I LOVE a good thunderstorm, however, here in western Washington, we don't get very many. Back in July we were given a wonderful light show for almost a full 24 hours. It was incredible, hearing the rumbling all day and night. I tried to get some pictures, but luck just wasn't on my side. Perhaps next time! :)

Most thunderstorms around here happen in spring and summer.
I especially love to watch the lightening along with the spectacular cloud formations.

On the downside : many forest fires are started by lightening, and since there is now severe drought on top of the naturally arid climate here, 2011 was the scariest ever year for forest fires. There were two within two miles from where I live!

In early winter we get some really unusual thunderstorms sometimes.
Those come simultaneously with snow, sleet and rain.
The lightening in these winter thunderstorms is blue - a fascinating sight!

I do. I love the feeling of what it feels like to stand outside right before a storm hits. It's one amazing, spiritual experience for me all together!
I know the feeling. The ozone in the air, the electricity that seems to kiss the skin. It's great!

I love thunderstorms where I can open the sliding glass doors to the deck and have the scent and sound of the storm fill the air. (Not the rain fill my hardwoods. )
Especially in autumn or winter when the fireplace is going and I'm cuddled up with a great book on Kindle and a hot pitcher of herbal tea for refills.

Wonderful. Especially on moonless nights. It's like a fireworks tease before July4th.
