A man claiming to be God does not cause desolation.
Common sense.
It is written.A man does not place the abomination that causes desolation.Scripture plainly states a military does this .

Daniel 11:31 His forces will rise up and desecrate the temple fortress. They will abolish the daily sacrifice and set up the abomination of desolation.

His armed forces places the abominaction that causes desolation.

Anyone in the military can tell you what they would use to cause desolation and its not claiming to be God.That would only get you sent to the funny farm where everyone else is that claims to be God.
Sorry, but you are talking history while we are talking future. When a Gentile man enters the temple, the temple will be defiled and the daily sacrifices must be stopped. That is an abomination. But if there is war after, so the temple cannot be cleansed (as happened with Antiochus) then it is desolation. That is what is coming.

I don't think that the 1260 days are meant to match either the 3 1/2 years or the 42 months. Time is a funny thing in prophecy. IMHO, the timestamp is not the thing to be followed, but the thing that says you are there. I think the same thing about the Name, Mark, and Number... the number being the verification, rather than the object of the search.

And the fact is that God has hidden them for their protection, on that dark day when they too were lost. The Lost Sheep of the House of Israel and the Lost Sheep of the House of Judah/Benjamin, are blended with the gentiles, so that nobody knows who they are... which is the reason that the beast has to mark his own followers, so that he can find the ones he came here to destroy. He will spend 5 months making these marks, IMHO.
That is a strange thing to say, since 42 months of 30 days each makes 1260 days.

The Temple is, as Jesus would say post Pentecost context, is the temple that is not in Jerusalem, but a spiritual Temple that requires worship in the spirit.

A physical temple cannot be desecrated with an abomination as Jesus would say, because true worship is not present.

The Daily Sacrifice owing to the Living Stones (Romans 12:1, 1 Peter2:5) is replaced by the Abomination of Desolation.

In conclusion, the Abomination must be a false form of worship instituted by the false christs (religious leaders of the institutions) and the false prophets (priests and ministers) as Jesus would say in the latter days. The Abomination has to present an idol of worship as a circumvention to worshipping God directly. The examples can be if one believes that they need to offer their prayer through Mary or the Saints to be heard and to be saved and that by circumvented means is worship projected. The idols in this regard are spiritual and worship is spiritual and as a result the desecrated Temple is also spiritual.

It is a falling away instituted by religious leaders that abandons the true sacrifice for 1335 years. What year it ended is the protestant reformation in 1648AD. Count back 45 years to 1603 beginning of reformation. 1603AD was the end of the "Later Reformation" by the puritan's. So 1603AD was the 1290 year marker. Count back to 313AD, the veneration of Mary as Queen of Heaven.

Good summary friends.

Matt and Mar both mention both Daniel and the AoD in all the NT which I find rather perplexing seeing as how this has perplexed many Christian theologians over the centuries.
However, by looking at the divine Greek, I was able to see that the exact form of "reading<314>" used in the 2 Gospel chapters is used in only 1 other verse in the NT:

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV)
G314 ἀναγινώσκω ἀναγινώσκων — 3x

Matthew 24:15
"Whenever then ye may be seeing the abomination of the desolation, the being declared thru Daniel the Prophet having-stood in a place, holy (the one-reading/anaginwskwn <314> (5723) let him be understanding"
[Mark 13:14]

Revelation 1:3
Happy/blessed the one reading/ana-ginwskwn <314> (5723) and the ones hearing the words of the prophecy and keepings the in it having been written for the time nigh.

Luke doesn't mention the AoD but rather the Jerusalem encompassed by armies....
However, the same exact form of the word "written<1125>" is shown in only 1 verse of Revelation, Revelation 1:3....fascinating.......

Luke 21:
20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.
22 That days of vengeance/out-justing these are, of the to be filled all the having been written/gegrammena <1125> (5772).

Revelation 1:3
Blessed the one reading/anaginwskwn <314> (5723), and the ones hearing, the Words of the Prophecy, and keepings in it/her having been written/gegrammena <1125> (5772), for the Time Is-Near/egguV <1451>.

Luke 21:
20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.
24“And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations.
And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Revelation 11:2
and the Court/aulhn <833> the without of the Sanctuary, be Casting-Out! out-side, and thou mayest not be measuring it,
that it was given to the nations.
And the holy city they shall be trampling forty and two months

.
very good post however Rev 18 Babylon the city that is desolated does not seem to be Jerusalem in my opinion. Seems that this desolation is for another rather than Jerursalem

This is a theory that comes from trying to force Christianity into verses pointed straight at the Jews and at Israel while they deny the Christ.

Blindness in part is STILL upon Israel and will be until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. Yes, some have accepted their Messiah, but most have not. Their worship is still as it was under the Old Covenant (if indeed any of them do worship).

Thy WILL build a new temple. It is the "brick and mortar" temple John spoke of in Rev. 11. This temple will be cleansed as written in the Old Testament, requiring a red heifer without spot or blemish. A High Priest will be chosen, and the daily sacrifices will once again be started. They will be ecstatic. When John comes to measure it, as written in Rev. 11, there WILL BE worshipers inside, worshiping God.

But as Paul said, one day the man of sin will enter that temple, and it will be instantly polluted. The daily sacrifices will cease, until the temple can be cleaned again. This is what Daniel and John have told us.

You have the wrong temple.

There is no literal Israel. That historical Israel was destroyed with its literal temple.

The Daily Sacrifice offering to God has no literal application.

The Worship has no literal application according to the letter of the Mosaic Law.

I can come up with a name for any ideological geopolitical entity and call it french fries, but it does notmake it french fries.

