I wonder if it is still 70%. It would be interesting to know the demographics of the leavers. (And there was a Exodus conversation this week that I was thinking of elsewhere on CF.)
Probably more than 70% now as the literalists are trending downwards but how many are leaving the faith altogether from this group I don't know.

I'm a little surprised. The gap between those times was one of growth of the evangelical church (not the evangelische kirke, mind you) in the US at the expense of the "mainline" protestants primarily. I must be overestimating the fraction of evangelicals that are fundamentalists.

If the Exodus didn't occur as documented, tell me.

How did the Israelites get into the desert in the first place?

Actually there is no science
in creationism but otherwise
the description is correct. If
by "people" you mean creatioists.

Though in general they need faith, not
evidence.
And some of the more astute realize
there never will be any.

I was referring to in my post scientist (specifically to scientist who address God's creation) ones that claim evolution, billions of years, ect.. . If i would have been addressing Biblical creation scientist i would have addressed them by name.
The people in my post are people who believe in these scientific claims of evolution, etc....

What I'm not understanding is how can science be against creation when it opens a window into the creation process.

The answer is in your question, and you don't even realize it.

See if you can find it.

Hint: It's in your word choice. One single word you used gives it away.

Yet it is the process you deny.

My pastor frequently rails on the end times, citing 1 Timothy 4 & 2 Timothy 4 as indicative of the times we're in.

He makes the points that churches today are changing "blood" to "cross" in their hymnals, abandoning the fundamentals, embracing toleration, and even Baptist churches are removing "Baptist" from their names.

Not to mention abandoning the KJB.

How many times does it need to be explained to you Exodus is not the evidence.
The evidence comes from the archaeology which is zero of two million Israelites roaming the Sinai for forty years.

In your dreams.
Good grief you have violated your prime directive in this very thread.
From post #356.

Your quote in red tows the prime directive line where the Bible prescribes death for adultery and fornication.
You then violate the prime directive highlighted in green by stating adultery and fornication require a lesser punishment.

Incidentally killing everyone who commits adultery and fornication is a very extreme method of population control.

What, for example, would you expect to see?

You disappoint me.

Start a thread, and I'll be glad to explain Deuteronomy 22:22-27.

The remains of large campsites, for one.

Fair enough.

Thanks for that example.

Let's test that scientifically, shall we?

Go anywhere in America and build a large campsite that houses one-tenth of the population that entered the Sinai Peninsula (200,000).

Leave it behind for ... say ... one tenth of the time they wandered in the wilderness (4 years).

Come back in four years, and see if you can find a trace of your large campsite anywhere.

My point is that the Amalekites, the elite desert warriors, would have picked clean anything the Israelites left behind.

Including the Israelites, if they could have.

Ingenious speculation, but I trust archaeologists to know something real about how ancient campsites like that can be detected.

You must have a lot of faith in them then.
