  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have found an interpretation of the prophecy of Daniel's Seventy Sevens that I want to share with you. Back in 2001, I had been engaged in a study of eschatology and I had realized that some of the things I believed were incorrect. This sent me to scripture to see if I could find something to illuminate my search for sound, Biblical answers to the questions of the timing of the end times. I was not very well versed in the history of the passage in Daniel 9 that tells of a prophecy with a starting and ending point and the coming of the Messiah. I prayed to God to open my eyes and see what he wanted me to see. When I read through it, I became aware of the answer that I am writing this to convey. The vast majority of modern Christians see the prophecy as pertaining to the crucifixion of Jesus after a period of 69 ”sevens” have elapsed from a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. I wish there was another way to say it, but I don’t think that is correct.

Daniel 9:24 “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place. 25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
Verse 25 tells us that this is a prophetic timeline. We have a starting point, the decree, and a period of time that culminates with a coming. Gabriel tells Daniel about two different people in this prophecy. The ruler is the antichrist and the Anointed One is Jesus. He also tells us what the outcome of their comings will be. The coming of Jesus will be after 62 sevens and then, after he comes, he will be cutoff. That’s the outcome of the coming of Jesus. The coming of the ruler will be after seven sevens and will result in the confirmation of the covenant, starting the final seven years. He will then enter the temple in Jerusalem at the midpoint of that final seven and set up the abomination that causes desolation. That is the outcome of the coming of the antichrist. The Anointed One in verse 25 and 26 is the same person, Jesus. The ruler is the same person in verse 25 and 26 and is the AntiChrist. Notice that it does not say that Jesus is crucified at the end of the 62 sevens. It says that it’s after the 62 sevens. Gabriel has already stated this is a prophecy to the comings. He did not turn right around and change it to a prophecy of 62 sevens to the crucifixion. In verse 26, I added the all caps part for clarity. I believe that's the message that God is conveying. He could have just come out and said it more clearly but then everyone throughout history would have known what was happening. This prophecy is presented in an arcane way so that it would not impact the 2000 years of the Church in a way that God had not intended.

The Time Between the Testaments

I believe we are being given warning in advance of exactly when these things will come to pass. We just need to check our interpretation against what history and scripture tell us actually happened.

If we are going to check our timing against history, we need to know what amount of time we are talking about. Is a “seven” just seven years? If it is, why not just say years? The ninth chapter of Daniel refers to years over and over, yet when the predicted time periods were given for the seventy sevens, Gabriel used a different term than year. Most Bible scholars who don’t believe that a “seven” is seven years would argue that it represents seven periods of 360 days. That is largely due to the biblical prophetic equivalence of 3 ½ years, 42 months and 1260 days, all of which are half of the final “seven”. Each “seven” contains 2520 days. When you multiply 7x62x360 you get 156,240 days. 156,240/365 equals roughly 428 years. This corresponds to the time between the Testaments.

Nehemiah was among the final books of the OT. He was the rebuilder of Jerusalem and it’s walls. Now keep in mind, we don’t know the exact dates of the dedication of the wall nor Nehemiah's reforms nor the birth of Jesus, but we know they were 428 years apart because we know what year they likely occurred.

The Holy Spirit Convinces of Sin.

One thing I found when I was saved was the overwhelming conviction of sin, and the fruits meet for repentance followed. When I went prodigal and was drawn back after many a year, the same overwhelming conviction came upon me, I went bitterly, and repented; the LORD being gracious and merciful to grant to me repentance by His grace.