It disheartens me to see people fall head over heels for an ideological establishment and to completely forget that Israel is Jesus, Jerusalem is the Church and the Temple is the Holy Spirit

A none trinitarian belief would be to deny the spiritual Temple of God as the only platform to offer up sacrifices onto God.

Pointing to genealogies within the question of offering onto God the Daily Sacrifice is a laughable proposition indeed!

King Herod totally tore down the second temple to rebuild his own third temple, the one that Jesus said would be destroyed. Herod's third temple took many decades to complete and only stood completed seven years before it was destroyed in 70AD.
Jesus Christ is God's Temple made without hands... there will never be another.

This video also says the Temple was a short distance from the present Gold Dome.........

Just hold your horses! Within just a few years you will see with your own eyes how mistaken you are.

Even though they could not worship "in spirit" as those who are born again can today, they still worshiped God under the Old. And even under the old, the temple was so filled with the glory of God no one could enter. They did worship in truth. And God certainly received their worship.

Just so you know, there IS a literal Israel on the maps. Perhaps you should visit some day. And whether or not you believe it, there are people in Israel today that worshiped God in the only way they knew how. It is probably good that no one that thinks as you do are God; else those who worship God in Israel would have zero chance. God will give them a chance, and some of them will take it, and will enter into the Millennial Kingdom.

If all the trumpet judgments and vial judgments are history, then show us when and where. For example, when in history did some kind of strange horsemen kill 1/3 of all humanity in a short period of time?

Please ref. to "Horae Apocalipticae" - Elliot for details.
But in the below series of videos you can have a good idea:
Spurgeon is on record saying that Horae is the standard work for Bible prophecy interpretation.
Unfortunately, the Futurism that the Jesuits invented in 1590 to destroy the Protestant witnessing started to be heavily adopted by protestant Churches in early 20 century so most of the protestants today are like catholics, lost in the popery lie, when it comes to Bible prophecy

Revelation concerns a great City[Jerusalem] and Country[Israel,Judea] not the world.

Jerusalem and the Temple was the center of the world for the Jewish nation.

There is no estimate I could find concerning the number of Jews living in and around Israel and Jerusalem/Judea in the 1st century leading up to the 70ad destruction of Jerusalem [then the last Jewish stronghold of Masada in 73ad.]

Josephus estimates around a million Jews perished in 70ad and that was mainly because Jews from all over came to celebrate Passover:

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover ; and it is deserving of the very particular attention of the reader, that this was the anniversary of that memorable period in which the Jews crucified their Messiah ! At this season multitudes came up from all the surrounding country, and from distant parts, to keep the festival. How suitable and how kind, then, was the prophetic admonition of our LORD, and how clearly he into futurity when he said "Let not them that are in the countries enter into Jerusalem." Luke xxi. 21.

Nevertheless, the city was at this time crowded with Jewish strangers, and foreigners from all parts, so that the whole nation may be considered as having been shut up in one prison, preparatory to the execution of the Divine vengeance ; and, according to Josephus this event took place suddenly ; thus, not only fulfilling the predictions of our LORD, that these calamities should come, like the swift-darting lightning" that cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the West," and " as a snare on all of them (the Jews) who dwelt upon the face of the whole earth " (Matt. xxiv. 27, and Luke xxi 35,) but justifying, also, his friendly direction, that those who fled from the place should use the utmost possible expedition.
=================================
His estimate of the number of Jews slaughtered thru sword, famine and fire:
==================================
Of the Jews destroyed during the siege, Josephus reckons not less than ONE MILLION AND ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND,
to which must be added, above TWO-HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SEVEN THOUSAND who perished in other places,
and innumerable multitudes who were swept away by famine, and pestilence, and of which no calculation could be made.

Not less than two thousand laid violent hands upon themselves. Of the captives the whole was about NINETY-SEVEN THOUSAND. Of the Two great leaders of the Jews, who had both been made prisoners, John was doomed to a dungeon for life ; while Simon, together with John, in triumph at Rome was scourged, and put to death as a malefactor.
=====================================

Eze 5:
2 “You shall burn with fire one-third in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are finished; then you shall take one-third and strike around it with the sword, and one-third you shall scatter in the wind: I will draw out a sword after them.
12 ‘One-third of you shall die of the pestilence, and be consumed with famine in your midst; and one-third shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter another third to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.

Mat 24:7
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
Mar 13:8
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
Luk 21:11
There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.
===========================

Rev 16:2
The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
Rev 16:11
and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.

Rev 9:15
And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.
Rev 9:18
A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths.

Revelation 18:
15The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning; 16saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!
17For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.' Every shipmaster, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,
18and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying, 'What is like the great city?' 19They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!' For in one hour is she made desolate.

At the time of Christ, earth's population was around 300 million. "a third of mankind" so that would be 100 million killed at the 6th trumpet...with some kind of strange horses with fire in their mouth and in their tail.
Sorry, nothing even CLOSE has ever happened. If someone suggests either of the world wars? Sorry, God's prophecies are far more precise than any preterist understanding of scripture. If someone suggests modern helicopters? Sorry, still never has been any war or battle with helicopters that has killed one third of mankind (men, women, children) in a short period of time.

The only sane conclusion is that these events are future, not in history.

Please ref. to "Horae Apocalipticae" - Elliot for details.
If Horae imagines that any of the trumpet judgments happened in the past, he must also think that God became very sloppy in prophecy in the New Testament. When God tells us one third of mankind is killed, I believe Him.

Yeah, the Jews would love this book!

Rev 11:5
And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies.
And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner

Rev 9:17
17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone.
18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed—by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths.

I don't even know if they read it...but I doubt if they understand much of it if they do.
