Probably missconceptions by people who hear wicca being described as "witchcraft"
Also, the pentacle being called a devil symbol doesnt help much.
The irony that the pentacle is also a symbol for the 5 wounds of christ is general lost on many wicca hating christians.
ohhhhh we'll start a 'symbols' thread one day....
I might be banned for it though... but it is in my plans when my research is done...
Hint: Early Christians consider the cross a symbol of shame... yet today it's viewed as a religious symbol. The cross also has symbolic roots in early Greek mythology....

Well, actually yes it would. It would just be a christian forum with a different Goal. These forums are here for both christians and non-christians to discuss issues. However an exclusively Christian board would be for Christians to discuss isuues within the church and their own differences of beliefs, and to build each other up by ministering to them. That doesn't mean to say that it would not be a *true* Christian board does it? Just one with a different aim....

Christ himself stated he came for the unbelievers not the believers. If they chunk all the non-believers out of here.. then it is no longer a 'Christian' forum, (by definition), since the whole notion of Christianity is following the life example of Christ.
Just my point of view...

No, again it depends on the aim. If they are christian forums meant for christians only - that doesn't make them non christian. Like i said - they just have a different aim - thats all...

I'm new here, and I really don't feel like reading through hundreds of posts so I'm going to cut to the chase. I don't really know why Christians dislike Wicca. I myself think that it's kind of neat. I am Christian personally, and I don't really belive in magic, so I don't see the harm in it.

I think the reason some Christians hate Wicca in particular is because of the current state of Christianity more than anything else. Its in a period of decline, and while it has to a certain extent learnt to live and let live with older religions, the newer ones present a current threat, particularly when they gain large numbers of young people (which the church lacks) so they come in for the brunt of the anger.
That and of course we have these centuries-old stories about evil witches (Snow White anyone?) which make it that much easier to be against Wicca/Paganism than other religions.
And as for the misunderstanding (deliberate or not) about Wicca/Paganism, partly that is unavoidable. Paganism is so amorphous, with even Wicca having nothing much by way of a creed or statement of belief, that it makes apologetics quite difficult for those who are that way inclined Its easier to generalise (which causes inaccuraces of course) or just to assume that what one author (who may be lying/biased) says is correct than it is to attempt to figure out what each and every variation of Paganism believes - an almost impossible task, and then counter it.
There is not a lot Pagans can do about that. But there are plenty of Christians who are not like that, plenty who can disagree with your religion while still liking you - in the same way as most Wiccans disagree with Christianity but may have Christian friends.

Deuteronomy 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
These are Old Testament Scriptures under the covenant of law. We are no longer commanded to stone witches to death, but we are commanded to depart from evil. It's really not a matter of hating the person, rather of hating the evil.

It's all very simple and has nothing to do with gender. There is only one Almighty God, the Holy Trinity (God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit). Any other god or goddess is with a little "g" and would be idolatry, evil, and satan worship. Any intellectual attempt to change this fact would simply be satan's deception.

Before anyone decides to reply with: that's your opinion as a Christian or stop trying to convert everyone, please remember that the original post was asking why Christians hate Wiccans. And I'm giving my Christian answer.
The only thing that matters is that you either serve God or serve sin. You either trust in Jesus or live in sin.
It doesn't matter if a Wiccan is killing people or just loving the earth. I know several Wiccans who are great people. I know lots of people who believe nothing who are great people. I know great Jewish people. I even know some great Jahovah's Witnesses.
You can be as good a person as you can, but you will never live up to what God wants you to be to enter heaven. You can't be good enough for God. That is why he sent Jesus to die for you.
So, it doesn't matter who you are, you either trust Jesus as your saviour or you don't. That's all that matters.
Jesus told us to love EVERYONE!!! And as for hating, that, too, is a sin. But don't forget, even Christians sin.

::shrug:: You can believe that if you want to. Far as I'm concerned, you can believe I'm worshipping every evil nasty thing that's ever existed as long as you don't spread lies about what I THINK I'm doing (i.e. "All you Pagans worship the Devil and kill cats") or about what most people who practice my religion do. Of course, you can't expect me, as a non-Christian who doesn't believe "sin" exists outside your head, to agree with you...but then again, your post leads me to believe you're sensible enough to realize that.
