There is a teaching that those taken in the rapture are taken to heaven, what does the Bible teach on this idea of taken as opposed to left behind.
For the Jews "taken away" meant they would be carried out of the promised land as a form of judgment, such as when Babylon and Assyria carried them away as captives.
Matt 24
Jesus Speaking
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Genesis 19
15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.
30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
So only Lot and his daughters (as was Noah in the flood) were left behind when all the Cities of the plains were destroyed, the rest of the living were taken away. (died)
Luke 17:34-36King James Version (KJV)
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
In these verses one is taken and one is left. If we follow the words of Jesus in Matt 24 and the example of Noah and Lot being left behind we come to the conclusion of those taken are the unrighteous and have been judged unfit for Heaven and those left behind are the righteous.
So are you sure you want to be Taken in the rapture?
