And (further) their Prophet (Saul) said to them: "A Sign of his (David's)authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the Covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Musa and the family of Harun, carried by angels. In this is a Symbol for you if ye indeed have faith." 2:248

Verily we sent down the Torah, in it was guidance and light therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the Prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah's Will, by the Rabbis and the Doctors of Law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah's Book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear not men, but fear Me, and sell not My Signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers.

We wrote for them in it: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if anyone remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) wrong-doers. 5:44-45

I thought that this might perhaps lead to a constructive discussion for both Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

We all have one thing in common. We all believe that Moses received the Torah which was written by G-d on a Tablet(s). These Tablets were placed in a "Taboot" ie box, or case, better known as the Ark of the Covenant.

What sparked us to make this thread is that days ago I was watching the History channel. They were trying to locate where the Ark disappeared to before the Babylonian seige of Jerusalem and the distruction of the temple.

I have studied this subject for some time long time ago. My conclusion came down to an aprocrypha (I think) book I read, which I cannot recall, that stated the Ark was ordered by G-d to be moved from Jerusalem before the Babylonians invasion which was taken back to the original site where it was given to Moses and hidden in a cave. This task was done secretly by one of the Prophets.

I have heard and studied other views, but this one to me sounded more realistic.

Need some feed back.

Ever heard of the copper scroll?

the real "indiana jones" gets sanhedrin approval

Dr. Vendyl Jones, the inspiration for the “Indiana Jones” series, told Israel National Radio that he is sure he will uncover the hidden Ark of the Covenant before the Fast of Tisha B’Av this summer.

The explorer and teacher, who published a book in 1959 predicting the Six Day War based on his analysis of the Jewish Exodus from Egypt up until the First Temple Period, says that employing the same biblical analysis to modern times points to major events that will “turn the world right side up” this coming June.

Dr. Jones left his post as a Christian pastor to become a leader of the growing Noahide movement. Noahides are non-Jews who observe the seven laws of Noah, which are obligatory upon all of humanity.

The famed archaeologist has spent most of his life searching for the Ark of the Covenant, which housed the Ten Commandments, and was hidden just before the destruction of the First Temple – where the Ark, it resided in the most set apart place of the Temple..

Although at the time of the film, Jones was far from pinpointing the location of the Ark, he has come a long way since then. With the help of an ancient document known as the “Copper Scroll,” - found in Qumran together with the Dead Sea Scrolls - Dr. Jones has pinpointed the location of the Ark of the Covenant.

“In the copper scroll, the first five lines say, “In the desolations of the Valley of Achur, in the opening under the ascent, which is a mountain facing eastward, covered by forty placed boulders – here is a tabernacle and all the golden fixtures.”

This is what we have been looking for all these years and I’ve walked over those boulders thousands of times without really stepping back and looking – realizing ‘hey, those boulders have been brought in here, they’ve been placed in here, they didn’t come off a mountain. And they’re huge.’”

The Talmud says the Ark is hidden in a secret passage under the Temple Mount. Jones says that in fact, the Ark was brought through a secret passage beneath the mount – but that that same natural tunnel continues 18 miles into the Judean Desert to the Valley of Achur.

According to Jones, The Sharon government will soon be history and the Sanhedrin (the Jewish High Court of 71 judges) will take its place and lead the Jewish people. “The Sanhedrin was established October the 13th of last year. Now all we have to do is have an election to elect counselors. The Sanhedrin is like a Senate and the elected counselors are like a House of Representatives.”

Dr. Jones says the discovery of the lost ark will “flip the whole world right side up.”

“I just gotta drill a bore-hole into the chamber, drop a pin-camera in and there it is. And everything is gonna change, believe me. The Jewish people are gonna come back.”

This was posted in the Messionic Forums.

My opinion it's near or around the temple mount.

The reference you mentioned is found in
2 Maccabees 1:1-2:8

"It is also found in the records that the prophet Jeremiah ordered those who were carried away to take some of the fire; as it has been described, and that after giving them the Law, the prophet charged those who were carried away not to forget the L-rs's commands, and not to be led astray in their minds when they saw gold and silver idols and theor ornamentation. And with other similar exhortations he told them that the Law should not pass from their hearts. It was also in the writing that the prophet, in obedience to a revelation, gave orders that the tent and the ark should accompany him, and that he went away to the mountain where Moses went up and beheld G-d's inheritance. And Jeremiah came and found a cave dwelling, and he took the tent and ark and the incense alter into it, and he blocked up the door. And some of those who followed him came up to mark the road, and they could not find it. But when Jeremiah found it out, he blamed them and said,
"The place shall be unknown until G-d gathers the congregation of his people together and shows his mercy. Then the L-rd will show where they are, and the glory will appear, as they were shown in the days of Moses, and when Solomon asked that the place might be made sacred.".......

My answer: who cares where the Ark of the Covenant is? The church is the Temple of God, and Christ is its high priest. The Ark is obsolete. But if you're interested, you guys can dissect the word of God through Saint John:

"Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail." (Revelation 11:19)

The rumor around that it is in Ethiopia. This is what is usually promoted veiw. On the History channel when thye got to the end of the line the Priests would not allow anyone to see it in order to authenticate it.

The tradition on how it got to Ethiopia is a bit far fetched if you ask me. It expressed that have Soloman married the Queen of Sheba, a duplicate ark was made whereas the real one was taken back with the Queen of Sheba or with their son.

Thus would allude that the Children of Israel after Solomon had a fake Ark up to the Babylonian era. Ugh ! ?

LOL! Reminds me of the final scene in the first Indiana Jones movie. Crated up in an anonymous box and locked away with a whole bunch of other anonymous boxes in a government warehouse.

It's probably right next to the Stargate :D

Anyone who says the Torah is obcelete is unlearned in the scriptures.

Tell that to the author of Hebrews, who wrote, "In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away." (Hebrews 8:13, English Standard Version).

While I do happen to think that the Torah is obsolete, that isn't what I said. I only said that God has made the Ark of the Covenant obsolete, because it has been replaced by the Temple of Christ's body.

Ahh, a kindred spirit! I'm glad you agree, it would be idolatrous of us to put our faith in any object instead of in Christ Jesus. It's certainly of archeological and historical value to find the Ark of the Covenant, and I admit that it would be interesting. But it contains no magical powers, and it doesn't deserve the faith that we should place only in God and Christ.

I agree wholeheartedly...

Sorry but I don't agree, at least not with you though I am amazed that you have not stirred up and driven this thread to where you want it to head to... Maybe you are awaiting the right moment as usual.

To understand the New covenant, we must first understand its foundation.
According to a prophesy concerning the new covenant:

Behold, the days come, saith YHVH, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith YHVH:

33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith YHVH, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jeremiah 31:31-33

"In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away."

This new covenant is one of the heart and also for the "Remission of Sins" by faith.

If the old testament is obcelete, tell that to the speaker of Matthew 5:17

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

or

I John 2: . [3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. [4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. [5] But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. [6] He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
He walked in the law

Ro 2:[12] For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; [13] (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. [14] For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: [15] Which show the work of the law written in their hearts,

Corresponds with the jeremiah verse

Do we then make void the Law through faith? By no means: but we establish the Law, Romans 3:31.
Gotta love when Paul himself says stuff like this, huh?

I can list more, but this is enough for one post.
