Hello friend!
The wine in the Bible was not fermented like it is now. Wine simply meant "grape juice". Yes, it saws many times in Proverbs and Psalms that wine (fermented) is bad. A "mocker" and such. Jesus wouldn't do something that went against the Bible, would He?

Yes, it saws many times in Proverbs and Psalms that wine (fermented) is bad.

Wine is not bad, it is the misuse of (or the passions) what is given to us by God for our good pleasure that is sinful. Sex->Adultery, Food->Gluttony, Riches->Avarice, Wine/Alcohol->Drunkeness.

The Sunset Psalm 103 (104 MSS):

Wine to gladden the heart of man and oil to make his face shine, bread to strengthen mans heart ...

Rachel Elizabeth, I'm afraid you've fallen for SDA mytholgy. I was SDA most my life till Jesus freed me. There WAS NO GRAPEJUICE in the bible, except at harvest time durectly after the grapes were pressed. Then, and on then was it Grape Juice. It fermented fairly quickly after that. That is why Jesus said we put "New Wine into New wine skins" so there was elasticity to take up the gas created by fermentation. If new wine was put into an old dry wineskin, it would burst from the gas.

Most wine was diluted with water to a large degree, so the alcohol content was not too high.

PS. Putting an EG WHITE quote in your signiature is a dead give-away.

By the way, if you'd like to know more of the truth about Mrs White, go look here.

God bless

I was in the process of responding to the post you directed towards me. However, by the time I had my answer all set out it appears that the moderator felt your post towards me was too harsh and deleted it. If you don't mind, I'll respond to your post as a Private Message.

~ A tiny Greek lesson for you grape juice drinkers...
oinos = wine
xumos = juice
dzoumi = juice
~ Jesus made oinos at the wedding feast.
~ Paul told Timothy to drink oinos for his stomach.
~ It is amazing how many people are deluded into thinking that by first creating a doctrine, and then trying to justify that doctrine by reason or misquoted Scripture, that they are some how superior in revelation and knowledge to others who don't buy into their fantasy.
~ My suggestion to those who think they know it all? Read the Bible by itself and don't let false teachers or deluded men (and women) decieve you. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you as you diligently study the Word. If your pastor/teacher/guru/cult leader does not agree with the Word of God, then find one who does.
~ Continue to discuss amongst yourselves...

Peace,

Leimeng

hello :)

Now would you care to add some proof for your comments?

When reading my whole bible, Ive not found anything that would make me think that wine doesnt mean just what it says.

Even the NT says
1Ti 3:8 Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not being given to much wine, not greedy for money,
Do you think a person could get into trouble and not be allowed to be an elder for drinking too much ''grape juice" ? :)

Probably not.
They could however be disqualified for being a lush/drunk. :)
