You see! Jesus Christ is above all of us. If he gave us a manual (The Holy Bible) we still need to read it. Although it is the manual it only a summary of the laws. I've read the entire Holy Bible. It doesn't mean my brain is big enough to hold the entire laws and it certainly doesn't mean I can interprete every single word verbatim. Jesus Christ spoke 2016 years ago. Tomorrow it will be 2017 years that Jesus Christ has first came to earth. So The Holy Bible is at least 1000 years old. The earliest version I have is from 1611 AD. Initially the events had to be carried out by words of mouth and eventually copied from generation to generation eventually.

- how do you believe in someone you cannot see?
the unique thing about christianity is the concept of redemption -
an understanding that we can't do this on our own -
we need a savior -
someone to pay the price we can't pay -
you don't need Jesus
-if-
you don't need help

I am who some may call a 'seeker' but have grown discouraged. Grew up in a religious household and now am in my late 20s.

Its easy to see the God exists. Creation makes that evident.

I feel like I know God. I've felt His presence. I don't know doctrinally who He is... the God of Abraham; Mohammed; or the Trinity.

I'm sure he is not 100% pleased with me and the way I live but I can only do so much in this skin. I have many ingrained desires and wants which, without supernatural help, I cannot overcome.

But I just cannot come to believe in Jesus (and I have tried for over 20 years). I cannot see him. And there is no evidence of him from what I can see except from history and what people call the New Testament which I have read over many times and yes it is very beautiful and thoughtfully written albeit by men. The message is very compelling but it stops there - at 'believe in me'.

So I raise this question, to help me understand, to those on this forum who say they know Jesus on a personal level - how do you believe in someone you cannot see?

How do you know that you know Jesus on a personal level and not the God of Abraham or some other?

Remember nature tells us there is a God, however I know of nothing that tells me there is a Jesus and He is alive today.... nothing. How do you know who you are talking to when you pray is not the God of Abraham or Mohammed? What am I missing/not doing?
You asked" how do you believe in something that you can't see?" Well my answer is that I have felt the presence of something wonderful after my conversion to christianity.I'm talking about a strong comforting presence that was distinct and separate from anything I've ever experienced before in my life.Yet this wasn't Jesus...I believe it was the holy spirit which was promised.Okay so if I could feel the holy spirit like Jesus said then that fact helped me believe that Jesus also exists. I simply chose to believe the evidence that was presented to me.I have yet to see or have a vision of Jesus.

He has not answered my calls for help when facing temptation. This has lead me to conclude that I must not actually know Jesus, otherwise He would give me strength. This is partly what has prompted this search.
I could be wrong about what is to follow, because I have no way of knowing for sure by what you are writing here, but it seems to me that the problem of your not actually knowing Jesus might be attributable to how you are dealing with thoughts. Coming to really know Jesus is not an easy thing to do, and it doesn't happen all at once. It happens a little bit at a time if we struggle, in prayer, to bring our impure thoughts before Him so that these thoughts can be judged in the Light of His commandments (we must also study the Gospels so that we know these commandments). Without this struggling against our passion poisoned thoughts, we cannot come to truly know Christ, because we will not become like Him. To know "about" Christ is not salvation. We must know "Him", by having become like Him.

This is where the old saying comes from, that "it takes one to know one", that we as kids would say if someone called us a bad name. Thus, it takes one who is pure to know the One Who is Pure. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." (Matthew 5:8) When we let impure thoughts enter into our heart they defile it, by this means, we deliver ourselves into slavery in sin, and can't help but commit the sins in deed.

Jesus loves me this I know, because the Bible tells me so.

We know that Columbus exists, or Eisenhower, or Einstein, etc. without seeing them. We have pictures of course, but we also know that Plato, Socrates, Alexander the Great, etc. to which we have no pictures. We know that billions of people have lived since God created us without seeing any them.

You get the point. Now what do we know about Christ. We know what the Bible tells us. Many people poopoo the Bible as a reliable historical source. The principles of historical research applied to Plato is mysteriously not applied to the Bible. For Plato the only extant manuscripts are 900 years after his death. For Christ and the Apostles the extant manuscripts are only decades old after the death of Christ.

