I'm repulsed at how Israel has created a type of apartheid in their country not only by banishing and marginalizing the Palestinians, but they have created a law that effectively turns non-Jews into second class citizens. This bunch appalls me. I love the sites in Israel, but find their government and politics so repugnant that I would be going nuts LOL

For that reason alone I'm very hesitant to ever travel to Israel. It's a shame really since it would make an amazing pilgrimage.

I'm with you, Maria. These Jews in Israel have created a situation where they pinch their noses at Christians, and just allow us to come because they like the smell of the cash. These Evangelicals throw $$$$ at them like crazy thinking they'll usher in the apocalypse and rebuild the Temple and all this odd stuff. Most of the Jews in the government have always been and still are ATHEISTS! It's such a secularized country, greedy and cruel to the Palestinians. Amazing how, after World War II and all the cruelty the Jews suffered, being kicked out of their homes, that they'd do the same to others just a couple years later. History can be so frustrating. Lessons never learned.

For that reason alone I'm very hesitant to ever travel to Israel. It's a shame really since it would make an amazing pilgrimage.

I saw some story about Israel on the news the other night. These evangelicals were walking looking at the holy sites singing these Baptist-style praise songs, all of them, going up the steps. It would be my luck to fly all that way, spend all that money, and have to hear Baptist happy-clappy music as they sway back and forth holding lighters in their hands in the air like they were at a Bon Jovi concert listening to Wanted Dead or Alive circa 1988.

My travel agent (who is AWWWWWESOME by the way!!!!) found us a super great deal on Israel-Jordan during Christmas vacation. 13 days and it covers all the important things! So not only Israel's holy sites, but also Jerash, Kerak Castle, Mt. Nebo, Petra, Um Qais and all the other good stuff in Jordan!

Looks like I'll be pulling the trigger on this bad-boy. We were going to go in mid summer, but by going at this time, we save six grand! Looks like, at this point, Gurney's family is off to the Holy Land!

I'll just have to pinch my nose at the Israeli politics and focus on 2,000 years ago and beyond! I have to go to this wondrous place once before I die. Now is the time. Just thought I'd update everybody.

I was recently there with my parish. I didn’t see many American Evangelicals but I did see a huge number of Russians, not all of whom were particularly devout. Prepare yourself.

I would add to your journey some of the Orthodox monasteries, particularly Mar Saba. Your wife won’t be able to enter, but even from the outside it is extraordinary.

Prepare myself for Russians not taking their faith seriously? Ok...LOL

I loved Temple of Doom. Ya gotta love retrieving the Shiva Linga! But I did crack up at the whole Shiva vs. Kali paradigm!! In Hinduism Kali is Shiva’s wife! ^_^

Too much comedy in Last Crusade. I didn’t care much for Connery’s part. It’s ok...

mine was Temple of Doom (Crystal Skull is anathema), but I still enjoy it. so Temple of Doom is third but not by much.

I personally didn't care for Short Round. plus Willie annoyed me until the end. that said, I did enjoy it.

the Dan Aykroyd cameo was nice though.
