The only reason that an Orthodox Jew would even consider eating pork is if he/she/they went to a dinner and the person cooked pork without knowing they were Jewish. It would be a worse offense to disrespect the person offering the food.

However, since we're discussing Orthodox Jews, and couple that with the fact that Orthodox Jews have a particular attire ===> evange's statement is completely erroneous.
Are Noachides allowed to eat pork since they are not covered under the Mosaic Law given to the Hebrew 12 tribes at Mt Sinai? Thanks.

Who said christians were OC Hebrew/jews?

Here are the 2 covenants so the jews and muslims would fall under Hagar:

gala 4:24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar -- 25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children -- 26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Noachides are not prohibited from eating pork, although many choose not to do so.

Then we must ask why is there a distinction between Gentiles and Jews? Surely God does not have two standards of judgement? or does He? Can you give me the reasons for not eating pork from your understanding of scripture?

I'm sure people can theorize all they want about why we are not to eat pork, among other foods...not sure why pork is the one usually talked about. It simply comes down to the fact that G-d has prohibited it from us. Why would it be hard to believe that G-d made a distinction btwn Gentiles and Jews in terms of what they are supposed to do/prohibited from doing?

Aren't muslims "gentiles" yet they say they are prohibited from eating pork as are the jews, and thus call Christian "gentiles" sinners. Pretty confusing to me.

I have not read all posts. If you read Act 15 can you have some explaination why Christian eat pork.In this chapter the discuss about things from Moses law (other things too) and they get the answer from God

28"For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay no greater burden on you than these requirements: 29 You must abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or eating the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. If you do this, you will do well. Farewell."

Its not confusing to me. I don't concentrate on what Muslims or Christians or Buddhists or Mormons or anyone else believe. I find it interesting and informative, but I'm way too busy learning from my own scriptures and assume that those of other religions are busy learning from their own scriptures to really get that upset about it all.

Yes. I can eat anything I want. I choose not to though.

Muslims choose to do so because of their sacred texts. Why does it matter to you what they think of you?
Their Sacred Texts  You mean the Christian OT/OC and NT/OC Scriptures that they borrow from? They say we are breaking the Law of Moses, and those 2 "Testaments" are our sacred texts also.

Since this has been mentioned previously throughout the thread, I figured I would go ahead and lay it out on the table.

Acts 15 does nothing of the sort IF one decides to look at the Christian testament from a Jewish POV.

Anyways... people can interpret their text how they want to, but if Christians want their text to be based in Jewish theology then it is best to interpret it through Jewish eyes.

No. When I speak of Muslim texts, I am speaking of the Quran and their interpretation of the Tanakh and Christian testament. As I mentioned beforehand, the Muslims believe that the Torah has been tampered with. Therefore, the Jews (and Noachides) are following an impure text. As for their understanding of the Christian testament, I haven't a clue.

You really don't make much sense, LLoJ. And if you don't trust Jewish interpretations, that's fine. But then why are you constantly starting threads, or jumping into threads, directed toward Jews and/or Muslims? You don't take into account anything that's said anyway, and you just continue on your own merry way, repeating the same rhetorical questions and verses over and over. What is the point?

Hi Rut:wave:

I doubt that chokmah was directing that at you in particular. Its just that Acts 15 is what is commonly given in response to questions like the one posed by the OP. Both chokmah and I were christians/messianics previously and so became quite familiar with alternate interpretations of that text.
