That's good. Many Christians try to make the claim that their religion is absolute truth and all other religions are wrong. That is a rather extraordinary claim considering their complete inability to support that claim.

I'm glad you are different.
No, that is still a claim I make, but its supported by truth just as much as you say your wiccan ones are. :)

You'd be perfectly content to let someone else do the dirty work that you'd like to do, in other words. How noble of you.

Michelle

p.s. People who claim that they are witches, are human. You might want to take that into consideration before you condone murder.

Noooo... I wasn't ripping things out of context...I just bookmarked it for later
to reference back to. Past behaviors predict future behaviors. I know I'll
remind you of your own words given some of your past behaviors.

And not just your behavior with me.

Have a nice day.

Well it's supported by belief, which is hardly a good basis for a claim of absolute truth. Unfortunatly you cannot substantiate the claim so it can therefore be reasonably be regarded as spurious.

I'm not sure about the second half of the statement since I would not be so foolish as to make a claim of absolute truth I couldn't substantiate.

And what, specifically, do we Witches do that would warrant being burned alive?
You needn't worry Havoc. They can't even agree on what constitutes
a witch or witchcraft....just the fact...LET'S BURN ONE...

Kind of like the paranoia that overwhelmed the community of Salem
to committ such atrocities.

The genocide will never happen again.

Aaron11 - Was that a joke?! Can you point out the scripture that tells exactly what Jesus said about killing people being ok? Or condoning it even? I seem to remember when Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was he said Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength and love your neighbor as yourself? Did I miss the part that said "unless they are a witch...then burn them". Where exactly do the lines between "LOVE" and "MURDER" come together? Just curious.

Havoc - Good to see you're still around! I hadn't seen you in forever.

Why to Christians hate Wiccans? Greed, fear, bigotry passed down generation after generation. Most nowadays will just tell you they don't know. Wiccans (and other pagans) were the first doctors, saving lives. Pagans (which includes the Jewish) were condemed by the Christians and murdered by the tens of thousands for their money, land and power. The "church" taking their land, titles and more. The Catholic church has more land than any single entity in the world and more money than Bill Gates. Received through murder. Is that what Jesus said to do? Murder, steal, and bigotry? Don't think so, therefore those that committed the hideous acts and continue the bigotry that was created from it are NOT Christians. These are not acts of Christian "love thy brother" or any other sited in the Bible except those that completely contradict these and other statements. The Bible was written by Man therefore imperfect in and of itself. We all have free will--this means we can think for ourselves. We must pick from the Bible as it is imperfect, those things we wish to live by. There is NO way you can discriminate against a Wiccan, saying they are devil worshiping, evil, baby killing sickos. NONE of these things are in the religion in anyway, so why are we discriminated for them? Does any "Christian" bother to use their free-will to find out the truth before being a bigot. Rarely. If you choose to not extend brotherly love, love thy neighbor, etc.--don't extend it to anyone or you are a hypocrite.

The Bible states as it does as back up for the theft, murder and bigotry. Nothing it says about Pagans (except for Satanists and the like) is NOT true. Wiccans (and most Pagans) are peaceful, loving people. Always have been. We handed down our traditions and many of them are found in Christian ceremonies. Time to wake up world and see that the Bible was a work of fiction written by MAN NOT GOD. It was a useful tool to help a primitive people explain that which defied understanding, such as nature.

Let me also say, that while a Wiccan, I am a non-denominational minister. I spent 10 years in Catholic schools, etc. 11 years visiting every religion I could before I converted and then 10 years later became a minister. 31 years of my life devoted to whatever higher power is out there! I believe that everyone needs to believe in some higher power--and take it seriously. Call "it" Budha, God, Goddess, Allah, whatever. All religions are right in that there is something out there. There is no doubt and belief in "it" makes you a stronger, better person. I don't ever discriminate against any religion except for cults. Because these people have chosen to "believe"--even if they discriminate (Federal Courts accept Wicca as a protected faith) against me.

Blessed Be.

I'm a witch, and I'd love to know what the heck it is that Christians dislike about us.

