• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Wow. Using which standard deviation/scale...?

Dunno. It wasn't an official IQ test, but it wasn't an internet IQ test either. It was some government-endorsed pamphlet, and I ended up with an IQ of 163.

Also, my mom and dad took it and got IQ's similar to the IQ they got on the official test they took in school (150-ish. Nerd family FTW).

Even if the test I took was inaccurate, my IQ is still probably 140+ at the least.

The only reason I asked is because different tests have different IQ scales. If that were similar to Cattell (sp?), it would be Mensa-level. If it was the same scale as Wechsler (sp?), it would be even more towering.

I have it. Very high functioning however. Many people don't even know. Sometimes they do. I struggle with people thinking I am dumb or mentally ill because I am very quiet. I fear rejection and stuff. I am unique, I will say that. It can be hard to walk outside every morning feeling like you have to prove to the world you're not stupid or mentally ill. At least I feel that way. Maybe not everybody feels this way, or experiences that like I have.

Welcome to Christian Forums.

You say unique. I say that I am an "acquired taste." I often make a first impression of being mentally slow, but sooner or later I will say something that blows them away. Some people are entertained by that, while others feel threatened... I guess you can't win them all.

I have high functioning autism. That means I'm autistic, but I'm also really smart.

It's a myth that low-functioning autistic people are not smart. A low-functioning girl in Canada who is non-verbal is now graduating from high school with honours and preparing for university. They just need help finding their inner voice. Just thought I'd point that out.

Anyway, I was diagnosed with classic autism, but I am verbal as an adult.

That's okay, Dayhiker... and sure, I"ll keep you posted. I plan to be around here a lot. The only thing I can tell you about the evaluation now is that the secretary on the phone who called me said that I needed to arrive at 9:00 and that I wouldn't be leaving until about 3:30 so it should be an interesting day.
