his NT apostles taught it. And that is why Paul was assuring the people that he was not seeking the approval of man, but of God, and he was not trying to please man, but God, so he would be a true servant of God/Christ.

So, the message to us today is that we must follow suit. We must not be looking for messages and messengers which are going to tickle our itching ears and appease our human flesh and which are going to make us feel good about ourselves even if we are living in deliberate and habitual sin against the Lord. We should be seekers of truth and of righteousness and not seekers of “feel-good” messages only. For it is negative to lie to people and it is positive to tell people the truth. So they have it all backwards.

Jesus' teaching on how to observe (or keep) the sabbath day seems pretty clear. He not only provided several examples of how Jews would often do good works on the day, cf. Mat 12:11; Lk 13:15-17; 14:5, but he also asked his hypocritical detractors straight out whether it was lawful to do good or do harm, or to save a life or to kill on the sabbath (Mk 3:4); or was it even lawful to heal on the sabbath (Lk 14:3). But even more than these things, and no doubt due to the hardness of their hearts, he stated plainly and unequivocally that it was lawful to do good on the day (Mat 12:12).

On the other hand, The Law and the Prophets just as plainly teach that conducting commerce on the sabbath (i.e. earning income) was strictly forbidden (Neh 10:31; 13:15-17; Jer 17:21, etc.).

So...since all this is true, it certainly appears that born again Christians in this New Covenant Gospel Age are totally forbidden to do any kind or work for income on the sabbath day (whether this be on the 7th or 8th day). Christians are locked out of numerous professions that would do good unto others such as medical, law enforcement, fire, telecommunications, transportation, utilities, etc.

Reformed Baptists, for example, conveniently ignore the OT passages cited above and declare that "emergency" or "first responder" kind of work is perfectly okay for Christians to engage in on the sabbath because they rely only on what Jesus taught. Yet, the Law is the Law! And the Law says that no income-earning work can be done on the sabbath! Moreover, Jesus never accepted any money for any of the good works he did on the sabbath -- or on any other day for that matter. So, the Reformed Baptist tend to play a wee bit loose and free with the sabbath, in spite of all their rhetoric about the sanctity of the Law of Moses today.

So, what sayest you, sabbath-keepers: Are Christians in this age forbidden to do any income-earning work on the sabbath?

Why didn’t the authors of the gospels use “that” generation instead of “this” generation, if Jesus didn’t mean the generation standing in front of him?

Thoughts and suggestions for practicum if you please

A guest preacher once ministered by making the comparison of praying in the Spirit to the winter snow pack,
that keeps a supply of fresh water through the dry months. I find this still must be applied to a knowledge of
the Lord's Will for us individually and as a part of our fellowship.

Praying in the Spirit, as v. 20 indicates, is an act of faith.

I recently tried to witness to a man whom had childhood trauma and even speaking to him about the love of God put him into a rage. He further said to me to look at all of the evil in this world and what happens to innocent children and good people. I have never met a man so full of rage and hate for God before. He was ashamed for coming out of the closet unwillingly and being exposed, after trying to hide being gay for many years. He said God never helped him or any innocent and abused children. Evil in the world and unanswered prayers seems to be the main reason why people hate God

These women came to worship God, but these two evil men used and abused their power.

The Lord eventually dealt with them and rightly so, but why did it have to come to that?

I have heard it enough times, some Christian is living in sin and I hear this:

You can't judge him/her
你不能论断他/她

You should look at your own life first.
你应该先看看你自己的生活。

You should show them love
你应该向他们表达你的爱

They have been members of the church a long time, we can't drive them away.
他们已经是教会的成员很久了，我们不能把他们赶走。

Eli knew that what they were doing was sinful, he was the stereotypical bad parent or even pastor, whatever their child or church member do, they tolerate, they don't want to rock the boat, they can't correct their children/church members, that is too harsh by far.
以利知道这些人这样做是有罪的，这些人是刻板的坏父母甚至是牧师，无论他们的孩子或教会成员做什么，他们都会容忍，他们不想搅局，他们无法纠正他们的孩子/教会 成员们，“这太苛刻了”。

Now I realise that God hardened their hearts, because of their indifference, but Eli was at fault here, he should have dealt firmly, in banning these evil men from the priest's office, the things they were doing, were worthy of severe punishment or even death.
现在我意识到上帝正因为他们的冷漠而使他们的心刚硬。以利在这里有错，他应该坚决对待，禁止这些邪恶的人任祭司的职位，他们所做的事情，应该受到严厉的惩罚甚至是 死亡。

Virtually the same scenario happened in Numbers 25, what happened these two were pierced through by Phinehas. So why didn't this happen with these two evil men?
几乎相同的场景在民数记25章也发生过，那两个人被非尼哈刺穿的事情。 那么，为什么对以利的儿子没有降下这样的惩罚呢？

I hear this all the time, something happens in a church, some Christian is in sexual sin and after multiple rebukes refuses to change his/her behaviour. We need to deal with sin in the house of God, not wait and say, let's wait and pray and let God handle it. He has given us pastors and deacons with authority to deal with this, but how often do they act like Eli and give a slap on the wrist, when they need to deal with the sin like Phinehas did and kill it, that is to disallow fellowship to that person.
我一直听到这类事情在教会里发生，一些基督徒在性犯罪中跌倒，甚至在受到多次指责之后也拒绝改变。 我们需要在神的殿中对付罪，而不是等着说，让我们等着祷告，让神来处理。 他给了我们牧师和执事处理这个问题的权力，但是当他们需要像非尼哈那样处理并杀死罪恶时，他们有多少次像以利那样行事，只是打了一下手腕，那就是不允许那个人参加团契。

Time to clean house Church, judgement begins at the house of God.

Timothy had to do certain things and we must do these things also.
提摩太要做的事，我们也要做。

We need to war a good warfare, we need to realise that our enemy, although he is defeated, is still dangerous.
我们需要打一场美好的仗，我们需要意识到敌人虽然已经打败了，但仍然很危险。

To wage a good warfare, we have to hold onto our faith tightly. In one verse it says that we have to "cling tightly" to it. We can do this because God first clings tightly to us!
要打一场美好的仗，我们必须紧紧抓住我们的信仰。 这一节经文说，我们必须“紧紧抓住”。 我们能做到这一点，是因为上帝先紧紧抓住了我们！

Also, we need to have a clear conscience. That is to have short accounts with God, to confess our sins to Him, knowing that we will receive forgiveness.
另外，我们要问心无愧。 那就是与上帝有交代，向他承认我们的罪，知道我们会得到宽恕。

Some Christians or some so-called Christians, have not done these things.
有一些基督徒或一些所谓的基督徒，并没有这么做。

Look at what has happened to them. Their lives are a wreck!

I hope your life is not a shipwreck。

Actually I'm not sure what Swatch was expecting. If you do business in another nation, you're bound by their societal norms and laws there. My country Malaysia is none to "gracious" to open displays of LGBT. That is no secret. That's why for most LGBT Malaysians they keep a low profile. Is it ideal? No, but it what it is.

To openly promote LGBT is asking for trouble. So is it any of a surprise Swatch LGBT watches got confiscated. The fact that they got away with it in previous years does not mean that the government is okay with it. Just so you know Malaysia is 60 - 65% Muslim. They are also quite religious.

One may see it as standing up for the minority LGBT in Malaysia. However the flip side will see it as a disrespect of local customs and sensitivities. What you feel really depends on which side of the fence you're on. But one thing is for certain, it was a foolish move. Malaysians are not ignorant of what is happening in the west. You can bet every last penny that we know of the "displays" in the Pride Marches.

I'm not seeing any chance that Swatch's filing going anywhere. To make things worst for themselves, they have gotten into the radar of the authorities. They will definitely find it harder to import their watches into Malaysia even if the models are not LGBT ones.
