I'm sorry I in no way meant to offend you - I have friends who are Calvinists, and I totally respect their stance and would hope that they in return respect my stance.

Im sorry but i really have to disagree with that. Christians have many outward signs such as:
The fruit of the spirit
poor in spirit
righteousness
forgivfulness
humbleness
ect..
I can often tell which religion they are just by seeing how they behave.

There are non-Christians who are "humble" and cool and all that, and there are Christians who are not. That's not a good indicator, not to mention I think those signs or really subjective and not very obvious. I'd too like to know how they knew you were Christian, if you didn't tell them? Not that it much matters, as I think we've decided they're just putting pressure on your because you're going against the grain.

well.. i don't like to be the bearer of bad news, however, being picked upon or teased or ridiculed for not conforming to the "norm" is, well... the norm.

i would be quite surprised if you were being picked upon because of your religion. do these people pick on other Christians?

words have power over us when we permit them to do so. words that stir our passions and inflame our emotions are quite difficult to resolve and react to without responding in an equally emotive manner.

if you are set on keeping your friends, and you'd like this behavior to stop, you really have one of two choices... either confront them about it and explain why it bothers you and ask them to stop. if they refuse, you're probably better off with a new set of friendds. or realize that they tease due to their own insecurity and let it roll off of your back.

as Rush sings... if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

i would encourage you to make the best choice for your own spiritual wellbeing.

Well, one reason might be previous negative experiences with Christians. So, maybe you should try to change that impression.

I agree. The impression that most Americans (and others world-wide) have about Christians seems to be very negative, overall. I fear that we as Christians have been very bigoted in our evangelism. We have tried to bully people into seeing it our way, instead of recognizing and accepting the fact that not everyone in this country is Christian... or will be.

Quite frankly, our only job on this earth, as I see it, is to spread the GOOD NEWS about Jesus, and work on ourselves to become more like Christ. If our neighbor chooses to live a life that we don't agree with, it is not up to us to call attention to their "sin," try to oust them from our churches or communities, or have laws passed against them, etc. If they reject Christianity, it is our duty to simply move on, not beat them over the head with our Bibles.

In short, I don't believe that people make fun of Christians for our beliefs so much as they just don't want us imposing our beliefs on them anymore. Just my opinion.
