  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why is this wrong?

Why are so many people so obsessed with the notion of homosexual sex? Are your heterosexual relationships all about getting laid? I sure hope that they aren't.

Dragons87, you may not understand this, but just like YOU are attracted to members of the opposite sex, there are people out there who feel that way about their own sex. You cannot force them to feel differently, and THEY cannot force themselves either. They don't wake up one morning and decide that it might be a brilliant idea to fall in love with another man/woman. It's not a choice.

Only one of my heterosexual relationship will be partly about getting laid: the one with my future wife.

I understand. If you were not forced at gunpoint to become homosexual, I think there's a degree to which one chooses to become a homosexual. One may not be able to choose what one is attracted to, but one is in complete control in who one gets into bed with.

Now I just have one small, nagging question. Why is that wrong? Why is it wrong for two women or two men to love eachother?

The real question being asked here is "What is wrong with homosexuality?"

The real answer, stripped of all the BS, is another question, "What relevence does this have to anyone?"

If you are not gay, the answer is "none whatsoever."

The truth is that homosexuality is neither a far reaching moral issue nor a political issue. It is a smoke-screen used to distract people from real issues.

Those in power wish to stay in power and do not wish to share their power with those not in power. If people are left to vote and act on the issues, they'll vote and act for themselves. For a certain political party in the USA, whom we'll not name but just call the elephants, it is bad news when people actually do this. It's impossible to get people to knowingly vote and act against themselves and so the elephants have devised this strategy where they convince group A that group B is a threat to them and, in order to protect themselves, group A must act and vote against group B. At the same time, they convince group B that group C is a threat and that group B should vote and act against group C. And on down the line to group Z, whom they convince that group A is a threat and must be voted and acted against.

And then the Elephants promises each group that if they vote for the elephants, the elephants will act to protect any group from any other group.

The result is that instead of anyone voting for themselves, they vote against someone else never quite noticing that by doing so, they are also voting against themselves. It's a age-old strategy of warfare known as "Divide and Conquer."

I'm of course talking about the Republican Party. It recently occurred to me that not a single person that I know that voted Republican in the last presidential election can tell me what, exactly, it was that they had voted for. Everyone can give me a long list of things that they voted against but no one seems to be able to say what, exactly, they voted FOR.

When a politician focuses on stopping gay marriage, this should send up the red flags. Since gay marriage, or gay anything for that matter, has absolutely zero relevence to anyone that is not gay, this should clue the person in to the fact that for the issues that actually are relevent to the person, that politician might not have that person's best interests in mind. Unfortunately, it seems that it didn't clue enough people in.

EVERYONE!!!! PLEASE LISTEN!!!! FORGET ABOUT THE OTHER GUY!!!! Vote and act FOR YOURSELF!!!!

This is very true, but why cant sex be an expression of love?
Can be but not always. Love is creative it also take more effort that the average coitus. I think anyone who believes the formula sex= love has been sold short by our culture. It takes more than that and should mean more than that.

I have struggled with my sexuality for several years now, and I do know how it feels to be attracted to members of the same sex. Even though the desires are there, I can choose to not act on them. God has established clear boundaries, and He has promised to withhold no good thing from us. I can't change these feelings, but I am trusting that He will. Until then, I am relying on the grace He has so richly provided. It isn't easy, but only He ultimately can meet our needs.

Going by the research that I, personally, have read, there is precisely zero evidence that someone's sexual orientation can be changed once they are an adult.

I think you're skewing things a bit there. Don't forget who the Elephants are contending with: the Asses.

American Politics is a war... a game fueled by greed, whose players show little remorse for the casualties they cause during play. Right now, Republicans are on the defensive, because they have power, and want to maintain it. Democrats are on the offensive, because they want power. And in the middle of all that racket are people who actually care and are trying to get something accomplished for the good of the common man. Both sides are throwing up the old "VOTE FOR US! WE'RE YOUR HERO/DEFENDER!" smokescreen. If the Dems ever do gain control, you'll just see a role-reversal after they've accomplished a certain amount of their agenda, and then we'll start stagnating again.

That's correct, although it IS possible to deny or suppress one's sexual orientation. But it's guaranteed to make you miserable, for you'd be living a lie.

It's not wrong. Not that I think a 14 y/o and a 16 y/o know much about love, but feelings are for exploring. :)
Don't underestimate teenagers - even though maturity is only acquired during a lengthy process, some people just manage better than others.