This little piece by George Whitefield explains it quite well:

"And, first, He convinces of sin; and generally of some enormous sin, the worst perhaps the convicted person ever was guilty of. Thus, when our Lord was conversing with the woman of Samaria, He convinced her first of adultery: “Woman, go call thy husband. The woman answered, and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: for thou hast had five husbands, and he whom thou now hast, is not thy husband; in this saidst thou truly” (Joh 4:16-18). With this, there went such a powerful conviction of all her other actual sins, that soon after, she ,“left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, and see a man that told me all things that ever I did: Is not this the Christ?” (Joh 4:28-29). Thus our Lord also dealt with the persecutor Saul: He convinced him first of the horrid sin of persecution; “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?” (Act 9:4). Such a sense of all his other sins, probably at the same time revived in his mind, that immediately he died; that is, died to all his false confidences, and was thrown into such an agony of soul that he continued three days, and neither did eat or drink. This is the method the Spirit of God generally takes in dealing with sinners; He first convinces them of some heinous actual sin, and at the same time brings them in battle-array before them: “When he is come, he will reprove the world of sin.”

And was it ever thus with you, my dear hearers? (For I must question you as I go along, because I intend, by the divine help, to preach not only to your heads, but your hearts.) Did the Spirit of God ever bring all your sins thus to remembrance, and make you to cry out to God, “thou writest bitter things against me” (Job 13:26)? Did your actual sins ever appear before you, as though drawn in a map? If not, you have great reason (unless you were sanctified from the womb) to suspect that you are not convicted, much more not converted, and that the promise of the text was never yet fulfilled in your hearts. Farther: When the Comforter comes into a sinner’s heart, though it generally convinces the sinner of his actual sin first, yet it leads him to see and bewail his original sin--the fountain from which all these polluted streams do flow." - From The Holy Spirit Convincing the World of Sin, Righteousness, and Judgment 1760

I have been through the "say the sinners prayer and you'll be saved" phenomenon a few times before I was truly saved, and the conviction during those times was intellectual, and fleeting. I also did not repent and put away my sin: I did not flee from it, I continued to pursue it, and it was very soon that I stopped thinking of God altogether.

When it comes to a deeper fellowship with Jesus Christ, and with the brethren, conviction of sin and our reaction to it are tantamount to that deeper fellowship.

New York Judge Says Donald Trump Can’t Attend Supreme Court Argument Next Week

There is no valid reason why Trump must be forced to attend this farce of a trial. It has been quite common to have no-disclosure agreements and people don't get charged for keeping such agreements quiet. That is, people don't get charged in such cases until Trump. The judge is seeking control to keep Trump there, and keep Trump off of the campaign trail if he can.

US to Israel: If you strike back at Iran, you'll do it alone

U.S. military help to Israel will be defensive only, officials say.

As Israel on Monday weighed its response to Iran's stunning attacks this weekend, the U.S. is privately telling officials there: If Israel strikes back militarily, it will do so alone.

It's an unusual message for a close ally that's spent decades receiving more US military aid than any other country in the world and whose relationship with America is often described as "ironclad."

But after months of Israel acting on its own in Gaza -- and facing tough criticism from the U.S. and other allies that its military operations have gone too far – the Biden administration made clear the U.S. wouldn't participate in offensive military operations against Iran, fearing a broader war in the Middle East.

"We believe Israel has freedom of action to protect itself and defend itself," a senior administration official told reporters shortly after Iran's attack ended. "That's a long-standing policy, and that remains."

When asked by a reporter if the U.S. would help Israel counter with offensive military operations, the official said no.

Why don't Jews believe in Jesus

The number one question I always get asked is why we don't accept or believe in Jesus. Here is the answer which I have kept as brief as possible. I am happy to answer any follow up questions asked in good faith.

The main reasons we don't accept Jesus as the Messiah is because we don't believe he fulfills the requirements. I am shocked how few Christians actually know Messianic prophecy and beliefs, at least from the Jewish perspective. The main points, but certainly not all, are the following:

1. The Messiah must be from the house of David. Jesus did not have a father and therefore cannot belong to any house or tribe which is inherited via the father. I have been told Mary is from David's line, but this is irrelevant by Jewish law since a mother cannot pass said lineage. Even if we were to give this a pass there is:

2. The Messiah is supposed to rebuild the temple. The temple was not even destroyed when Jesus lived.

3. The Messiah is supposed to liberate the Jewish people and return them to Israel. The Jews were not even scattered when Jesus lived.

