Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why is this wrong?

Actions tend to have consequences immediately. If not immediately, there will be a consequence. Your actions can have consequences in the lives of others long after you are dead and gone.

I don't believe in sin - I believe in dumb actions. Stealing is a dumb action. Getting yourself a Darwin award is a very dumb action.

Reality isn't always forgiving. Killing someone has irreversible consequences. No apologies can return the dead to their loved ones.

what i don't understand is why we are overwhelmed by homosexouality...

why everything promotes homosexouality...so many movies on gays, lesbians (i think there are more on gays though).

sometimes i feel pressured to accept something that it seems strange to me. i don't understand why my children would need to be raised in a society that accepts homosexouality 100%.

i don't condemn homosexouals, when they try to be decent social members as all of us should be.
i try to accept the person not the "habit", or the "taste". like... i like my friend, but i dislike her taste in clothing.

 I have only seen one gay movie and no lesbian ones. Where are these movies?

I was in a store today. A couple were hugging and cooing. It was so cute. If it were two men or two women, then they would have been "pushing it in peoples' faces."

Why would your children need to live in a world that accepts blacks or women either?

This question has a little story attached to it so be forewarned.

I had a couple of friends come over tonight. I wanted some company and they wanted an exscuse to be together. I should point out something, my two friends are female, lesbians, and in love. Rosie is 14 and Angel is 16, I met both of them in high school when they started dating and we've kept in touch. They curled up on my bed together and I sat on the end of the bed with my back against the wall.

We holed up in my room and talked for a while, various things, life in general. After a bit we got hungry so I went into the kitchen and fried up a couple of my world famous pizzas (hey, in MY world, theyre famous, who else puts habenero in thier sauce?).

I got back in and I found both of them curled up together asleep. Both of them just curled up together in thier own little world.

Now I just have one small, nagging question. Why is that wrong? Why is it wrong for two women or two men to love eachother?

If only they were bisexuals, you would have had the makings of many a young man's fantasy (or so I've been told--I'm too saintly to contemplate such things).

What does evolution says about homosexuality?

I don't know. I tried calling evolution but no one answered the phone. Gravity and chemistry, however, were both apathetic. They said they'd have evolution give me a call as soon as they saw evolution.

I think of Rome and how it fell when homosexuality and sin ran rampant. I feel our country is heading down the same path. I have a few friends who are openly gay and all I can do is plant a seed, not try to condemn or change them. God will judge, not me.
I just love them as I do all people. I pray they see and change their hearts and lifestyles, but that will be up to them. I just let them know how much I love them and that God loves them.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have some friends that are homophobes. But God will judge them. I just try to plant a seed.

Evolution would not necessarily be against homosexuality. A system needs both a means to speed it up and a means to slow it down. In our bodies we have nerves that cause our muscles to contract and nerves that cause our muscles to relax. If we did not have both, we could not function. If every heterosexual couple procreated willy-nilly, eventually there would be too many people and the species would be at risk.

Also, if homosexuals were not forced to enter into heterosexual marriages, maybe their genes would not get passed on! So...by forcing homosexuals to act heterosexually, heterosexuals are actually propogating the "problem."

There is one I know of offhand, The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls In Love. Its kinda corny in some parts but overall its really good

Guess again :) I dont have fantasies about two women. I personally dont see the appeal in having two women at once, its just...not something that lights my fire.

(or so I've been told--I'm too saintly to contemplate such things).
Riiiiight, keep telling yourself that

Because its creepy. Most straight men find homosexuality very creepy and wierd so it becomes bad.
You got it the wrong way around. People feel that it's "creepy" because they've been conditioned to do so. Muslim men may find that bikini girls are "creepy", and I've witnessed a Japanese student (in her late twenties) going "aaargh" when she witnessed a heterosexual couple kissing goodbye with a little smack on the cheek. (In PUBLIC! Oh, the horror!)

The discrepancy between the way male homosexuality and female homosexuality is regarded is mainly based on gender roles, if you ask me.
We've been conditioned to feel that a man does not show emotions, that it's manly to be detached, in control, stiff-upper-lippy. Contrast this with the way men were acting in the late 18th century: all emotional, WEEPING in public and writing poems about the way they were moved by watching a flowering meadow. Today, a guy can't even be moderately sensitive without having his masculinity put into question.

For women, on the other hand, it is perfectly okay to be emotional, touchy-feely, sensitive. They hug, they kiss, they hold hands, and still you wouldn't feel that they are "unwomanly". It's all about cultural conditioning and gender roles.

I see... so Rome actually didn't fall because all those barbarian tribes were migrating and overrunning the Empire's borders, but because the Romans didn't mind homosexuality (and Christianity).
What a fascinating conclusion! What a brilliant analysis of the geopolitical situation!

Now, this sentence really, really invites some sarcastic remarks. But I'm too saintly to make them.

The demonization and denigration of sexuality is one of the telltale signs of patriarchal cultures.

The only way this could ever work out for me would be to have a relationship in which ALL involved persons love each other. A relationship, to me, is never about "ME". It's about "US". About trust, commitment, taking care of each other.

Casual flings do not tempt me.

I dont have anything against casual or recreational sex as long as its done responsibly.

Sex is one of the beautiful things in life and shouldnt be treated like a tool.

Alot of people have that mentality. That sex is a tool, ONLY for marraige or ONLY for kids. I think thats a rather cold, dry, emotionless way to look at one of the best things in life. Treating something that should be a fun time like you treat an electric drill seems a little...wrong.

How did you project that into my post? How?

Sexuality is sacred to me, and I'm not into that whole "you must keep your virginity for your One True Love"-nonsense. I study tantra, do some research on sacred sexuality, and regard the sex act as a very profound form of worship.

That still doesn't mean that my partner wouldn't feel hurt and betrayed if I just jumped the bones of the next best attractive stranger passing my way - and rightly so! Besides, it would be exactly what you just described: a mere mechanical act, without any profound psychological or emotional involvement.
