Did you ever see Spielberg's house?
People do not seem to mind that he did not exactly get it right.
If your going to be a revisionist, then you may as well get rich at it.

Sad that they should call it Jurassic park especially since it is based on a true story eh:doh:

Why do you always insist on only having the most superficial understanding of the issues at hand?

"Kinda like calling a movie 'Jurassic Park', when it actually depicts animals in the Triassic; and labeling Tyrannosaurus Rex as "Tyrononnosaurus Rex"?"

Cretaceous.
I think you mean Tyrranosaurus rex. (Small "r" in "rex")

;)

That would be AV, not me. I was correcting his mistaken comment about "Triassic Park".
Sorry, but you didn't attribute the quote and I tend to ignore AV1611VET's posts, lest whatever he's got is contagious.

:sorry:

Macht Nicht. I only saw it because Jazer quoted him above and top of the page posts tend to stand out for me.

That was almost 20 years ago even before Dolly was cloned. So the whole idea was new and no one had heard of it yet.
Huh? Cloning has been thought about for quite a long time. Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, first published in 1932, featured human cloning.

Or, for a more recent example. Jurassic park was published in 1990.
The Battlestar Galactica episode Gun On Ice Planet Zero aired in 1978.

Pop cultural references abound prior to the publication of Jurassic Park Jazer, so I have no idea where you're getting the quote above from.

Oh how shocking when a SCIENCE FICTION movie about Dinosaurs being cloned back to life (We all know that Jurrasic park is a real place and the Government is hiding it from us:p:p:p) depicts velociraptors without feathers! Just because it was recently discovered that they [velociraptors] had feathers is not an excuse to omit this from the SCIENCE FICTION film called Jurrasic park.

After all it was only a SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE.
Do you know what FICTION means?:doh::doh:

Then he waited. It took six years for CERN to greenlight and fund the experiment. Mr. Kirkby cites financial pressures for the delay and says that "it wasn't political."

Mr. Svensmark declines entirely to guess why CERN took so long, noting only that "more generally in the climate community that is so sensitive, sometimes science goes into the background."

Both Mr. Kirkby and Mr. Svensmark are my heroes. Even if they had shown that cosmic rays have no influence on cloud formation, they'd be my heroes. They are heroes of science over the corrupting influence of politics. Unfortunately, everyone from scientists, to environmentalists, to climate change skeptics have been politicized, but these men stand out as true scientists.

Um, why? Svensmark in particular has been beating a dead horse for a long time. Cosmic rays don't have any significant impact on climate. This is known quite well because cosmic rays oscillate with the solar cycle, and the solar cycle doesn't have a significant impact on climate.

However, these results are interesting, as outlined here:
RealClimate: The CERN/CLOUD results are surprisingly interesting…

A couple of points, however:
1. They aren't able to replicate the observed nucleation rates in any event, which they claim indicates an error in atmospheric composition in the experimental chamber. So more work is needed to see how well their results translate to a more accurate experiment. Because of this discrepancy, no strong conclusion on the effect of cosmic rays can be deduced.
2. They compare between zero cosmic rays and a large amount of cosmic rays. In reality, cosmic rays don't fluctuate nearly that much, which causes the effect to be significantly overestimated.

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center: La Niña is back
La Niña, which contributed to extreme weather around the globe during the first half of 2011, has re-emerged in the tropical Pacific Ocean and is forecast to gradually strengthen and continue into winter. Today, forecasters with NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center upgraded last month’s La Niña Watch to a La Niña Advisory.
NOAA will issue its official winter outlook in mid-October, but La Niña winters often see drier than normal conditions across the southern tier of the United States and wetter than normal conditions in the Pacific Northwest and Ohio Valley.
“This means drought is likely to continue in the drought-stricken states of Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico,” said Mike Halpert, deputy director of the Climate Prediction Center. “La Niña also often brings colder winters to the Pacific Northwest and the northern Plains, and warmer temperatures to the southern states.”

I live in the Pacific NW so I am expecting more cold and snow this winter.

Hmm.... I think Jurassic Park was one of the most clever government propaganda campaigns ever. We know that Jurassic Park is a real place but the movie lied about how it really is over there. It showed scaly velociraptors when in fact they have feathers just to scare us. The government wants us to think that Jurassic Park isn't real, and even if it was, it'd be too dangerous for anybody to want to go there.

I know better. It's a good and happy island.

I think I'm going to scream.

If NOAA can't show you that AGW is a hoax, then what about this recently published data by NASA? They show global temperatures over the past few years and you can see that the line is going down!!

That wasn't really my point. My point is about La Niña, and I think it's pretty clear that the link between La Niña and horrific droughts here in Texas are NOT a hoax, and La Niña is coming back; therefore....

This has been the worst summer ever here, and there may be another one just like it in 2012? We've gotta get out of here. I can't take another summer here like this one.