4. The Messiah is supposed to establish world peace (Swords to ploughshares), bring the knowledge of G-d to the world and write the Torah in people's hearts. Jesus did not do any of this.

5. G-d calls human sacrifice an abomination in Deuteronomy 12:31, and also condemns it harshly in Jeremiah 19:4 - 5. In addition, G-d told Moses in Exodus 32 that a person cannot be punished or pay for the sins of another. Deuteronomy 24:16 restates this very clearly. We believe that G-d does not change or reverse himself, so Jesus "dying for our sins" violate this clear declaration by HaShem.

6. G-d says that blood sacrifice isn't even required to forgive sin in Ezekiel 18.

7. G-d said that the Torah is binding and eternal, in other words forever. We will never accept any theological position that HaShem has changed, altered or otherwise modified the Torah. This is because such an action would violate G-d's clear statement that he never changes or reverses himself. The idea that the 613 Mitzvot have been done away with, or there is a "New Testament" clearly contradicts what G-d has previously declared.

Hendrix at #1, as expected

(if this is not in the right place, feel free to move it around)
Hendrix is at the top, as expected. Up there with Eddie VH, Page, and Beck.
But Clapton at 35? Harrison at 31?
And can we take this seriously with Joe Satriani at 94 and Steve Vai at 127? Did they watch Crossroads?
I love Joni Mitchell's music... but seriously, not in the top 10 guitarists. I smell some inclusivity here.

Hello everyone. Not sure if this has been posted already or not but please pray for Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel and his congregation at Christ the Good Shepherd Church (Sydney, Australia). There was an attacker who entered and stabbed him and a few other churchgoers. Please pray that God would turn this demonic situation around and use it for his glory. Thank you

Christian evangelist murdered in Uganda.

A Christian evangelist who led several Muslims to faith in Christ has been brutally martyred in an eastern district of Uganda.

Sources say Ronald Twinomugisha had received text message threats before he was hacked to death on March 30. He was just 32.

Ronald had moved to Iganga district in February 2022, and by the following year had led four Muslims to Christ. These converts have all fled elsewhere, after receiving threats from their own families.

‘In March 2023, Twinomugisha came to my office and reported threatening messages from Muslims,’ area chairperson Gozan Waiswa told Morning Star News. ‘Their complaint was him changing Muslims to Christianity.’

On the night he was killed neighbours saw men in Islamic attire enter Ronald’s home, at about 7:00 pm. The following morning neighbours found his body in a pool of blood outside his compound. According to one source, the attackers had left a note saying, ‘We learned what you have been teaching, and misleading Muslims and leading them to a wrong religion from the course and path of Allah.’ Local Ugandan police have launched a hunt for the four suspects.

Prayer Points
  • Please pray for those who mourn Ronald Twinomugisha’s death, and for the church in the area where he actively shared the gospel. Pray for courage, faithfulness and protection in the face of violent opposition.
  • Pray for those former Muslims Ronald had led to faith in Christ; that despite opposition from their own families, they may continue to grow in faith and may find the support of loving Christian communities.

IRS Numbers Shred Biden’s “Fair Share” Platitudes

Do wealthy Americans pay their “fair share” of income taxes?

If “fair” is defined as a reasonable equilibrium between someone’s share of income earned and their share of income taxes paid, then wealthier Americans actually pay more than their fair share.

That might surprise many people, but it’s the inescapable takeaway from the latest Internal Revenue Service (IRS) numbers.

It would certainly surprise Joe Biden, to the extent that he ever engages in thoughtful self-reflection. Oblivious to the facts, however, Biden instead continues to rationalize his relentless effort to raise taxes by insisting that he simply seeks to make the wealthy pay their “fair share.”

With this week’s grim news that the federal budget deficit has already reached a whopping $1.1 trillion just halfway through the 2024 fiscal year, Biden’s motive for raising taxes is obvious, even if his fidelity to facts leaves much to be desired. The problem isn’t that Americans are undertaxed, it’s that Biden and the federal government are overspending.