I'm not a democrat. My thing says INDY also, in case you didn't notice.

But still, I either vote democrat, Indy, or not at all. I understand and, more or less, agree with almost everything you say here. But at the same time, I don't see how anyone in their right mind would ever vote republican as I've never known republican policies to ever actually benefit anyone except for those already on the very top.

Anyway, this isn't the political forum. I'm not here to debate to which is better between the democrats or republicans. I was just pointing out that the whole gay thing is nothing more than a smoke screen and those that concern themselves with it aren't really being moral and upright, but instead are just a bunch of dopes who have been suckered by slick politicians into voting against themselves.

I suggest that instead of arguing with the "being gay is wrong and they must be stopped" types, that instead we laugh at their gullibility for being so easily distracted from real issues.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with two members of the same sex to be in love with each. You can most certainly have a very pure and healthy brotherly and sisterly love. But why must people express this kind of love with sex? Different kinds of love require different kinds of expression. Sex just happens to be not the way to express love to another member of the same sex.

Simple question:

why?

There is a difference between attraction and acting on attraction. And I think what you're attracted to can slowly change over time in subtle ways.
Most of what I've read or seen in debates about 'ex-homosexuals' suggests theyare controlling their actions and most often denying their attraction.

I'm not saying that they can't love their wives as much as anybody else. I just don't believe sexuality is a binary either/or system. It's a very borad continuum.

I've also yet to come across an exhomosexual, especially a preaching one, who wasn't religious and heavily criticized the way of life.

If they can live happy and fufilled lives, good for them. I wish them the best of luck. But it's not the same for everyone.

I didn't notice your Indy status, but I concur, we do agree on the lack of proper focus. Nose to the grindstone, people.

Is our biological function tied to our sexual nature, what is point of vagina to another female if not for reproduction? Is homosexuality a product of mutations or hormonal abnormality, if it so "normal" why is not more than 50 percent of population, because of genetics there are always be something out of normal, two-head snakes, six fingers, do you percieve them as normal? Take this not as hate speech, but something to think about. Can something percieve as normal when it is not part of standard of natural but culturally accepted it as "normal"?

The ecosystem is collapsing, species vanish 100-1000 times faster than they normally would, smog covers our polluted cities while overweight moms drive their shiny SUVS to the mall to buy coffee that's been picked by South American slum dwellers for measly pennies...

and people worry about somebody else's sexual orientation...

There's a difference between "normal" and "nothing wrong with it".

Is boiling an egg 'normal'? No. Is there something wrong with it? No.

I wearing clothes 'normal'? No. Is there something wrong with it? No.

Is open brain surgery 'normal'? No. Is there something wrong with it? No.

Is homesexuality 'normal'? Well, more than the above examples anyway. Is there something wrong with it? No. :)

I see nothing wrong with your friends being in love. I don't think there's anything wrong with them curling up together, holding hands, kissing, anything like that. I will say that I could not support the two of them having sex, anymore than I would support a straight couple of that age having sex. It is highly unlikely that they will be together for life, and I tend to subscribe to the idea that the level of sexual intimacy two people should be on should be proportional to the level of commitment in their relationship. Total sexual intimacy is best saved for a relationship of total, lifelong commitment. Of course, I wouldn't condemn them for it, either, and I would hope they are provided with any information necessary to make safe, responsible choices no matter what they choose, but if they asked my advice on it, that's what I'd say. ;)

This question has a little story attached to it so be forewarned.

I had a couple of friends come over tonight. I wanted some company and they wanted an exscuse to be together. I should point out something, my two friends are female, lesbians, and in love. Rosie is 14 and Angel is 16, I met both of them in high school when they started dating and we've kept in touch. They curled up on my bed together and I sat on the end of the bed with my back against the wall.

We holed up in my room and talked for a while, various things, life in general. After a bit we got hungry so I went into the kitchen and fried up a couple of my world famous pizzas (hey, in MY world, theyre famous, who else puts habenero in thier sauce?).

I got back in and I found both of them curled up together asleep. Both of them just curled up together in thier own little world.

Now I just have one small, nagging question. Why is that wrong? Why is it wrong for two women or two men to love eachother?
Nothing wrong with that.

However, I think they're a bit young to have sex, but that's not what they were doing and it's none of my business if they do.
