And (further) their Prophet (Saul) said to them: "A Sign of his (David's)authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the Covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Musa and the family of Harun, carried by angels. In this is a Symbol for you if ye indeed have faith." 2:248
Verily we sent down the Torah, in it was guidance and light therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the Prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah's Will, by the Rabbis and the Doctors of Law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah's Book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear not men, but fear Me, and sell not My Signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers.
We wrote for them in it: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if anyone remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) wrong-doers. 5:44-45
I thought that this might perhaps lead to a constructive discussion for both Jews, Christians, and Muslims.
We all have one thing in common. We all believe that Moses received the Torah which was written by G-d on a Tablet(s). These Tablets were placed in a "Taboot" ie box, or case, better known as the Ark of the Covenant.
What sparked us to make this thread is that days ago I was watching the History channel. They were trying to locate where the Ark disappeared to before the Babylonian seige of Jerusalem and the distruction of the temple.
I have studied this subject for some time long time ago. My conclusion came down to an aprocrypha (I think) book I read, which I cannot recall, that stated the Ark was ordered by G-d to be moved from Jerusalem before the Babylonians invasion which was taken back to the original site where it was given to Moses and hidden in a cave. This task was done secretly by one of the Prophets.
I have heard and studied other views, but this one to me sounded more realistic.
Need some feed back.