The general principle of historical research is that a document is more likely to be genuine and accurate the closer it is to the events it document portrays. With this standard, the New Testament is the most reliable document than any other work of antiquity.

For this and many other reasons, both inside and outside of the text of the New Testament, we can be assured that it is not fantasy or fiction.

Many people witnessed the teachings and miracles of Jesus. Had this been a hoax, those many witnesses would have caught him on it and secular historians, such as Josephus, would surely have reported it.

What I have outlined here is the beginning of a foundation to know with some assurance who Jesus is and the veracity of his claims and the reports of the apostles about him.

Those reports from the apostles tells us that Jesus is alive today. They witnessed, and many others did too, the risen Christ. Jesus told us that he would be with us until the end of the age. Since Jesus is not a liar we can bank on it.

We can begin with what we know, then belief will follow, and finally, our heart will then follow.

There is more to answer your questions, but since it the beginning of knowledge.

I would Love to. If by "give your life" you mean 'change it', I do not harbor the ability to change at all. I can do it temporarily yes, but I cannot maintain. I've asked Him to help... but... I don't know... I feel like I've been sincere. How hard should it really be to change a mere human like me? Even with the help of someone who created the universe...

You are right, you can't change. If that was the hope of Christ brought, then we would be hopeless because we cannot change ourselves.

John 3:3

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God

You have to be born again. At the moment of your belief in Christ as Lord and Savior, God sends the Holy Spirit to live inside of you making you into a new person. Before that happens, you are spiritually dead in trespasses and sins; it is impossible for you to please Him.

God enables you to believe because faith in a gift from God. I see you have a lot of questions, and I did too when I first came to the Lord. What He taught me to do was to put them aside and trust Him, and give Him the room to answer them if and when He pleased. Since that time, God has answered many of my questions, but in His time and not mine. God does not allow us to condition our faith in Him with answered questions. He demands our faith first, giving Him the room to answer when He sees fit.

Ok, so why does God make it like this to where we must gather that He loves us and went through what He went through for us? Why doesn't He just come out and make it known to all the world and so everyone praises Him? Is it because it makes Him so happy when someone decides by themselves they don't want to continue to pursue sin? Is this a contest? If thats the case then why does He not make it so obvious that sin is so harmful? Why does He allow the nefariousness of sin to still be so well hidden? It doesn't compute. I realize His ways are not our ways... but that doesn't mean we need not know why (the "Owners Manual" analogy). If he would make it known to the world how horrid pursuing sin is and what a trap it is, would we not all turn from it?

I wanted to give you my take on this. I don't think God is hiding how bad sin is from us; the destructiveness of sin is on full display in the Earth. Look at the personal destruction that happens to people who engage in sinful behaviors. If you take the ten commandments for example, people who steal are often found out, go to jail and have their records ruined for employment. Those who steal from their friends and family destroy their relationships with them. Those who commit adultery destroy entire families. They get various STDs and end up getting someone pregnant (or getting pregnant), ruining another childs life. Those who are jealous of their neighbor end up fighting and quarreling with them, destroying the peace of the neighborhood.

Those are just some examples..societal problems are bigger. War, poverty, starvation, the sex and slave trade, etc. These are all rooted in sin, mans inhumanity towards man. His lack of love and compassion for others. It is evident that we live in a fallen world, ravaged by sin, just as the bible describes. It is mans failure to love God and to love one another that result in the sin that we see today.

The reason that God has not returned yet is because of mercy. If He returned He would have to judge the world. He is waiting on His return so that as many as possible find salvation and escape His righteous judgment.

Have you ever seen a Pixar movie? That would be like Monsters, Inc. or Toy Story. They are all computer generated. That means that there is no ink, pen, pencil, brush or even paper. If you were to look at the raw data straight from the computer, all you would be able to see is ones and zeros. It isn't until the computer is told to run the movie that you see the characters move.

Just so, just because you don't SEE Jesus doesn't mean He is not there. He is there.

