Why worry about the Ten Commandments, if you are disregarding the Sabbath?

A SDA co-worker at my mom's place of employment invited her to his local SDA church, and there my mom learned of the Sabbath, and over time next year, I learned of the 7th day Sabbath from my mom's witness.

I know what the Bible says regarding the Sabbath, what I was asking you, more specifically, was it just soley from personal Bible study, or was it through the witness of another Sabbath keeping person, or the reading of a book on the Sabbath, etc, etc, that first introduced you to the 7th day Sabbath?

We should put stock in writings by those who are enemies of our Lord ?

Oblio,

You missed my point. Of course we are not going to base our beliefs on what the Jews believe, but the observation that I made about the article is that scores of Evangelical leaders here in the U.S. are joining hands with the Jews regarding the promotion of the Ten Commandments here in the U.S. on
05.07.06. But, the Jews keep the 7th day Sabbath of 10 Commandments, while the EOC, Catholics, and Evangelicals don't keep the 4th Commandment as it is written, yet they are promoting all 10 as if they do honor and keep them!

Check out their Web site for more info.

They keep them as well as the Pharisees that Christ condemned do. IOW, not at all. They pretend to, they unplug their esspresso machines and set their elevators to shabbat mode , but they do not keep the commandment any more than we do.

You know how I became to believe in the Sabbath? When I first married my husband he kept the Sabbath...I was an avid Sunday Church goer. It was when I tried to prove him wrong that Yahweh opened my eyes one day and literally showed it to me in the bible. The same verses that I had already read for years suddenly, through prayer and study, had a completely different meaning. It is amazing the truth and knowledge you can obtain by trying to disprove someone else.

Yeah, the truth is hard to argue with, isn't it?

Any plans for Resurrection Sabbath? My church is doing a cantata for the morning service. Should be a great time in the LORD!

We are getting together with several friends and having a "camp out" and worship together.

Interesting. The sabbath is a memorial of God's creation and was made for all mankind...........as in Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy....God's children are to remember it, because of what he did in the six days before and why he rested on the seventh. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Jews, other than that they, too, were to keep it holy.

Notice below what Jesus said to the pharisees.

He'd be the one who'd know for whom it was made.............and so he did.

"The Sabbath was made for man..........(Mark 2:27)

Paul kept the Sabbath day. Why? Jesus forget to tell him it's no longer valid?
Acts 17:2, 13:13, 42,44, 16:13, 18:4

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish aught from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God. Deut 4:2

Aside from that, the Jewish nation did not even exist until 2,500 years after the Sabbath was made.

It's inconvenient tho, eh, :o

It amazes me how some "Christians" seem to claim that "certain" parts of the bible were directed to ONLY the Jews, while other parts that they choose are directed towards everyone who is in existence. Why is that?

Yeah, like only 9 of the ten commandments are for Christians, but the fourth command is only for the Jews

You mean, like those who distinguish between the "law of Moses" and the "law of God"? It leaves one to wonder who the Jews thought Moses' laws came from.

All the laws in the Bible come from God.

There are ten that God wrote and those ten have never been done away with.

NONE of those commandments are for the Christians.

We follow Christ. Can't go wrong on that one can we?

Yes, we follow Christ, but not blindly!

You should know that it was Christ (God) who gave us those commandments, and that to just simply say you believe in Him is not enough.

James spent a good deal of time emphasizing the idea that faith without works is dead.

Now then, does this mean we are saved by God's grace and our works? No. What it means is that we are only saved by God's grace, but that if we are to live the life that His grace calls us to, we will keep His commandments, because they are righteous, and God has called us to righteousness.

This explains why the Bible says,

"This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus." Rev. 14:12

Thus the commandments, as well as the faith, are not merely for the Jews, but for anyone who believes in Jesus Christ.

And it takes 10 fingers to help with anothers burden,.....use them and this does fulfill God's Whole Law. Work your patience (that God has given you) through your 10 fingers in His Kind of Love.

This is why the Pharisees wanted to kill Christ~ because they had not The Love of God in them to love their neighbor with,....they were so religious and missing God (in the flesh) and others all together (in the flesh). They were so caught up with how they were so right in God's eyes while they were worshipping God with their lips,....but their heart was far from Him and their conduct with others showed. They did not preach about the Love of God to their neighbor,...they stopped being the example to the flock. We all did. So Christ HAD TO COME. And show us how it's done. You DIE to the flesh nature as the Holy Spirit leads - only as He leads. So that we can love others aright,....even when it hurts or causes an affliction. ~wounds of a friend~
