  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have you ever done the math on this?

Hitler killed 6,000,000 people during the holocaust. That is over the 7 year period of the holocaust. That is 857,142 people a year. (about)

America has killed 43,000,000 babies over the 40 years that abortion has been legal. That is more people than the poulation of Canada. That is 1,075,000 babies per year.

Hitlers time is over, America is still going. Whose the real killer?

My thought for them is this.

According to them it is murder to kill the baby 1 minute after it's birth, but it is not when it is 1 minute before birth. Pro-Choice people need to figure out when it is murder and when it is not. Either way it's a baby whether in the womb or not.

This is a great point~
I am so against abortion.(.I beleive that life of a person starts the moment a baby is conceived)
.it is murder of a life....that God planned out, in the bible it says God creates you and knows you even when you are in the womb and way before that....
I couldnt beleive those numbers...those are amzing #'s ..its very very very SAD

The only people for abortion...................are already alive!

Yeah. I know.

We were talking about that in the hall today, and this girl said "Well I think people should have a choice, it's their choice if they want an abortion."

And I said "Yeah they should have a choice. Because me, I'm Pro-Choice, and Pro-Life." You can have a choice, but I say choose life.

this is an issue that isn't quite as black and white as Gastank seems to believe.
first, what about rape? secondly, what if the situation is without an abortion the mother and baby die, as opposed to just the baby? thirdly, when does life truly begin?

two questions, where did you get your information?(not saying it's wrong, just curious) and is America the only country with legalized abortion?

for the record, i consider myself a republican Christian and believe in most cases abortion is wrong. my opinion is it should be legal but there should be rules on when it should be allowed. sort of, controlled pro-choice.

For the first one, rape. God knows every child while it is in it's mothers womb. He put it there, He created it. Yes it came froma bad way, but God allowed it and He wouldn't allow something if it was going to mean killing a baby.
your second one I don't fully understand why you'd ask. If both mother and baby die not from abortion, but from natural causes, then it isn't murder. I don't know where your going with that one.

As I said before, God knows us while we are in our mothers womb. That is the answer for the third question.

Yes I say this with all politeness, it is black and white for me. Abortion is murder in everyway!

I got my holocaust info froma jewish list of how many died. I can't remember the site, but I did go to a few different sites and they all said the same.

For the abortion amount, I saw it on a t-shirt, and then a site online.

You are all missing one point. If you don't abort, and you can't care for the baby where does it go?Most go orphages,or foster homes.Alot, of orphages aren't in the best shape, and not all foster homes are as wonderful as you think. That is not to say all foster parents are evil or something like that, but abortion is not the only problem.A woman from church has adopted twice ,and fostered ,and she has hardtime adopting one child, you have to go to child court or something like that ,and judge has to LET you adopt the child.I don't remember much more than that ,but the lady gave a talk a year ago ,for any body wh owas intreated ,and I went.Trust me,i am Pro -life ,but sometimes you have to think about that suffering your child will go through if they are born.JUst fruit for thought.

Yes but in 18 years they are out of the system and are able to live life the way they want it. I think your agrument brings up another point about people trying to put a value on life. Maybe children's lives in foster care is horrible but who are we to say that its better to abort a child then to give them that life. Were not God, and its not our place to say what life is worth being born into and which isnt. As christians shouldnt we have faith that no matter the amount of suffering we go though if we put our faith in the Lord, he'll see us thru. So wouldn't our time be better spent not trying to convince others how lucky these children are to have not been born into a life of suffering, but instead trying to convince others that the Lord will always be behind them if they chose to believe.

As for the rape issue, again i say instead of advocating to people "the woman is in pain, she didnt want the child." as christians we should be witnessing that God is there to help the woman though that pain, and he never gives us more than we can handle.

I'm not saying all people are like this. But many who say "I won't be able to care for the baby". Why is that? Well they can't, if they want their life how they want it. At a time like that, either the girls mother or another person from the Church should step in and help. Or the girl should just trust the Lord that He'll be there, seeing He gives us nothing we can't handle.

There are so many ways to keep the baby alive, it's not like abortion is the only option.

if without an abortion the baby and mother die, but with an abortion only the baby dies, would that not be ok? was what i was getting at.

and i don't think you ever answered if America is the only country that has legalized abortion, if not then why are you singling out the US?(other then the obvious fact that you live there)

Yes but in 18 years they are out of the system and are able to live life the way they want it.
by then the damage is done. not having one parent raises the chances of a person having serious problems, not having two is even worse, i can imagine.

and some scripture from the people who oppose abortion all-together would be nice.

So are you saying a person can be so hurt and damaged that they are beyond the healing the love of God can bring you. The point of my post was to state that as Christians we should reject the reasoning that the amount of suffering the child will go though is a valid reason to abort a child. I think our time would be better spent advocating the power of God's love and how much healing power he has if we let him. Just because these kids will be in horrible foster care cnditions doesnt mean they are outside the reach of God.
