Furthermore, it was only until 1869 that Thomas Bramwell Welch* ^ invented his revolutionary process that prevented fermentation in wine, rendering it non-alcoholic.

What is grape juice?
It's usually a blend of musts plus water and sometimes sugar and other ingredients and preservatives and packaged in a way as to prevent or discourage fermentation.

"Grape juice is pasteurized, its undergone a process to change its nature. It is something different than what it is before." -MKJ

Are you aware that there such a thing called "unpasteurized grape juice"?

That's modern grape juice you are talking about.

You can call must "grape juice" if you like, or if you don't know the word "must" just like you can call cider "apple juice" if you like, of if you don't know the word "cider" or know the difference between cider and real apple juice.

Must (from the Latin vinum mustum, “young wine”) is freshly pressed fruit juice (usually grape juice) that contains the skins, seeds, and stems of the fruit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Must

So, what do you call the raw freshly grape fruit liquid that has been stripped of grape skins, seeds and stems (usually done by passing it through a sieve)?

There is no shame in admitting that you were wrong.:)

"Must" is the grape juice that still contains grape skin, stem and seeds. Once everything, but the liquid is filtered out, it's no longer called must.

Let's see you take your own advice. Lord knows you've been proven wrong several times already in this thread.

Didn't exist back then.

Historical fact. If that's not liked, that's not our fault.

Uhhmmm, are you aware that "unpasteurized" grape juice is simply raw juice from freshly pressed grapes? Raw grape juice didn't exist back then?

Yeah riiiiiight...

How have I been proved wrong?

Fruit of the vine? Already brought enough biblical evidence that it's a term used for grapes.

Numbers 6:3? Every translator agrees with me. The Hebrew word "mishrah" means juice in English.

I am happy to admit my errors if you can show Scriptural evidence to support your claims.

1. Don't address my person; address my posts.
2. Your position is wrong due to the properties of fermentation, which are clearly not being understood as evidenced in your posts' continued avoidance of correction.

I thank God I received an excellent education in history...and I think in light of this thread, I hope Him even more than I currently do.

Those who reject history usually have their beliefs fall into various ancient heresies. This thread is perfect proof of this phenomenon.

Granted, must or, as some would have it "grape juice" obviously did exist during the historical period in question. During the season of grape harvest, and for a very short period of time (read: hours) "grape juice" existed.

What we are saying is that unless the Last Supper took place within those specific time constraints, that no "grape juice" could possibly have been available for use. Also, if, by some special technology or Divine action, "grape juice" had been available for use, it certainly would have merited a line in the narrative specifying so.

(Yes, this is an argument from silence. But so is "Well it doesn't SAY that it was alcoholic wine.")