Or, what about sound? You can't see it. It can only be defined as vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach a person's or animal's ear.

You can't see sound. Looking at an oscilloscope, you can see a visual depiction of a sound, but if there is no speaker, can you hear it?

Just because you can't see/hear/touch/taste/smell something does not mean it is not real.

Can you sense it is your birthday? Yet you know it comes around every year. Jesus is more real than your birthday, or a sound, or a Pixar movie.

Bet on it!

Well, it took me a long time to figure out there must be a God, so you are ahead me on that one.

Your first question is easy, since the God we pray to is the God of Abraham, that is a given, there was no NT when Jesus walks the earth, there is only OT and Jesus also tell us OT is the word of God. The message of NT/OT is very consistent, even if you ask Jewish rabbis, most of them will tell you the biggest law is to "Love God and Love your neighbors as yourself".

As for God of Mohammed, in theory it is also the God of Abraham. Just check out all the verses in Quran on the Bible. I will give you 2 of them here:
Quran 5:47 Let the people of the Injeel (Gospel) judge by what Allah has revealed therein....
Surah 10:94 So if you are in doubt, [O Muhammad], about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters.

Remember those are written 300 years after the Bible is formed, which clearly indicates the Bible is passed down to us by God and contains the truth. However if you ask, most Muslims will say the Bible is corrupted (contradict to their own book). So the God the Muslims believe in might not be the same God of Abraham, not even the God of Muhammad.

dc87.... why not just just ask Him. Yeshua/JESUS is REAL! See the key is to ask with your heart...ask Him any way you want.. but mean it... and no you have not..yet. JESUS IS REAL! Call on all the so called gods.. from allah to Christ Jesus.. to you name it..only ONE will answer.

So ASK HIM! Are you really who they say you are?..ASK HIM! HAHA you think your here asking by chance.. that YOU thought of it? He went to a town..that had so much DOUBT it STOPPED GOD! He could do no might works.. just lay hands a few and teach.

"not happy with you"? Well if HE does not judge you nor condemn you in ANY WAY.. just WHAT is He not happy with? SIN? HE died for it ALREADY.. already forgave you. Hey ..its a free gift.. He came so He would not lose you forever.. no one else could do it. He left heaven.. became man.. offered up HIS life so YOU would not have to. It COST GOD something to come and die.

He LOVES YOU.. He is not mad upset unhappy in ANY WAY. He LOVE is not measured by how good or bad you are. So.. ask HIM.. and go on with life.. HE WILL ANSWER HE WILL SHOW UP! If HE is real.. HE will

God has indeed blessed this Forum.

I've read through everyones posts. Thank you all.
There is much meditation I must do.

Some curiosities still remain ...

So honestly you knew it was true because it made sense; or because you needed an answer and that was the best you've heard; or because an uncanny voice in your brain said yes what you just heard is true?

Ok, so why does God make it like this to where we must gather that He loves us and went through what He went through for us? Why doesn't He just come out and make it known to all the world and so everyone praises Him? Is it because it makes Him so happy when someone decides by themselves they don't want to continue to pursue sin? Is this a contest? If thats the case then why does He not make it so obvious that sin is so harmful? Why does He allow the nefariousness of sin to still be so well hidden? It doesn't compute. If he would make it known to the world how horrid pursuing sin is and what a trap it is, would we not all turn from it?

Does that belief come from us (which IMHO would be a blind gamble/bet we place based on our spiritual experiences or to fill a void/need), or, did the belief you currently have come, not from you deeming it was correct, but from a 'Holy Spirit' MAKING your heart believe He died and rose again? (if that is the case then my first question still stands... why does he not make it UNDENIABLY obvious to the entire planet that those events are undoubtedly true?

Call me Thomas.

Been there. Thank you.

Thomas you truely are a seeker, thank you for patiently reading all the post here on behalf of everyone (myself included) and for your humbleness, i really admire your curiosity and am so happy for the amount of questions you've presented, i'll respond to them all with all that i know and with as much love attached to them as possible :"D.

Let's begin :).

