Everything in life requires work, whether it be earning money, passing a class, or simply caring for a home. In fact, nearly every opportunity to make a difference requires work. Thomas Edison summed this up in his statement: “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” Our society would fall to pieces if there was no such thing as hard work.
Many people become dissatisfied with themselves if they don’t give their all to their work. They end up depressed later in life because they don’t have the jobs they could have had if they had just given their all into learning the skills of their trade. Pearl Buck once said that “The secret of joy in work is contained in one word- excellence. To know how to do something well is to enjoy it.” If we as a people are going to work hard, and be happy doing this work, we must also focus on our education so that we can make the most of our lives and our futures.
