I did not make it to 10 days clean, although it was fully in my power to do so. I gave up trying because I was so hurt yesterday. It's no excuse. I'm just so... weary. I'm ready for life to slow down. I'm ready to not be working 2 jobs.
This morning I came across two things in my reading. Matthew 12:36-27 tells us that when we stand before God, we will have to give account for every word we speak. Our words will either condemn us or set us free. That makes me want to be extra sure my words are uplifting. It also makes me think of profanity. Sure, there are some words that are bad, especially the way we use them. But if used in their original context, they are no worse than any other word. The issue isn't the word itself but the intent behind the word.
The second thing to stand out was Matthew 14:13-14. Earlier in the chapter, Herod had killed John the Baptist. Jesus found out, so He withdrew to be alone. However, the crowds followed Him. Most people would be angry at not being able to get a moment's peace, especially after a death in the family. But instead, Jesus had compassion on the people. He set aside His grief for them so they could find comfort and healing. Now isn't that love?