"Why doesn't He just come out and make it known to all the world and so everyone praises Him? Is it because it makes Him so happy when someone decides by themselves they don't want to continue to pursue sin? Is this a contest?"

Please bare with me with the large amount of info i will spill out and thanks in advance for reading it all.

Before Adam and Eve fell, they had control over Earth, it was theirs, when they fell however they lost that control, they became subjected to the elements of the earth and the bible makes it clear that we are descendent of the third child of Adam, one who was born in his image (the fallen image, the one subjected to the world), Jesus was God however, and when Jesus came he was the seed spoken of in Galatians 3:16 "The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ." and through Christ we become seeds of Abraham, Galatians 3:29
"And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise."

"for, “The earth is the Lord’s,and the fullness thereof."
The earth belongs to us, and it is our job "we Seeds of Abraham" to look after it, it is us who will manifest the glory of god, he doesn't have to come here to do it, because he already is, in us, we are here to represent Jesus as he is gone up in heaven to represent us before the Father and the Angles, Jesus himself says to us "Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."
and like Jesus, we're in his position as he was when he came to earth,
the following verse uses the Father which refer to God btw :) (just in case)

John 14:8-11
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves."

"...19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you..."

This is the reason why we know him ^, i'll give ya a person experience later on :).

Romans 8:21-22
"...that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time."
these children are us.
In short, God letting us know anything doesn't fix it, for example, if saw a pot fall and break, knowing it doesn't fix the pot, you have to go and do the work of cleaning or fixing it, God has made himself known to the world through Jesus Christ, not only that, he has dealt with Sin, Sin is no longer a problem, he already sent Jesus to get rid of it forever, through his blood we are cleanse and through his strips we are healed, The real problem is this: John 1:11 "He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him."
We were under sin, walking in darkness as the bible says, we have free will, and he will not force himself or salvation upon us, it is our choice brother, and sadly not many people have heard that Sin is even taken care of or of the existence of sin :(, it is our job to make sure they do, God has done his part, we have a responsibility as his children.
Romans 6:14 "For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace."
And God is happy when someone turns away from sin, i don't think it's a contest, but more of how open your heart is to him, or free will.
Luke 15:7 "In the same way, I tell you that there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous ones who do not need to repent."
:), all is in the book brother!

Okey!, let's move on to the next question :D

"If thats the case then why does He not make it so obvious that sin is so harmful?"
This is not fair since i'v given the information then answering it after that so let's cut it short hahaha, Yeah sin has been dealt with by the death of Christ Jesus so it is no longer a problem :)).

This part is interesting:
"Why does He allow the nefariousness of sin to still be so well hidden? If he would make it known to the world how horrid pursuing sin is and what a trap it is, would we not all turn from it?"

I do not think he allows it to be hidden, all the problems of the world originate from sin and the devil, Satan is on the earth
John 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

people are simply unaware, they do not have the information or access to it as you and i do, like how you're reading this right now, this is our problem, not God's, and Again, the bible may be right next to these people, like myself i had bibles in my house for years... i only picked it up 6 months ago, and another person may be able to buy a bible in a click of a button but do they do it?, as God says in
Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."
knowledge in the things of God, And yes, And it's not Sin that people would turn from if they knew how bad it is, because they are already in that bad condition, and some have become subjected to Sin, they love sin, Satan himself has sowen his seeds and what works do you think they might do? Evil works, there are those that love being evil, we however would turn from sin if we heard the truth, that we have in fact been freely given salvation, that we are healed, but that will be determine by our willingness to accept the truth for what it is, Jesus himself says just being able to hear the truth is all it takes for you to turn and be healed, but are your ears going to hear the truth as it is? or hear it your way?, or are you going to see the truth and see it for what it is or look but not really look? you can look at someone but actually focus on staring at something in the background or daydream, that's not really looking.
Matthew 13:15 "For this people’s hearth as grown callous; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.’"

