Lets look at Galatians 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died [j]in vain.”Scripture say
The scriptures say that the UNRIGHTEOUS shall not inherit the kingdom of GOD. 1 Corinthians 6:9KJV This is a very plain statement, let it soak in to your mind. Now, another scripture, Galatians 2:21
Can you tell me in all of Galatians 2 that the law Paul was quoting is the Ten Commandments, Paul certainly never said this nor would Paul be in rebellion to God. That only worshipping the God of Creation is unrighteous and keeping God's name holy is unrighteous or not murdering our neighbor is unrighteous. You seem to be taking a lot of liberties that Paul did not.
What law was Paul speaking about in this very chapter and why he said what he said in verse 21
Lets look...
Gal 2: 3 Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. 4 And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage), 5 to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
6 But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God [b]shows personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. 7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter 8 (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles), 9 and when James, [c]Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 10 They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.
11 Now when [d]Peter had come to Antioch, I [e]withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; 12 for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing [f]those who were of the circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.
14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, [g]why do you compel Gentiles to live as [h]Jews? 15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 knowing that a man is not [i]justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
17 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died [j]in vain.”
What is Paul talking about- not once did He say "the works of the law" is the Ten Commandments.
Paul addressed this issue in several places, the Jews were requiring the Gentiles to be circumcised to hear the gospel Gal2:3 (context) and to be saved Acts15:1-2. Basically they were teaching they could save themselves by their works (circumcision) apart from Christ. This is what Paul was correcting. God's holy commandments, is not something Paul said was unrighteous. He said not keeping them dishonors God Rom2:21-23 and is sinning Rom7:7 and makes one an enemy of God Rom8:7-8 and keeping the commandments of God is what matters 1Cor7:19
According to the ScripturesThe Ten Commandments did not provide righteousness, they are the old covenant.
Psa 119:172 My tongue shall speak of Your word,
For all Your commandments are righteousness.
Psa 119:142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
And Your law is truth.
Can you tell me when the Holy Spirit of Truth became untruths and the commandments that started with only worshipping God became unrighteous?
The law has always been of faith. Obedience is of faith. Disobedience is unbelief, rebellion and sin Heb3:7-19The new covenant imputes righteousness to the one of faith. The law wasn’t of faith.
Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Gen 26:5 because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”
Why Jesus Himself said:
Luke 6:46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was [j]founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it [k]fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”
Paul even said:
Romans 3: 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.
The role of the Ten Commandments is to show us our sin Rom3:20 1John3:4 James2:11 Rom7:7 so we are not depending on our righteousness (right or wrong) but on God's Psa119:172 which is everlasting Psa119:42The Ten Commandments will not justify, forgive, have mercy, enable repentance or give everlasting life.
The law cannot save us, but it shows us we are dirty (sinners) and the only solution is Jesus to go to Him and ask for His help in overcoming our sins. 1John1:9. When He cleanses us, when we repent, which means having a sorry heart and turning from sin to Christ abiding in Him John15:4-10 He says go and sin no more. We are not saved in our sins Heb10:26-30 we are saved from sin Mat1:21 we need a complete transformation in Christ Rom6:1-4
But if we refuse to the let God define sin which He does 1John3:4 James2:11 Mat5:19-30 than sadly all we will do is cover our sins where we will not receive mercy Pro28:13 John3:19-21
You keep quoting you but lets look at the Scriptures. The Ten Commandments are the old covenant but yet many think we are under them.
The New Covenant was established on better promises, not all new laws. Heb8:6
God said He would write His Laws in our hearts and minds Heb8:10 (who determines what are God's Laws, He or us? I am going with Him, what are under His mercy seat we will be judged by Exo25:21 Rev15:5 Rev11:19 James2:11-12)
The only thing that changed was the location of God's Laws
Eo 34: 28 So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
2 Cor 3:3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God,
not the laws on scrolls written with ink, but written by the Spirit of the living God. Who wrote the Ten Commandments God or man?
Exo31:18 And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.
What is the finger of God? The Spirit of the living God
Luke 11:20 But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Mat 12:28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
The Holy Spirit of Truth wrote the Ten Commandments
2 Cor 3:3 not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.
The only law written and tablets of stone is the Ten Commandments and where did God's laws go? All Ten? Tablets of the heart, the New Covenant
Heb8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
God keeping His promise of not altering His words Psa89:34, not a jot or tittle Mat5:18
Not if we are not subjecting ourselves to God's laws. Rom8:7-8GODLY love in us by HIS spirit will fulfill the law.
Love never went undefined by God and redefined by man.If you love your neighbor as yourself you will not do anything wrong against your neighbor but law keepers can’t see this. When Jesus fulfilled the law he did so with his FATHERS love. Love is the fulfillment of the law. If Jesus had to fulfill the Ten Commandments then obviously they didn’t have GODLY love because GODLY love is what it takes to fulfill the Ten Commandments. No one will have the righteousness needed to be in the kingdom of GOD if they are Ten Commandment keepers. The law kills everyone under it. Romans 3:19-20 None of the blessings of the new covenant are in the Ten Commandments. I don’t hate the Ten Commandments because they were used to show me that I was a hopeless sinner in need of a messiah and this is the lesson of the schoolmaster
God said in His own Testimony
Exo 20:6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Jesus said the same thing who is God made flesh and the one speaking the Ten Commandments- If (conditional) you love Me, keep My commandments. John14:15 how we abide in Him John15:10 Jesus always leading by example 1John2:6
The law is a teacher that brings us to Christ- once in Christ did He say we no longer need the law? He said If you love Me, keep My commandments. Why would anyone not want to retain what they learned in school and how many people use this verse but yet skip school and never once tried to keep all of God's Laws?but after we are in Christ the schoolmaster is no longer needed .
I see this is your opinion on the subject, but what did Jesus say? He is the only One that matters and He said the opposite. He said the blind are the ones who do not keep the commandments of God but instead depend on on their own commandments and traditions.Apparently the majority of people on this forum are blind to these things . Because of this I will no longer reply to them, only to people who have been given eyes to see.
Mat 15:3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; (found in the Ten Commandments) and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father [a]or mother.’ Thus you have made the [b]commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
8 ‘These people [c]draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”
10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