I did not even bother to read most of the post in responce to your thread for a few reason, but i'll answer you question anyway, some of what i'm about to say no doubt as been said, but for the most part people at a young age get forced into christianity, and don't get to make the choice because their parents shelter them into a box that the learn to adapt to, and in my opinion it is the right box and that is why many of them stay, but in order to stay conforable in there box they have to do the same thing their parents did lash out at anything that attacks there belifes, other Christians that where given a choice what to do with our lives can say "hey i don't agree with you becuase of this reason or that reason" a lot of us understand why things we did before we accpted Christ were wrong under the code that we have accpted to live by, not just becuase it is written in the bible but becuase of real world conquences that we have had to live through or still live with, as a disclarme to my post, yes both my parents are Christians and yes they did not let me run wild, they first tought me how to live as a decent person and accepting of others belifes and differances and then asked if i wanted to be a christain at the age of 16 when i did some reasearch i figured out that is pretty much who i was and wanted to be, and thus accpted Christ, now some of you are thinking that the first part of the post and saying that is me too, your parents just left the whole God thing out of the equation, well i'll tell you are wrong because i was raised a feminst and became a Christian, and did not leave any of that feminst pedagody behind

Liz: So I'm not supposed to be a witch because if I am one, you're going to come and kill me? Great...

A "witch" to most of us who are Pagan or of earth centered religions here is someone who uses a magical system. A Voodoo practitioner who casts spells is a Witch. A Wiccan who lights a candle to bring more love into her life is a Witch. There can, indeed, be Christian "Witches."

What's been missing from these conversations, and still is missing, is what the BIBLE means by "witch." What does the Bible mean when it says "witch"? I've seen a lot of people spouting off about what the word means, but I don't see anything from your holy book to back it up yet. Since you've offered no definition, however, I will cheerfully deny that I'm the "witch" the Bible talks about, so you don't have to come and kill me as it tells you to.

there is no Goddess.
Prove it. :D

Read the Bible? If so, where does it state that there is a Goddess?
The Bible doesn't mention fax machines. According to your "logic" above, they must, therefore, not exist.

I wouldn't kill them myself, but I would understand if someone else burned them alive or hanged them.
This death threat makes me uneasy and even less likely to ever become a member of a heartless faith like yours.

Pist,

If this statement was ment as a joke, it certainly was less than funny. Condoning acts of violence is tentamount to committing them yourself, in my mind. As has been mentioned before, with Christ came a new era of Grace, and therefore much of the harshness of the Law was laid aside...but it remains there, should one choose to walk under it, instead of the Grace God has given us provision for. Just because someone operates outside of that provision, does not mean they are to be killed because of it, or even that we might suggest this. Jesus was given the right to judge, not us. We are only to share God's message with others. During the Old Testament, killing was carried out for a couple of reasons, namely to keep God's chosen people away from Sin, which they had no way of over coming. We have Christ now. Secondly it showed clearly, in a metaphorical sense, what happened if you chose to live outside of God's set Laws...outside of His love, and protection...namely Death.

A statement like the one you made is a great reason why so many find God so hard to come to, since we are to be His ambassadors...

Now, hate is a different thing than most seem to understand it today. It's not an action toward, but a separation from. Things like the afore mentioned 'witch burnings', and the 'KKK', etc have added action to hatred, in a most unpositive way. Hatred is better described as 'anti-'...in this case, haterd for witchcraft, however one decides to define it, would be better described as 'anti-witchcraft'. God tells us not to have anything to do with forces such as these, but to go and 'show' them a better way...

..and in response to our 'minister' friend above, Saucywitch we were warned to expect people like you, who would deny the very Word of God, and turn toward other paths, and what's worse take others with you. God Himself says there is but one path to Him, and many to destruction...:sigh:

(and should I be 'flamed' for this post, so be it...)

And there came a great rumbling from behind James the elder. “Master, this is for thine eyes alone” he said. And Jesus took the missive and said “while not letter quality it is still good.” And there was much rejoicing among the apostles.