*The Parable of the Sower*
Matthew 13

That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”

10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. 12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 13 This is why I speak to them in parables:

“Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:

“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’[a]
16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17 For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

18 “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

Okey, i'll get to the last question "Does that belief come from us (which IMHO would be a blind gamble/bet we place based on our spiritual experiences or to fill a void/need), or, did the belief you currently have come, not from you deeming it was correct, but from a 'Holy Spirit' MAKING your heart believe He died and rose again? This is complex but i'll give ya what i think is my answer and you can ask me if i need to re-specially answer something in there :).

Yes that belief comes from us John 3:5 "Jesus answered “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit."
That scripture i gave you is how any human being in this world can Receive Salvation by being born again, once you do, all that has been promised to you in the bible come to pass, including Jesus sending the holy spirit to you, to accept him as your lord and saviour is not gambling, i was searching for the truth as you are, both Christian and non Christian alike, i found the world to be very dark, i was already a christian but i did not know what i had, although i knew God's presence i was not born again, so when god guided me back to himself
Romans 8:29 "For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.", i was lazy, i didn't bother to try and learn the word of god, i saw Christianity as just another religion, i lived accordingly to what i had learnt from the word of god though, but that didn't mean i was not a sinner since i was not born again, of the will and spirit of god, i believe in my case God used the Mormon folks to get me where i needed to be, i didn't resonate with their teaching, and i later moved to the library with them where i met two people who were having their own bible study sessions, one of them met me and asked me to join their study sessions, i left the Mormon folks in the process of our weekly meetings, they too were listening to this bible study session, i recongised the word of god because it was familiar to me, and as soon as i came into contact with the word of god, i was eager to learn more about god because he was light and what i had seen was dark, i came across being born again which was being taught by these two people at this library (we still have these sessions weekly and i know them now as great friends), now, being "born again" got to me, it was about your heart changing, it wasn't physical like baptism, it was a spiritual birth, and baptism is suppose to symbols this spiritual activity, your old self dies away, and you arise anew, now, i was being troubled by some spirits at this time, i was aware of my spirit or being resonating low in the realms, and it was the reason for me experiencing these attacks, however they were never successful because i would call out Jesus and nothing would touch me, yet my heart was troubled, at one time, my eyes were opened in the spirit, as i laid asleep, now a dark figure was hovering over me, i was frighten, but not enough to not be able to think, i tried something, i said "Yeshua", which is Jesus in my native tongue, this had no effect, so i tried saying it again, and nothing happened, so i said "Jesus", and a hand, transparent and blue like (a hand of a spiritual), now i though, if this was my hand, then why did i not feel myself moving it, i was watching it arise from my own body as if it were not my own hand, anyway the hand converted that figure into the same colour that surrounded me, a glow of blue and it became a part of me and fear disappeared as soon as the hand touched this figure (holy spirit), John 4:4 "You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.". then something happened one night and more of it did for the few days after that and i don't know how to explain this but Jesus did dwell in my heart, in that state i asked myself this "How could and how did we ever live without God in our Hearts?, how?" it was like we had that place in us that was made for God that whole time and we tried to fill it with all kinds of things in this world... one night i was in this place "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God", i was there... i saw a child, a spirit child, i still don't fully understand, at first it appeared to me that this child was Christ, but then i asked, why would Christ be a child?, and if it was me, then why was i looking at myself from different eyes?, now after this experiance i haven't had any negative forces come to my presence in the spirit, even when i re-enter those same places that they once were in, because my spirit is no longer in the same plane of existence, nor is it of this world but that of the will of god.
Romans 8:15 "For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship,by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”"
Like our father, we must use our mouths, it is no gamble.

Romans 10:10-17
"10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him."

Theres a reason its called faith. It believeing that which you cant see. That does not mean there is no faith in the orld though. I have received healing from prayer (instant on the spot healing that lasted) and at other times have not received healing. I have prayed for people for healing and some have ben healed, others havent. Both includes people with cancer. i have had prophetic words spoken over me which came to pass and prophecied over others things that came to pass. At other times they didnt. I have seen the blind receive sight, the lame walk. delivery from addiction and mental illness.

Yet with all that, the evidence in my life of Gods existence is the fruit in my life and my relationship with Him. I have a peace beyond understanding and love for those I have no reason to love.

