Why are most Christians so accepting of magic

It depends on the show/media but it's just part of the show. Where would fairy tales be without a bit of magic? As long as you accept it as fiction and don't try to actually be a witch or anything, what's the harm?

Yes, God will judge us for our acting on our sexual urges or drives outside of marriage. This is clearly what His Word teaches.

There isn't any harm for a person who has enough common sense to know the difference between fact and fiction. I watch shows with doctors and nurses, but watching shows like that won't turn me into a doctor or a nurse. I also watch cartoons, but that doesn't mean I'm going to turn into a cartoon.

But in the Old Testament, God had sorcerers killed. So magic (a power being operated outside of GOD) is sorcery that is condemned by GOD. We live in a culture where magic is fun make believe, but if you lived in OT Times, you would have to kill sorcerers. I imagine the Israelite from the OT times seeing our culture today and he would be shocked of the acceptance of evil by God's people.

Speaking of Doctor Who... my favorite Doctor was David Tennant. He also played Barty Crouch Jr. in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie. I think he's a good actor. Loved him in Good Omens.

I think I need a scriptural reference to see what you're saying.

Women who were caught in adultery were also stoned to death. Thank goodness our modern Western civilized society, particularly here in America, doesn't follow the Old Testament law. If we did, there would be a lot of people, including Christians, who would be stoned to death for committing adultery or for divorcing and remarrying outside the only stipulation for divorce, which is adultery.

And it is nothing new. Shakespeare used three witches in MacBeth and fairies in "A Midsummer Nights Dream," and witches and magic play important roles in the fairy tales collected by the Brothers Grimm.

I'm quite sure that the devil can use whatever he wants, or work through whatever - that's if the people involved are not Christians, belong to the Father and have the Holy Spirit in them. If they are, there's no way they would collude with the devil to try to produce sorcery. Even if they don't believe in God, most tricks are illusions and have an explanation. I've even been to workshops where the performer explains how certain things were done and demonstrates the equipment used.

I agree, most tricks are illusions and planned out or set up with actors who aid them. I also agree that a Christian could not play both fields. If they are Christian they can be possessed however. This has happened. But, I do believe that Christians cannot collude with demonic forces to gain fame and riches.

Maybe that is "blaspheming the Spirit".

But, in the end, many of the tricks that Dynamo, Mike Super, Shin Lin and others, are doing..... are demonic aided supernatural events.

Again, watch the videos... they are detailed, documented and right before your eyes things happen that are not possible withing the confines of our space and time without inter dimensional help.

Yeah I wish he'd somehow had more scenes as Crouch. Not the best movie in the series but he helped make it good.

The problem isn't with people like you and me that watch it for entertainment and are well aware of the reality and dangers of the occult and other arts.

The problem is that it exposes impressionable children to these things... and... being curious, they are drawn to the powers of these things.

Proof of how dangerous the curiosity of children is.... look at the results of the "tea spoon of Cinnamon challenge" or "the Tide pod" challenge.....

In the end, Satan knows that if he can take hold of the youth... he has a very strong handle on this earth.

With all this talk about Satan and the knowledge and fear we should have of him and the control he has.......you would think it was him that had all power and him we should serve.

I dont understand all the fear-mongering.........If we believe in the power of God.......what greater Value is to be gained from believing in the power of the devil?

It is a war for dominion over your soul.

When you spar with someone, you aren't (supposed to be) overwhelmed with fear. However, you would be foolish not to assess your opponent's range, height, weight and musculature, speed, stamina, and (if you are lucky) fighting style and philosophy.

Even though we have a Champion who won the war for us, we still have skirmishes we need to defend ourselves against - because the enemy does not believe the war is over. Pretending the nasty and bad parts of the spirit world doesn't exist doesn't remove them from existence; they will prey on that ignorance and use it for their devices. This is passive participation.

I don't think anyone is advocating being scared of one's shadow, but we have been told the enemy is subtle. These entities aren't going to give us the same witchcraft for which we have historical evidence; I (a human) wouldn't even repeat the same history - in the same way, with the same processes, using the same codes and methods, channeled through the same vectors - that I was trying to perfect in my image. The enemy gives us what we want, and it mingles leaven with the good of the loaf so that we don't realize we are in trouble until we are emotionally, physically and/or psychologically invested in it.