As for Biden’s “fair share” rhetoric, the IRS data eviscerates his claims.

For the 2021 tax year, the latest fully available to the public, the top 1% of income earners (Americans with incomes above $682,577) earned 26.3% of the nation’s income. But then take a look at the portion of the nation’s total income taxes that they paid: 45.8%. Accordingly, the portion of total income taxes paid is nearly twice as high as their portion of total income earned.

Under what form of logic can that gross disparity be characterized as “not paying their fair share?” Even the most stubborn leftists must experience an episode of cognitive dissonance upon the realization.

When it comes to the top 5% of income earners (those with incomes above $252,840), a similar imbalance exists. They earned 42.0% of the nation’s total income, but paid a lopsided 65.6% of the nation’s total income taxes. In other words, the top 5% is paying almost two-thirds of all income taxes, while their ratio of income on which they’re paying those taxes is well under half.

Moving down to the top 10% of Americans (those earning above $169,800), they earned 52.6% of the nation’s total income, but accounted for 75.8% of all income taxes paid – over three-fourths.

Even Biden himself would begin to detect a logical trend here.

Continuing to expand the income bracket survey, the top 25% of income earners (incomes above $94,440) accounted for 72.1% of the nation’s total income, but paid 89.2% of the federal government’s income tax share.

The Swastika and the Shatkona

The universality of both symbols suggests a common point of origin. It must have been a place where people had a common language, had a unified social structure and belief system — all bound together by a single paramount figure. This place would have been brimming with high sorcery, to the extent where its citizens thought they could supplant their own Creator. This would have been the first One World Government.

'Restore Real Value': House Panel Wants to Give Junior Enlisted Troops 15% Pay Raise

The military's most junior service members should get a 15% hike in their base pay in order to "restore real value" to military pay, a key bipartisan congressional panel formed to improve the lives of troops said Thursday.

The recommendation on boosting paychecks is part of the final report from the House Armed Services Committee's military quality-of-life panel, a group of Republican and Democratic lawmakers that spent months analyzing service members' pay, housing, health care, child care and spouse employment.

The panel hopes to use the report to push improvements for troops this year. It also calls for a raft of other changes: increased allowances for housing and food insecurity; fully funded barracks renovations; exploring barracks privatization; offering more competitive pay for child care workers; evaluating health care access standards; and making permanent a pilot program for fellowships for military spouses, among other recommendations.

Biden Let U.N. Sanctions on Iran Missiles Expire Before Unprecedented Israel Attack

Critics of the Biden administration noted in the aftermath of the attack that Iran has had nearly five months to legally expand its development of drone and ballistic missile technology after “transition day,” October 18, 2023. As part of former President Barack Obama’s catastrophic 2015 “Iran nuclear deal,” known formally as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the United Nations Security Council imposed limits on Iran’s ballistic missile and drone programs. The signatories to the agreement chose October 18 as an automatic expiration deadline, presumably expecting Iran to abide by the deal and earn the termination.
That's our Joe.

Bad Company Ruins Good Morals

“What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, ‘Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.’ Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company ruins good morals.’ Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.” (1 Corinthians 15:32-34 ESV)

The discussion that Paul was having with the Corinthian church was on the subject matter of the resurrection of the dead. Some believed in the resurrection, but some did not, so he was making a case for the belief in the resurrection from the dead, as Jesus Christ had been raised, and as all of Jesus’ followers will one day be raised when Jesus Christ returns for his faithful ones and he takes us to be with him for eternity. But I am not going to enter into that subject in detail as he did, so please read chapter 15.

“For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.” (1 Corinthians 15:16-19 ESV)
“I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:50-52 ESV)

So, what is the overall message being taught here? It is that we cannot just believe part of the gospel message and not all of it. We cannot pick and choose what we want to believe and accept while we reject the rest. And that is what is largely happening today, at least here in America, and perhaps in other nations, too. So many people are just picking out the parts of the gospel that they like, those which give them comfort, while they choose to ignore anything that does not agree with their human theologies.

