dfw69 - You make good points, however Rev 11:1-2 proves the existence of the Temple in the latter days, built before the Return of Jesus. Whether it is destroyed and another one built, I doubt, but it is sure there will be a Temple in the Millennium.

Inter - Please re-read Zech ch 8 none has been properly fulfilled as yet, it all pertains to the last days and I see it as happening before the Mill. I base this on many prophecies, such as Ezekiel 36, Jer.31, Isa 60. Many times, it is stated 'You will know that I am the Lord' -[from My deeds] so He is not physically present as yet. 2 Thess 1:6-10 says that when He comes in 'blazing fire, punishing all who refuse to acknowledge God...' His glory and majesty will be shown only to believers. This does not refer to the Return, as described in Rev 19:11 and Matt 24:30 when He is seen by all the world. Note in 1 Cor 10:4 it was Jesus who guided the Israelites in their 1st Exodus and He will do so again in the same way in the second, after the holy Land is cleared by the fire judgement.

ebed - Isaiah says that prophecy is ' a little here a little there' also much of it has a dual fulfilment. So in one way your preterist view can be supported, but most often what is actually said by the prophets has never been completely fulfilled.

Ty.... Yes there will definately be another temple....but remember ... The holy city is divided into 3 parts. ...and the mt of olives split... Sounds like an earthquake....don't it?.... And it clearly says the branch will build his temple and no doubt the holy city which has significant damage... Jesus will built the forth temple and messianic city seen and spoken of by ezek

But before all this the false messiah and false messianic age will built ezek temple and city... But that will be destroyed by an earthquake ..

keras, just be prepared to shift assumptions about fulfillment and millenium. The NT does not "do" fulfillment like it is written. "The promise is not to seeds (many people) but to his Seed (which is Christ)" GAl. 3. The millenium? USing it as a base is like making water stand still on a rock slope. There is good reason to believe that what he meant by a millenium inaugurated at the resurrection because that made Jesus both Lord and CHrist (ACts 2).

I don't believe in directly interp'ing any OT Prophecy because there are 2500 uses of the OT by the NT and if you make them a science, you will never be a futurist eschatologically.

That's true what Isaiah says...which is reason to examine the prophecy. Prophecies of dual fulfillment are evident. However it's also evident when there is no dual fulfillment, and you won't find that concerning a third temple.

Just as you want to say the temple in Revelation 11:2 is the third...it is not. It is the church that is the temple.

What prophecies do you offer of dual fulfillment anyway?

dfw: why build another temple if HEbrews is true?

Hebrews is true...

But.over the centuries the temple has had it's purposes... The first was mainly for worship ... Blood atonement and other things as well but mainly blood atonement

The second built unto the messiah,... For the messiah was prophecied to come to his temple

The third temple is man made... Jews will want to seek the old ways....only this time ... They along with supporting nations seek to fool the world and usher in a world government... With a false messiah in Israel....mystery Babylon will rules the future 10 kingdoms ...who support her false doctrines and false messianic age for a season... This is when they will say..' Peace and safety ' for eternal peace has Come and all Israel's enemies are forcefully put down... ( Muslims Christianity democracy ect) ... Only the Israeli monarchy stands up for a season

Then her destruction comes and the great city and her temple is destroyed...

The forth temple is built by Christ .... Why?.... This new temple along with the newly rebuilt jerusalem (as specified in ezek) is a foreshadow of gods house which will come down from heaven... The temple represents god with man ... God has not come yet..., Jesus will reign 1000 years first... Then the new heaven new earth and new Jerusalem

And the forth temple will no longer be required... It has served it's purpose ... God will finally be united with his creation and live with mankind forever.

Hope this answered your question ...peace

This being Passover, I feel this is the perfect time to focus on why just as Jesus fulfilled the Passover, He fulfilled the temple too!

Many that hold that there will be a 3rd temple are hard pressed to justify that from scripture.

They lean quite heavily on Ezekiel 40-48. A temple that is in a vision to Ezekiel, in which Ezekiel is escorted by "a man" with a rod.

When it comes to the NT the temple fades away. This starts with Jesus declaring Himself to be the temple. Jesus makes this declaration in Matthew 12:6 as He confronts the Phariseees:
6 But I say to you that something greater than the temple is here.

Jesus is greater than the temple because every sacrifice offered at this temple pointed to Him!!! Hebrews 9:11, 12 makes this point:
11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation;
12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

Jesus is the perfect tabernacle/temple “not of this creation”, and through His own blood, He entered the holy place ONCE AND FOR ALL” obtained “ETERNAL REDEMPTION.

Notice the finality in once and for all this means there will be no more! So what use is a third temple??? It has no use!!!

Jesus also called Himself the temple in John 2:19:
Jesus answered them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

That is sufficient to start this discussion of why there will be no third temple!!!
:amen:
