Woke up, turned on the news, and saw this
what I find almost as bad as the incident are the proclamations and speculations of the 24-hr news cycle. No one knows nothing yet are on TV proclaiming opinions as if they were absolute facts.
I imagine as time progresses we will learn more... It would be nice if there were responsible journalism but I fear as a nation we've forgotten what that is.
Jesus fulfilled the letter of Law that put an end to all external rituals and began spiritual understanding and keeping of the spirit of the Law. He shared the preparatory day of the Passover with His apostles to end that ritual also by becoming sacrificial Lamb next day.
John 6 elaborates on the spiritual understanding of the communion. Paul with Pharisaic mindset introduced a ritual in the notorious Corinthian church with his typical strategy in early part of his ministry as he was...
So I have seen lately that Hell is getting redefined to not really be a place of torment but just the fact that since God is everywhere than it will be awful for non Christians and to them that will be Hell. I was surprised to learn that the idea of Hell that many Christians know has not always existed. I was taught that Hell was a real place so is it real or just a state of mind?
I open wih 4 theses designed to stimulate a discussion. If no one responds, then I'll be forced to give lectures, and I don't want that. I intend to pursue these topics sequentially, but I welcome digressions that serve the flow of discussion.
(1) The Old Testament (OT) repeatedly denies the God is a "male" both explicitly and implicitly.
(2) One way to look at any god's is the role they play as ultimate symbols of power. If the ultimate symbols of power are exclusively male, then...
To claim, that the Bible contains the words of God when interacting with people of other religions, will not help. They also quote their scriptures claiming the origin from their gods.
It is by the fruit of the Spirit that we show our superiority in spirituality, not in pages of books. It is by serving, sharing and suffering with humility that puts us apart from other religions.
Too many women these days are living in rebellion. They don't want to submit to their husband. They want to be disobedient to God's Word. They don't respect their husbands or his authority in the home. These women will go to the lake of fire unless they repent. They are of a reprobate mind. There is no once saved always saved, which I feel most of these so-called Christian women subscribe to. It makes them comfortable in their sin. Not following God's will for their lives is sin....
I have heard arguments for it being a requirement, as well as not, so what's the deal?
Is it something a christian -must- do? As a requirement for salvation?
Or is it more for show-and-tell?
(Wasn't sure where to post, let me know if I need to move.)
"You have heard me say to you, 'I am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father', for the Father is greater than I." John 14:28
I am leading a Bible study in the Gospel of John and we will be discussing this statement probably next week. How are we to understand this verse in light of the rest of John's teaching on the Deity of Jesus?
Thanks in advance;
