Why do people make fun of Us because our beliefs are different?

If we are truly serving God as we should then God will show himself mighty in your life. Jesus said " these signs shall follow them that believe, in my name they shall cast out devils, in my name they shall raise the dead, they shall speak with new tounges, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover". If we live according to the bible's instructions these things will happen in our lives and we wont be worrying about what others think about our beliefs. God isnt about belief but about relationship. When we enter into the relationship with God that he originally intended, our life itself will have the power without saying a word to win peoples "opinion".
In our ministry we see miracles, signs and wonders all the time and because of that people are coming to the Lord and changing their mind about God. Regardless of what anyone thinks I know God is real and that is all that matters and if I am doing my job, the will of God for my life(Romans ch 12) then God will see my life succesful, no matter what! God bless you all!

I can only tell people who I really trust and who have an open mind that I am Pagan, the amount of misinformation bandied around about my beliefs means that many people think that paganism is like devil worship when nothing could be further from the truth.

Everyone who follows a chosen path comes up against predjudice sometime, it is following that path and holding tight to your beliefs, no matter what they are, that will get you through.

People are always scared of something that they do not understand.

I cant just go find another crowd. This guys i will be going to school with for 3 years. They are my only friends here and if it werent for the fact that bug me about being a christian they would eb perfect ppl to be friends with. And its not like all of them do it, just a few of them.

Either you go to a really small school or you just don't know anyone else. If you go to a really small school and you honestly REALLY have no choice but to hang out with these guys, then find something you can do together that you all enjoy.

If there are other people in your school, then you don't HAVE to be friends with these people. Are they people you admire? Do you respect them? Do they respect you? If the answer to any of these questions is "no" then they should not be your friends. Otherwise they just pull you down, and you wouldn't be living up to the potential God wants for you (and, I hope, what you want for yourself!)

I agree with others here that this seems to be more of a peer-pressure thing than a relgion thing. For some reason you got stuck with the wrong crowd, and you simply need a new one.

Like i said, i cant really just go to another crowd. I go to a medium size college and im in a golf program. My college is like highschool. You are with the same group of people for every class. I cant just go find new ppl cuz the other kids do the same thing and just go out and party. If they didnt do that i would hang with them but i am first year and everyone else is way older so there isnt much point of doing that.

Don't let other poeple dictate who you are, They will respect your wishes if you stay firm, and probably be happy for a designated driver in the future. Just keep the faith my brother, God bless you.

My friends of high school and I have hit a bump in our friendship road. We have had a disagreement over faith. The thing to remember is not to get frustrated with them. They don't see things at my level and it's hard to reach each others level b/c it's over something very personal like faith and people don't like to move when it's personal. I am trying to handle it as a good rep. of my faith and if they don't do the same with their own personal beliefs than I'm not going to get mad (okay I will, but only in my car and then I'll get over it)

Just remember that they don't see things as clearly as we do. Try to be understanding.

I generally don't tell people I'm Christian because of the general flak that comes with the title. I don't have the same beliefs as your average Christian anyway. I'd rather they just hang out with me and make an informed decision about whether they like me or not rather than have them start with a twisted stereotype.

But this thread has gone in a different direction. I'd say that it's more peer pressure than anything else.

Religion makes alot of people uncomfortable. And if you make someone uncomfortable, chances are good they'll be agressive, IE: Make fun of you.

I get more confusion than teasing. "Pagan...whaaa?"

If there is one thing that drives me up the wall is the fact that people make fun and judge people for what they believe in. I know myself i have always been picked on because i believe in god and i am a christian. I mean just because my beliefs na dlifestyle is different then some people's I dont get why they have to make fun and judge!!!!

These people are immature. I experienced a similar thing when i was a christian (in fact some people dont know that im not, so i get treated oddly occasionaly). Best thing to do is ignore them. Me and my mum were discussing this. It was all about respect and tolerance. I know of many who cant stand the beleif, but a few can, even though we dont beleive. I guess thats because i used to be a christian.

Meh... I dont know what others think or feel and i hope i havent offended anyone :sorry:

Ya pays yer nickel and ya makes yer choice.

You can go along with the crowd and give up your principles.

You can keep the same company, maintain your principles, and bear the flack patiently.

You can retaliate with righteous indigation.

You can isolate yourself socially.

You can choose some mix of the above strategies.

Remember, if morality and ethics were easy, they would not be so notable.

No good deed goes unpunished. If they were unpunished, there would be more of them.

Principles cost us. That is why so many people do what they want and count on Jesus to save them for what they pretend to believe, and ignore what they do and don't do. "Lord, Lord!", they cry, but they continue to cheat, steal and torment.

Ya pays yer nickel and ya makes yer choice.

Having been on both sides of the tracks I can certainly understand why christians get harrassed. Their meekness, kind-heart and helpful hand is a mirror which shows the dark nature of the heathen's soul. Christians want to help, want to save want to testify but that can work against them because it direct implies that non-christians need help, must be saved and have to be convinced to leave their wicked and unrighteous ways.

Obviously it would create, shall we say, animosity.

Then again, I may be wrong.
