"I cry at my church frequently...and no, I don't get caught up in the moment. I feel the Spirit's presense...and that gives people different reactions. Some cry, some laugh in hysterics, some dance, some bow down...it all depends on the person"

There is no "spirit." It may feel like it, but it's not. All it is, is the mood of the room.

It's pretty bold to claim that there's no Holy Spirit (which I'm assuming is what they are referring to).

I've seen the crying, the laughing, the hysterics. Personally I don't feel comfortable doing it or being around people doing it, but I don't think it's wrong in and of itself. I DO think that it is wrong when the goal of your worship is to feel some sort of crazy emotion and you feel unfulfilled if you don't experience that. That's the case for some people, unfortunately- the 'high' of worship is more desirable than the worship itself.

No, it's not just the "mood of the room." At times during worship I feel the Lords presence more than usual and it brings me to tears. Happy tears to know that He is with me. You can't say it's because you're getting caught up in the moment. I cry sometimes when I pray, I'm not getting caught up in the moment, I'm getting caught up in the love of my Savior and buddy, there ain't nothin' wrong with that!

First off, I am a christian. Second, I don't think the holy spirit does any of this stuff that some people say it does.

Oh, and, I don't think it's...wrong what they're doing(crying, laughing, bowing, whatever), I just don't think it's what they say/think it is.
I'm sorry, but I don't see how you can call yourself a Christian.... You can't have one without the others, It's the Father, The Son, AND The Holy Spirt.....All are present all the time. It seems that you are clouded in what you believe if you don't believe that the Holy Spirt is present in our hearts all the time..... From what I have read of your posts you are basicly saying that Jesus wasn't enough and that there is an alternative to Jesus and you are calling that alternative common sense, to which any real christian would look at and call stupidity...... If you don't take all 3 then you don't get any because they are all one and God as the Holy Spirt is there working in everyone's heart differently during worship, like said before, some cry, some dance, some sing, some bow down, but it's the Holy Spirt that encompasses us.....

It is what they say it is for the most part. I mean, I know I am not lying. I can tell the difference between getting caught up and actually experiencing it. i used to think what you did until I actually was slain with the Spirit. There is biblical support of this...so if you are Christian then it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not denying the Holy Spirit. I'm just saying I don't think that it makes people cry, laugh, dance, bow, wave their hands, blah blah blah blah.
well then just like oneiric said in his post, you have never experienced the Holy Spirt for yourself..... someday bro, it will speak to you and you won't miss what it says to you because it will be so clear.... I hate to say this, but sin keeps us from experiencing God in the way we should...I challenge you to examine your life and heart and see if there is something in your life that is keeping you apart from the Holy Spirit....

It scares me to think that I have to feel so very strongly moved (hand-waving, crying etc) if I'm to know the Holy Spirit has touched me. I have tried my best all my life to follow Christ. I'll admit I have made some very bad decisions, but I've never denied the existence of God, Christ, or the Holy Spirit.

However, I've never felt so moved as to cry, clap, wave my arms etc. I bow my head in prayer partly because I was taught to as a child, and also it's the only way I know how to show respect to the Lord. The bottom line is, that's just me. I'm not a hand-waving crying type of person.

So Oneiric and Doofus, if such feelings are evidence that I'm not saved, then I'm in trouble because I've done all I know to get there.