Yes, I have known for many years now that Abraham knew that God was going to resurrect his son (i.e. Hebrews 11:17-19), and thus GOD was not asking Abraham to permanently take the life of his son. I just recently mentioned this fact within this thread before having read your post.

Note: I chose to read and reply to your post last because I was replying to the most recent posts first and working my way backwards. Hence, why I posted Hebrews 11:17-19 without having read your post yet. In short, your not telling me anything that I did not already know. But your failing to realize that GOD was still asking to take the life of his son. Abraham still had to trust by faith that GOD was going to resurrect his son, as well. Abraham was being asked to take the life of his son (Which is like taking out one's eye, or the cutting off one's hand). Of course, I recently mentioned that taking one's eye, or cutting off one's hand should be the ultimate last resort when a believer has exhausted all other possibilities with GOD. Most are not going to want to chop off their hand, and eye (even in such cases). So it pushes a person to want to seek some other way to cut sin out of their lives.

This is what you are arguing against, though.
You don't think that sinful secular movies do not lead people to do sinful things from watching sinful movies. I can testify of having seen others sin as a result of these movies, etc.

A person who has not been born again spiritually and who does not have the root of righteousness within them is going to fall away in such cases. Christians who leave Christianity over minor things like false Televangelists, or false professing believers doing wrong things have not really met the two necessary conditions as a part of being a true Christian. Yes, sin can still destroy a Christian, but Televangelists are not going to make a true believer to depart from the living God. It would be the deceitfulness of sin that will harden their heart that will do that.

Again, a person cannot change the reality of sin in piece of fictional work that they create. A man can write a book and say that the sin of porn does not exist in his universe or world within his book, but that does not change the reality of such a sin; Anymore than a person who writes about the sin of witchcraft and declares it to be okay and acceptable within their universe. You somehow think that just because a movie, or book is fantasy that the sins being depicted within them are not real sins being pushed upon the one who partakes of that form of entertainment. No man can change the reality of sin with fiction or fantasy. Sin is still real within their fictional works, and they have influenced people to do sinful things that these fictional works promoted.

Also, when a person watches a movie, or reads a book that is fictional, they don't say to themselves repeatedly, "This is fake, this is fake, this is fake." etc. If they were to do that they could not enjoy the book or movie. They watch these movies and read these books pretending that they are real on some level because most people get emotional over partaking of these fictional works. They cry, laugh, get sad, etc. It effects them on an emotional level. So they must think it is real on some level while they are watching it so as to enjoy it. They must pretend it is real, and thus when the sins are being pushed upon them when they are enjoying this make believe world that they are pretending is real for a time, they can be influenced to sin in the real world. They will take from these movies the things that are within them. Christians even try to apply the good that are within sinful secular movies. They try to apply these movies to their life. They make them to be these great things to follow, when in reality, they also promote sin upon them. They have to turn a blind eye to these sinful things in order to enjoy it.

I am strongly against OSAS (Once Saved Always Saved) or Belief Alone-ism.
I am a Trinitarian Sola Scriptura Christian who believes that the salvation equation is:
"Faith + Works of Faith = Salvation."

1 John 2:15-17 is a passage you should meditate on and study, and pray to the Lord about. I know that if you were to make it your life mission to know what it says plainly and to believe it, you will come to the conclusion of putting away secular sinful movies, books, etc. out of your life and encourage others to do so, as well.

Matthew 5:28-30. It deals with adultery in the heart. Adultery is unfaithfulness in marriage. So Jesus is warning those who are married not to look upon other women so as to lust after them with their eyes and their hands. If they do, (and they do not confess of such a sin and forsake it), their whole body will be cast into hell fire.

But....The Earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof.....If I make a bed in hell..God it there.......Nothing shall separate me from the Love.......

I guess I desire to hear more: Fear the Lord....All Power belongs to Him....I will fear no evil for Thou art with me...