But what is the result of that? Many indeed have this mindset of “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” And this isn’t just about whether or not they believe that the dead will be raised, but it is about whether or not they believe that they will die in their sins and that they will not have eternal life with God if they continue in deliberate and habitual sin against the Lord and if they do not surrender their lives to Christ as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to him, in walks of obedience to his commands and not in sin.

For this really is the BIG issue plaguing the church here in America today. And it is the one that I must, by the grace of God, bring to the attention of those professing faith in Jesus Christ, in order to let all know that true faith in Jesus Christ results in us dying with Christ to sin, not just once, but daily, and it results in us walking in obedience to his commands (New Covenant) in holy living. But if we continue in deliberate and habitual sin, and not in walks of obedience to God, then we will not inherit eternal life with God.

But a lot of people dismiss that as “works salvation” even though it is what Jesus clearly taught, and it is what his NT apostles taught. And so the Lord is saying to the American church today: “Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.” For Jesus said that not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING the will of God the Father who is in heaven (Matthew 7:21-23; 1 Corinthians 15:34).

So, don’t be deceived. “Bad company ruins good morals.” Many are they today who are preaching an altered gospel message absent of God’s requirements for dying with him to sin daily and us walking in obedience to his commands in holy living, in practice, if we want to have salvation from sin and eternal life with God. So the Lord is indeed calling out to the adulterous church here in America (and perhaps elsewhere), and he is telling them to wake up from their drunken stupor and to not practice sinning.

For, if you do not die with Christ to sin, and if you do not walk with him in obedience to his commands, in practice, then your faith is futile and you are still dead in your sins. For if we don’t die with Christ to sin we are still of the flesh, and the flesh cannot inherit eternal life with God, only those who are born of the Spirit who are walking in obedience to the Lord and who are no longer making sin their practice. For flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to what is spiritual and is of God.

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV)

The Lord’s Anointed

An Original Work / December 16, 2011
Based off Isaiah 61

The Spirit of the Sov’reign Lord on me;
Anointed to preach the Good News;
Sent me to bind up the brokenhearted;
Proclaim freedom for the captives.
He sent me to preach release for pris’ners
Who are walking in sin’s darkness;
Proclaim God’s grace to all men who’ll listen;
And tell them about God’s judgments;
Comfort all who mourn;
Give crowns of beauty;
Oil of gladness and thanksgiving.

They will be called oaks of God’s righteousness,
A planting of our Savior, God,
For the display of our Lord’s splendor, and
They will rebuild God’s holy church.
God will renew them, and will restore them,
And you’ll be called priests of the Lord.
You will be ministers of our God, and
You will rejoice in salvation.
The Lord loves justice;
He is faithful to
Reward those who are seeking Him.

I delight greatly in the Lord;
My soul rejoices in my Savior, God.
He has clothed me with His salvation,
And in a robe of His righteousness.
He has given me priestly garments to wear,
As the bride of Jesus Christ.
As the garden of our Lord and Savior,
He causes us to grow in Him.
He makes righteousness,
Praise, and thanksgiving
Spring up before all the nations.

Do Christians have to stand with Israel?

I pray for peace on both sides but I automatically see many Christians choosing to stand with Israel despite their government obvious war crimes and the country’s law against Christians. Is there anywhere in scripture especially in the New Testament where Jesus says we must have support Israel through almost anything?

Not liking this verse, James 5:14-16, elders praying for the sick,

Hi,

So I dont like this verse, reason is why cant we as christians pray for our own healing, why depend on others, why depend on the elders. Depending on others, people can abuse if u know what I mean, some elders think, I have the power, u not or something like this.

James 5:14-16 KJVIs any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Speaker Johnson Announces Major New Election Integrity Legislation Following Trump Meeting

“Every single person who registers to vote in a Federal election must prove they’re an American citizen first” under the bill, Johnson told reporters. “Our bill would put us on par with virtually every other democracy around the world that also prohibits non-citizen voting.”

This is one bill the country should be able to get together on.
