  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We have at least 4 T-storms per week in the summer. They always blow from west to east. I like to watch the clouds build in the early afternoon like mashed potatoes in the mountains and blow in towards us. I do respect lightning (a few close calls) but it's fun to watch. We get a lot of hail which I don't like because it's so destructive. Every storm that blows through reminds me of God's power and the rainbow in the eastern sky afterwords remind me of His promise.

I don't exactly love them. I used to be scared of them. Now, I am more like my dad. I'll go outside and watch the storm from the porch with him. It's neat being one of the only ones outside, cause everyone else is scared. It makes me feel special and unafraid. At the same time though, you see the power of the storm and the power of God.

I can remember many summer nights sitting on the front porch of our home watching the lightning travel down the river and feeling the chair shake with the rumbles of thunder. My mom would have to call me in.
Only 2 types of thunderstorms scare me--those with lots of wind and thunder snows!

I love storms! In fact, its storming right now... well, more or less just raining. When the hurricanes came last year (i live in florida) I would go out on the porch with my mom and we watched the lightning and looked for tornadoes. I love feeling safe and dry inside my house while a storm rages outside. It reminds me of how God is always watchin over me and keeping me safe :).
