Id have to go with the Xbox, it may not have mario, but its getting Pro Evolution Soccer 3 this summer.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

nope the 'Cube is best.Good graphics,good controls,but bad button placing.Why can't they stick to one setup?Sony sets theirs in the same spot.The 'Cube has pretty good games,but the PS2 has MORE games.Sorry Ps2 but the 'Cube all the way....

X is pretty good,but the gkliches that could make:Knuckles in Sonics lost world?!"are gone.and battle is good and better than the original,but you may have other thoughts.I like sonic heroes,but I wish advance 3 or adventure 3 would come out soon....

There is no definitive best console. It boils down to personal preference, and when you try to pass your personal preference off as fact, flamewars start and feelings get hurt. That's why these types of threads turn into trainwrecks.
That being said, here are my personal preferences in order of favorite -> least favorite:
Gamecube:
The games are awesome. Metroid Prime, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Sunshine, Zelda: Wind Waker, Viewtiful Joe, Ikaruga, Animal Crossing, etc. If anyone says "the gamecube is kiddy", I automatically consider thier opinions on all matters to be worthless as they don't know what they're talking about. The Wavebird is the best wireless controller in the history of the universe.
XBox:
The games are getting better- Star Wars: KoTOR, Ninja Gaiden, Panzer Dragoon: Orta, and Halo are all great titles. Jade Empire, Fable, Halo 2, and Star Wars: KoTOR 2 are coming out in the future, which make the XBox even more desirable. The graphics are arguably the best out of all 3 consoles and 5.1 surround sound support is pure bliss. If there's a multi-platform title that I want, I buy it for the XBox. None of the Live titles really interest me so I didn't consider that to be a reason to buy it.
The main reason I purchased an XBox was for the nifty things you can do with it after you mod it. I use it as a media server now more than a gaming machine, frankly. The ability to stream movies & music to my living room stereo & TV from a computer in the office is priceless. It's basically a PC now. The good games coming out for it are just icing on the cake.
PS2:
I sold my PS2 to buy the XBox. It was alright but none of the games really jumped out and grabbed me. I liked the controller style better than the XBox. If the price ever drops to sub-$100 levels I may pick one up again, if only for Gran Turismo 4 and the Final Fantasy series. And Disgaea. And Playstation 1 game compatability. And Rez.

Xbox - Halo, DOA series, V8 Supercars 2, etc.
PS2 - Tekken series (definate favourite), etc.
GameCube - um...
...okay, so maybe I don't know a lot of games,

I like the Gamecube,not 'cause my personalnality,but bcause its so diverse.The 'cube has:Sonic,Zelda,Mario,Metroid,Super smash bros.,Poke'mon,did I mention Sonic?Its sonic's need work on how to make them even better,because the control style is a little weak.Sonic heroes is okay,but not a real fan of the whole"team"idea.I like the ones on the GBA better,if only they were still that good and in 3-D.......oh yeah!And ONE good Yu-Gi-Oh! game.

lol have to agree, although I really enjoy my XBox. The main reason I bought a console is because I was tired (too broke) to keep upgrading my PC, plus I like being able to kick back in my recliner and play. As far as the thread question, I would have chosen PS2 because of the game selection but I don't know many people who own consoles where I live but I looked at some of the games and decided on XBox. I can't comment on GC as I've never played one.