If you struggle to know God my recommendation is to pray regularly for God to reveal Himself to you. Often before people are prepared to pray the sinners prayer and give their life to Jesus they need to prepare their heart and seek God. Our becoming Christians and accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour is a journey imo and (although it can be sometimes) not often an instant transformation. The point where you accept Him will be a transformation though.

I will pray that Jesus reveals himself to you. See Jesus went away to heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for us. He can make Himself known at anytime, yet he goes away so he can send the comforter (the holy spirit) whom you cant actually see, to anyone who believes. This is so he can reach out to the entire world, instead of, when he was on earth, just the house of israel and the few people living in the holy land.

This is why the witnesses wrote down what has become the new testament. This scripture is testimony to what Jesus did in peoples lives and contains revelation in what He will do in yours if you believe. Jesus hasnt left us without anything concrete to go on, Hes left us with his Word, in the Bible. His Word will never pass away. That scripture is active and alive, so if you open to reading it, I recommend you do and believe what Jesus says.

Thanks for your reply. However I do know God exists even though I cannot see Him. I know he exists by seeing His creation. This does not hint in anyway that Jesus exists however.

Who do you believe God's Son is?

Do Muslims not say the same thing? Do they know Jesus as well?
No. Muslims do not believe that Jesus is the Creator.
Moreover, Islamic teaching on who Jesus is is completely different than Biblical teaching.

So, do do Muslims really know Jesus? For example, if one person tells us that Napoleon was a short French person who led the armies of France across Europe and established and empire there, and another person tells of a Napoleon who was Chinese and had a veterinary clinic in San Francisco, can it be said that both people know Napoleon as well?
It has never really made sense to me that people say that both Christians and Muslims believe in Jesus. There has really got to be more involved in who a person is that mere name-dropping.

Even though I cannot see Jesus, I one-hundred percent believe in His existence and love Him so much. Why? Because ever since day one of my salvation, even though I had long strayed over the years, He remained faithful to me and protected me against many dangers. This proved to be true when He literally intervened in a mess I had gotten myself into and saved me from death. I was literally pretty close to it, and He spared my life. I have never forgotten what He did, or the people who he sent at that airport to temporarily take care of me. I believe in Him because I have had a long endured life of verbal abuse from my father, me and my mother both, and I always felt His presence. I always felt He was there, His arms wrapped around me. And I still feel His presence. There is no greater comfort, peace, or joy one can feel than to literally feel the Holy Spirit and just KNOW the Lord is there.

Your post reminds me of Hebrews 11.6: "He that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." :)

Thank you to all that have replied. I have grown since my first posting. Still coming to terms with my assurance however.

The following are some thoughts I had while reading and jotted down, though I have answered some for myself already. They may still be curiosities for some however.

... At the moment of your belief in Christ as Lord and Savior, God sends the Holy Spirit to live inside of you making you into a new person....

Exactly... I am not a new person at all! Half the people here say that it takes time to know Christ. The other half and from what you just said, and what I've been told in the past, I gather that it is supposed to be an instant transformation of sorts. This is the most confusing part about it and is what causes doubt!

He is waiting on His return so that as many as possible find salvation and escape His righteous judgment.

I don't know. Most would argue that if He had returned shortly after His resurrection then there would have been A LOT less people which would have been judged since they (including you and me) would never have existed and we would have had nothing to worry about. So at first thought, Him waiting to return is not necessarily a good thing at all... at first thought IMHO.

... Jesus is more real than your birthday, or a sound, or a Pixar movie....

I hope that someday he is to me.

... It COST GOD something to come and die....

I imagine it did but what?

He thought you were to die for!!!!

You see,you were worth so much to Him. Your soul was in hock to sin and death. All of the gold, all of the silver, and all of the precious jewels in Earth and in Heaven was not enough to pay the cost of your redemption to get you out of the pawn shop. It cost God the most precious thing, the life of His only begotten son. What great love He has for you.

John 3:16King James Version (KJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Just believe this and don't worry about feelings.
