  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thunderstorms are awesome, the bigger and badder, the better, at least for me (within reason of course). That might be part of the reason I moved to Florida. We'll get storms almost every day here during a good wet season. That's not including the occasional tropical low pressure system of varying strength and intensity that decides to come ashore here every once in a while.

When I was a youngster to early adulthood I was an atheist, strangely enough I loved thunderstorms then, now I'm terrified or more accurately respect them . I was obsessed with weather I wanted to be a meteorologist for years for their sake. In college I took classes in the subject. Then God revealed his existence to me and I became terrified. I thought he hated me for a while so I feared storms. I now have more of a respect than ever for his awesome power and know that they probably will not hurt me, but do I know for sure no. I am strangely more fearful that they are not random now that I KNOW he exists and has control. God is terrifying in his power.

It is true that He can be defined as fierce in many ways....His power is indescribable...yet this fearsome God loves us and rejoices over us with singing.....

thunderstorms remind me Who created them in the first place and Who ultimately has power
