• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why is science wrong?

It doesn't matter at all what any of them believed or didn't believe.
Excuse me -- yes, it does.

Remember my original point?
Of course, one has to overlook such atheistic regimes as:

  1. Adolf Hitler, Germany
  2. Joseph Stalin, Soviet Union
  3. Mao Zedong, China
  4. Pol Pot, Cambodia

Your point is void. It's a misrepresentation of what went on in those countries.
If, for example, you believe that being skeptical of faith based claims is really what the problem is in countries like North Korea, then you have much bigger problems then I even imagined.

In any case, Facism is what is to blame in nazi Germany. Communism is what is to blame in soviet Russia.

As for Darwin's religious beliefs - they are completely irrelevant to the theory of evolution. Just like Einstein's and Newton's beliefs are irrelevant to the laws of motion, gravity and relativity theory.

I guess jesus being a jew might not have gone down a storm with the nazis.

Still, with nazism it's all about race, not religion. AV1611VET's reference about secularism and science isn't to do with atheism. Bit I'd be interested in seeing the original Hitler quote in context, though, in one of his speeches or books.

Whoever believed that Hitler was an atheist and then came across this citation, if they were honest and had a shred of integrity, they would say something like - "Wow! I was totally wrong about Hitler being an atheist. I learned something new today!"

Let's see how this plays out.

Obviously lots of modern science is wrong. But it's less wrong than it used to be, and will continue to become less wrong in the future. And, as it is now, it is a pretty effective description of most aspects of the material world.

Yet again:
QV please:
The Nazi Fuehrer Adolf Hitler stated repeatedly Nazism was a secular ideology founded on science.
SOURCE
Hitler would have said anything to keep from incurring the ire of the Catholics w/i his borders, IMO.

Again, from Post 28:
Adolf Hitler was raised by an anticlerical, sceptic father and a devout Catholic mother. Baptized and Confirmed as a child, he ceased to participate in the sacraments after childhood. In adulthood, he became disdainful of Christianity, but in power was prepared to delay clashes with the churches out of political considerations. It is generally believed by historians that Hitler's long term aim was the eradication of Christianity in Germany.

Again, from Post 28:

I really don't care how others describe him. I'm going to the source.

Again, from Hitler himself:

"Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord."

-Adolf Hitler (Mein Kampf)

Here's more from Hitler:

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people."

-Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922

"Verily a man cannot serve two masters. And I consider the foundation or destruction of a religion far greater than the foundation or destruction of a state, let alone a party."

-Adolf Hitler speaking like Jesus in Matthew 6:24 (Mein Kampf)

He wasn't your kind of Christian, but he was definitely not an atheist. Anyone who has read any of his writings and speeches, spanning over two decades, and comes away the notion that he was an atheist, is either a liar with an agenda, or is in denial.

He wasn't your kind of Christian,
Let me give you a couple of FYIs:

1. As one poster here so-aptly put it:
I guess jesus being a jew might not have gone down a storm with the nazis.
2. I don't know if you know this or not, but many of we 38,000+ different sects of Christianity ... mine included ... believe Adolf Hitler was a forerunner of the Antichrist.
... but he was definitely not an atheist.
I'll concede the point that he wasn't an atheist; it's up to you to conclude he wasn't a Christian.

It does not matter what a few Christians believe. They have had that belief many times in the past. It was never found to be the case.

Hitler was one of yours. It is undeniable. Yes, Stalin was one of ours. So was Mao. We are not afraid to name some atheists who were evil. Why do you deny the people of your religion that were clearly evil?

Poor Hitler. No one wants him.

Hitler was not Christian, I believe he put his faith in "providence" or something, but he did not believe in a Christian God or seek to find the meaning of what it means to be a Christian or live as a Christian etc.

Stuff he said were probably to sway the masses of which he was exceptionally good at doing.

He did believe in his divine right (through 'providence') to do whatever he wanted though and had faith in himself and the 'purity of his race'.

Ignorance and bigotedness were also traits of his and when coupled with a desire to change the world for the better or at least what he thought was better and an utterly ruthless way of doing it.... oh dear.

Hitler was a lot of crazy, and not the good kind of crazy. Who cares really what he believed, it wasn't his motivation for the atrocities he committed, and even if that were the case people like him look for excuses wherever they can get them.

Hitler had his own brand of Christianity. If he had survived the war he would probably have eventually had a chain of churches like the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Mormon's do. They both consider themselves Christians, but their extreme views separate them from other sects of Christianity.

Come on, it would have probably been more like idol worship, with Hitler as their "god".
