Some Christians assert or claim that they are gentiles. I have no idea how they come to that conclusion. The people of the nation of Israel mixed with other nations and they are spread across the world. I wonder how some people are able to trace their ancestry all the way back to the period of Genesis where all nations first started. Because I think there is no way someone can say they are gentile unless they know for sure that none of their whole ancestors ever belonged to the line of Jacob (Israel).
From the beginning all were Gentiles as there were no Jews until Abraham. The first covenant was between God and Abraham through circumcision. The last covenant was "The New Covenant" between Jesus Christ of Nazareth and the world. There is no Jew or Gentile. There is now The Body of Christ or anti-Christs.
Blessings

Did't Paul say there was neither Jew nor Gentile. Anyway is it not that there is no divisions in the Kingdom of God that is among us. So in negotiations between individuals, families, countries etc. we should consider everyone and decisions should be to ever-ones advantage. We all have to act as anointed ones of God. We are God's children. everyone of us human beings on earth. True scripture is written in the soul of man fed by the Spirit of God, that walks freely among us and blesses like the wind, the rain, snow and all of nature including mankind that we should nurture in thanks WE ARE ALL JEWS NOW GOD'S PEOPLE.
in love

Being in Christ makes you no more to be in family with Abraham than its making to be in family with German Christians or Swiss Christians and you can call all this "Israel".

Yes, so can we please just stick to that we are all Israel, and not say gentiles or anything else?

The term Gentile is a yiddish or slang term from the Hebrew language that is referring to someone who is a Non Jew.

Yes, thanks for sharing. However I don’t understand how someone can say they are gentile when they don’t know their complete ancestry.

Ok. So if my parents and grandparents and great grandparents were all Jew and practicing Jewish culture and then I’m not practicing it. Does it make me a gentile since I’m not practicing their culture?
Being Jewish does not just always mean being apart of the religion of Judaism. Being a Jew can also be more about cultural identity and being apart of an ethnic group. When I was in the military and attended a Jewish service I met an interesting man who was a Jew by identity because he was born into a Jewish family but did not practice the religion of Judaism. So to answer your question yes, you would still be a Jew if you were born into a Jewish family but didn't practice judaism itself.

I see what you're saying. I agree with you and would even go so far to say that the term Gentile is so completely antiquated that it no longer has any meaning in today's society except for historical purposes

In the Old Testament there were quite stringent proofs necessary to be able to say that one was of Israel; some others followed the children of Israel, but were unable to prove who they were.

So if those proofs don't exist in one way or another now, then it's not unreasonable for people to say they believe they themselves are from a Gentile background.

But the point of the Gospel is that it is both to the Jew and the Gentile; and in the church the barrier has been broken down, as Paul says, in any case.

So what Scripture do you have for this?

1 Corinthians 10.32 indicates there are three groups of people: Jews, Gentiles and the church of God.

At this point you probably could just break it down further and say there are only two groups of people. The Lost and the People of God

It is true. All groups that make God’s Israel and let’s talk in that mind set of unity in Christ, not in the mind set of belonging to one group.

Jesus called the Jews the children of the devil
so how much worse can a Gentile be?

Physically: Many of us especially for those living in East Asia, the Americas (particularly for the native population) and some very remote areas do not have a single drop of Jewish blood. Or at least untraceable in the last 2000 something years in the family history, physically most of us here are, extremely likely being Gentiles.

In reality (or at least so far I've observed) we, as people highly unlikely related to Jews, use this term saying we're blessed being included and united under grace in the Post-NT era.

One is either a Jew or a Gentile. One cannot rightly call themselves Jewish if neither of their birth parents were Jewish, or unless they had converted to Judaism. In the New Testament, there were many Gentiles who heard and believed the Gospel, and it deals with what their obligations are very specifically.

Galatians 3:28: "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Anyone who doesn't understand this doesn't understand a fundamental truth of Christianity: Christians are children of God, with no distinctions, period.

Beyond saying it's the witness of Scripture, I'm not going to get into any argument with you.
Not trying to argue. Learning from each encounter with each person as long as the explanation isn’t “this is whet everyone else says”... but if your unwilling to bring some clarity for me I thank you anyway.
