  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For the first one, rape. God knows every child while it is in it's mothers womb. He put it there, He created it. Yes it came froma bad way, but God allowed it and He wouldn't allow something if it was going to mean killing a baby.
your second one I don't fully understand why you'd ask. If both mother and baby die not from abortion, but from natural causes, then it isn't murder. I don't know where your going with that one.

As I said before, God knows us while we are in our mothers womb. That is the answer for the third question.
Atheists/Agnostics/ and other religions don't have to abide by Christianity and the christian god. If you give a "Goddidit" answer, you are just making an assertion and trying to push Christianity on everyone else.

^that's exacltly why it's pointless to try and discuss things like abortion in the open section of Christian forums, the arguments you're referring to don't help to persuade athiests and such. It would be like a Muslim trying to tell me something and prove it with the Koran..when discussing these things with non-believers I think science should come into play. besides you can please everyone, if the Christians are pleased then the athiests aren't and if the athiests are pleased then the Christians aren't...

Have you ever done the math on this?

Hitler killed 6,000,000 people during the holocaust. That is over the 7 year period of the holocaust. That is 857,142 people a year. (about)

America has killed 43,000,000 babies over the 40 years that abortion has been legal. That is more people than the poulation of Canada. That is 1,075,000 babies per year.

Hitlers time is over, America is still going. Whose the real killer?
Hitler, he murdered people, you have to define what a person is before you can call abortion murder and you have to make it illegal since that is murder: the illegal killing of a person by another person

a person to me is an idividual that doesn't require someone elses body to live

hitler murdered people, seperate entities that had thoughts and feelings
potental people are not quite the same, i don't really consider killing something that sucks the health out of someone else to be a person

by the way the number of people killed by hitlter is more like 12 million, 6 million jews and 5-6 million gays, disabled, pows, gypties and other unwanted people

So with your mindset killing a 7 month old baby is ok. It can't take care of itself, so it isn't a person.

That is a messed up belief.

My thought for them is this.

According to them it is murder to kill the baby 1 minute after it's birth, but it is not when it is 1 minute before birth. Pro-Choice people need to figure out when it is murder and when it is not. Either way it's a baby whether in the womb or not.

False. I personally believe that third trimester abortions (which are actually rather uncommon, anyway) are immoral and should be illegal in non-medical cases.

I don't know if a few developing cells counts as a human. There are probably as many cells in a scab on your arm as there are when abortion happens.

So don't pick that scab! Don't kill cells!

Actually, Planned Parenthood here in NYC prefers to do abortions at 10 to 12 weeks. A woman I talked to there said that was when it was easiest. A fetus at 10 to 12 weeks gestation is considerably more than "a few developing cells."

Back the train up!!!

Women don't go out and get late term abortions just for kicks. A late term abortion is a serious medical procedure and a lot of clinics won't do them unless the mother would die if they didn't, or the fetus is seriously screwed up (deformity, genetic problems, etc) and wouldn't live anyway.

By and large, women who are seven months pregnant don't get abortions unless they have no choice, because women who are seven months pregnant are women who WANT to be pregnant.

I think he meant a 7 month old baby that was already born. I guess the point he was trying to make was a baby 7 months old is just as dependent on their mothers after birth as they were before.

But they really aren't. ANYONE can care for a 7 month old baby, not just the mother.

Okay.
Actually, no, a 7 month old baby is not as dependent on the mother after birth as they were before birth. Before the baby is born, the mother is the only thing keeping the baby alive. She's the only one who can physically care for it. After the baby is born, anyone can take care of it- the mother, the father, a grandparent, a friend, a foster parent, or a bum on the street.

I understand that, because when my daughter has worn me out my inlaws take care of her:) point is, it is still dependent, and is for years...and to me she's still just as much a part of me as she was before....wait, what was the starting statement again?

*emphasis mine

my daughter may not have to live inside my body to live, but she still needs someone to take care of her, and do everything for her to live. so to me that's no different.

no, to me it is NOT different, it is to you, it isn't to me..what's so hard to understand about that?

It's not hard to understand. To you it's different. That's great. It really has nothing to do with abortion though.

Every time you see a woman/man you could have sex with but don't, you are potentially denying life to a baby. What is the difference between abortion and not having sex at any given time?

Why are pro life-ers denying so many births by not having sex at the moments chance:cry:
