What are you implying here?

LOL! I don't know, just pointing out something interesting. There have been requests for Christian advice, then they never show up again, aren't they interested in the answer? I don't know why they don't, maybe they got the answer, or don't like the answer.
Oh, You did show up again. Good for you. Some of these posts, the op never shows up again, just leaves the rest to agree or disagree amongst themselves.

Now, how come I have gone up in several airplanes and have seen the curvature of the earth, but you haven't? All anybody has to do is go to the edge, take a picture and prove it. Why in all these 1000's of years, has no one seen the edge?? There are no eye witness accounts of I, there are no drawing from an eye witness account, only the surmising's of some individuals. Photography has been around a long time now, and videos. Well, we have tons of photos and videos of a sphere, and you have not one picture or video of a flat earth--why? This dome that covers the earth, as it nears the edge, the height of the dome gets closer and closer to the earth, You don't even have to go very far up to get a picture of this dome. Or are you a flat earther that doesn't believe in the dome over head?

I will not post any comments on this ludicrous idea of the earth being flat. And to those of you presuming that scripture supports such an idea, I can only give you the statement that Jesus gave the Sanhedrin, "You don't know scripture."

"Where is this place called Hell?" It exists where the fullness of the Living God is not! How hot is Hell? Brimstone hot! Just look at the tormenting decisions that you encounter so often during your day to day lives. Believe and trust on Jesus? Or do you call on the 'chariots and horses' to save you?(Valley of the Shadow of Death; Kidron Valley; Valley of Decisions). Revelation calls it the 'Outer Darkness'; where those that refused Jesus will be tormented by their own 'Worm'(what you did or did not do [example only]).

"Repent"= totally change the way you think; how you perceive, or see. You are not able to understand scripture unless you have been 'enabled' by God (invited).
"Jesus"= the Word of God, the Truth; the Way; the Door, etc.
To be a Christian, or better defined by Father as to be a Son of God, is not to be a clique, or some member of a well known club. It is the result of seeking the Word of God for the Truth! To understand scripture one must DRAW near to God.
The whole of the bible is written as a parable. Jesus told His Disciples this much after teaching the multitude of peoples from a mountain(side). Jesus explained that it was for the disciples to understand, but not the common people He had spent the day teaching.

Spend your idle time seeking the Truth within the Word of God, Holy Spirit will teach you His Truth, and you should forget your theology beforehand because God does not care for your personal ideas of Him.

Love you all!!

I am a Christian but have not yet read the Bible from front to back. I saw this question and my thought is this, we as humans can create our own heaven or hell on earth by what we do to ourselves and what we believe. But when we die we will all be judged. And when we die we will see all. There is a world we can not see. Just like we can not see a soul, we can not see heaven but believe me it's there. If you see this as wrong, there is no reason to crucify me!!.... (see what I did there)

If you are truly born from above then whether or not you have read much, or no bible at all, as of yet, just because you heard the simple Gospel and believed only. Seek the face of God and be shown the Truth (don't forget to ask). And I was never singling you out Rob.

Sorry, saw this come in my email and even though I'm never on this site---I couldn't resist.

"hell" is gahenna, the Valley of Hinnom. Look at the picture of Jerusalem from above. Look below the southern wall. In 70A.D. they threw dead bodies(corpses) over that southern wall because the city was overflowing with blood, death, and decay. You couldn't even walk around without stepping on dead bodies per historical records. If you don't believe me about this, I would dare suggest you've not really studied what happened to Jerusalem in and around that time period when they were sieged.

If you want Scriptural references to prove it in a very basic sense, look at Mark 9:42-48. Jesus directly links gahenna to Isaiah 66:24 by quoting it. Go read Isaiah 66:24 now and you'll see it's clearly about corpses rotting and decaying in the dump.

Now I know some fundies are going to disagree with me and go right ahead---I used to be exactly like you all. I actually went out in the streets and preached about people going to hellfire for eternity not too many years ago now. I know what you claim, just hope you can keep researching and get set on your butt humbly like I did a few years ago.

As for the "flat earth"--it's a misunderstanding that the writers of the Scripture used "land/earth" to refer to the land around them locally and Israel most often. It rarely, if ever is used to mean "globe" or "whole earth" like we define it today. It's simply people are superimposing a modern definition of "earth" into the Scriptures that the authors never meant.

You do know those are not definitive, right? Sorry. People have been there by the hundreds. There are thousands of satellites ORBITING the earth and orbit is physically impossible on a flat earth. Besides that, you haven't explained why a triangle drawn between three cities across the planet don't have angles equalling the euclidean rule of flat triangles having 180 degrees of angles.

The pictures Red Bull and SpaceX and every idiot who can get hold of a cheap camera and a weather balloon or simply climb into an airplane can get show it without any editing. And so I'm going to guarantee there was editing on your videos, since they were designed and performed by people with a vested interest in proving your theory, while nobody in the real scientific field gives a flying flip that your theory exists. They don't use your math. They don't secretly control all those people who go to Antarctica.

I'll be quite frank, there is zero evidence of a flat earth. Zero. It's just tin foil hat nonsense. There is nothing really controversial about it. The controversy is the same as antivaxxers who think it's nice to put MY health at risk in real life because of the IMAGINED health risks they make up. It's not because there is any disagreement in REAL science. It's that people want to make a controversy out of nothing.

You want to prove the earth is flat? go to the edge of the earth and take a picture of it. There's enough of you guys to go make it happen. But you can't. I will accept NOTHING short of you taking a physical picture of the edge of the earth. I want the picture to be taken within 2 meters of the edge of the earth. Do not tell me you have proof the earth is flat without PROOF. People say the earth is spherical and then they went out there and saw it with their own eyes.

But that's all you are: all talk, no action. All bark. No bite.

Edit: notice the curve of the wing on the plane in your video? That's a fixed wing aircraft with straight edged wings. The wing shouldn't curve like it does in the video. That's empirical evidence that your video was altered using video editing software to give a false impression of a flat horizon.

This guy has a lot of good flat earth videos for anyone interested. I just watched this one.

I like many others believe that the world is flat, there is insurmountable evidence to believe so, but one question I have always asked the marble earth believers is "where would hell be?" I'd be more than happy to explain why the marble earth "theory" is incorrect and how the bible proves it.

People have flown around the world countless times.

You can even do it yourself.

There is "internet research" and then there is real research.
The traditional explanation that a burning rubbish heap in the Valley of Hinnom south of Jerusalem gave rise to the idea of a fiery Gehenna of judgment is attributed to Rabbi David Kimhi's commentary on Psalm 27:13 (ca. A.D. 1200). He maintained that in this loathsome valley fires were kept burning perpetually to consume the filth and cadavers thrown into it. However, Strack and Billerbeck state that there is neither archaeological nor literary evidence in support of this claim, in either the earlier intertestamental or the later rabbinic sources (Hermann L. Strack and Paul Billerbeck, Kommentar zum Neuen Testament aus Talmud and Midrasch, 5 vols. [Munich: Beck, 1922-56], 4:2:1030). Also a more recent author holds a similar view (Lloyd R. Bailey, "Gehenna: The Topography of Hell," Biblical Archeologist 49 [1986]: 189.
Source, Bibliotheca Sacra / July–September 1992
Scharen: Gehenna in the Synoptics Pt. 1
Note there is no “archaeological nor literary evidence in support of this claim, [that Gehenna was ever used as a garbage dump] in either the earlier intertestamental or the later rabbinic sources” If Gehenna was ever used as a garbage dump there should be broken pottery, tools, utensils, bones, etc. but there is no such evidence.
“Gehenna is presented as diametrically opposed to ‘life’: it is better to enter life than to go to Gehenna. . .It is common practice, both in scholarly and less technical works, to associate the description of Gehenna with the supposedly contemporary garbage dump in the valley of Hinnom. This association often leads scholars to emphasize the destructive aspects of the judgment here depicted: fire burns until the object is completely consumed. Two particular problems may be noted in connection with this approach. First, there is no convincing evidence in the primary sources for the existence of a fiery rubbish dump in this location (in any case, a thorough investigation would be appreciated). Secondly, the significant background to this passage more probably lies in Jesus’ allusion to Isaiah 66:24.”
(“The Duration of Divine Judgment in the New Testament” in The Reader Must Understand edited by K. Brower and M. W. Ellion, p. 223, emphasis mine)
G. R. Beasley-Murray in Jesus and the Kingdom of God:
“Ge-Hinnom (Aramaic Ge-hinnam, hence the Greek Geenna), ‘The Valley of Hinnom,’ lay south of Jerusalem, immediately outside its walls. The notion, still referred to by some commentators, that the city’s rubbish was burned in this valley, has no further basis than a statement by the Jewish scholar Kimchi (sic) made about A.D. 1200; it is not attested in any ancient source. ” (p. 376n.92)

The earth is only 6,000 km deep and there is absolutely no way for hell to exist in that space. It would need to be much bigger.

Awesome I thought I was going to be stuck there. I die daily :(

Interesting thing about some of these posts----the OP will come on maybe once or twice, then never shows up again. I've noticed that on some of the posters that ask for advice, also.
Don't know about you but when I signed up here I looked around posted in the welcome center and did not get involved in posting until getting the lay of the land and seeing if there were topics already posted.

The word "Hell" should not be in the Bible; it is never a translation of a Greek or Hebrew word; what one should read in the Bible is words like grave, tomb and rubbish tip. The concepts of Hell come from Greek mythology while the word hell is an old English word for hole; a hole in the ground six foot deep.

No. He doesn't. It's a nice setting for a fiction novel, but terry Pratchett did a much better job. At least his had a story.

are you going to actually respond to anything I brought up? or are you going to quote rhetoric and say "look at this liar"? Yes, I called him what he is. A liar. Period. End of discussion. Neither I nor God has any space for liars.

No curve. I have flown dozens of times and never seen a curve either.

Some people will post vids and pics that use a fisheye lens forcing a curved view.
Why do they do that? Obviously they don't think the earth is flat and so don't care? Or they want to promote the spherical globe curve.

No fish eye lens on this balloon flight and no curve seen.

The curvature is plainly visible in both photographs.
