  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why is science wrong?

I hear a lot of talk about how science is wrong, as if science can be bottled up into one single action or being that can be discounted. Though science is based on the scientific method, there are hardly any arguments against the scientific method itself.

I hear a lot of talk about how evolution is flawed because it cannot be proven, though neither can the theory of gravity. I see much support for nearly 99% of the sciences out there. You are all using computers, based on advanced sciences. You all take medication at one time or another, also based on advanced sciences. You go to sleep with the assumption that you will 1) wake up 2) with a rising sun 3) with oxygen to breath 4) in you rbed, not floating around the room, etc. You don't discount all the theories and sciences that make up these aspects of your lives.

So why evolution? Why the big-bang? Why abiogenesis? Why Pangea?
Is it that you truly feel that there is a major problem with science, and that science cannot be trusted?
Do you truly believe that despite the fact you readily rely on science on a daily basis, you reject parts that you don't personally agree with?

Or is it simply that you have a vendetta against anything that does not agree with your personal interpretation of the Bible?

If the sky is seen as being blue, yet the Bible were to say it was green, who would you believe?

So my question? Why is science wrong? What about it makes it incorrect?

This is the correct answer, I'm fairly certain about that. Science and all the advantages and comforts it provides are just super until the Bible is [seemingly] contradicted.

Less the word "seemingly," I couldn't have said this better, myself.

When science contradicts the Bible,* science can take a hike.

* Example: Calling a "babe in the womb" a "fetus."

AV say it isn't so!

You just used your code phrase to admit that the Bible is worthless.

Oh, didn't you know...?

When all those budding science students come pouring out of high school graduation ceremonies each year, the very first thing that all universities do is to sit them down and conduct rigorous psychological examinations on them...

Those that show evidence of honesty, integrity and hard work are immediately funnelled into physics and chemistry, while the liars and cheats are offered seats in biology, geology, palaeontology or cosmology........

1.) If creationists science is seen as the enemy, Richard Dawkins is at least partly to blame for that.

2.) Their theological education came from Bible thumpers who were themselves pretty illiterate theologically.

It is hard to blame Dawkins for his attitude when you look at the sort of people that oppose evolution.

The OP hasn't visited this site in 8 years!!!! No sense in directing replies to the OP!!!

Arrghh!! Mea Culpa! I fell for one of AV's thread resurrections.

Why does he feel this intense need to revisit his worse defeats?

Of course, one has to overlook such atheistic regimes as:

  1. Joseph Stalin, Soviet Union
  2. Mao Zedong, China
  3. Pol Pot, Cambodia

I'll admit, I did not read your entire post, none of it to be honest. I read the title though. I have watched Superman II, the 80's version and am prepared to answer. Science that rejects a possibility that it hasn't proven wrong is only fooling itself, and more so if it is professing to know better with such a huge doubt.

In other words, Science that rejects God, isn't trust worthy.

If God says don't kill, don't steal, and don't destroy, it seems that every problem is from those that reject God.

Have you ever noticed that when people incorrectly describe Hitler's regime as atheist, they also fail to mention anything about his allies in Italy and Japan...?

Why is that, do you think...?

People like to bring up the Crusades, the Inquisition, and the Witch Trials; and I usually have one question for them:

Did they do these things with respect to the Bible, or in spite of It?

Because Italy & Japan weren't atheist regimes?

Hitler was a Christian. And if he was a member of this forum you would have to acknowledge that he was a Christian.

And neither was Germany.....

No, I think they would find it embarrassing to their argument to have to lump all the Axis powers together....
