This is not a tragedy. A tragedy is an accident. This was a calculated, premeditated plan by someone who clearly is just a sadist and has no regard for human life.

I'm glad you acknowledge that the problem was with the person who committed the crime.

Well, Don't blame the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA, and I don't own a gun. But blaming the NRA is pointless. While they are contributors to the Republican campaigns, they don't have the political clout that many people think they have. Planned Barrenhood contributes much more to politics than the NRA.

And contribute to the eliminations of more lives.

Really? Because the students were not killing each other when my dad was in high school, even though they had the tools. What changed?

People will always want to kill people, no matter the time period. The question is how do we keep it low?
The United States has the highest homicide rate of all industrialized nations. The United States has least strict gun control laws of all industrialized nations. Louisiana has the most permissive gun control laws in the USA and the highest homicide rate of any state.

Britain banned semi-auto guns. Australia banned semi-auto guns.

Germany requires gun permits for all gun owners. No permit, no legal right to own a gun. They do background checks on everyone requesting a gun permit and have a one year waiting period.

The US should have universal background checks, gun permits and ban semi-automatic guns.

People who own guns are more likely to die of gunshot wounds than people who do not own guns.

How are all these nut jobs (or rather people with evil hearts) able to get these guns? Are they just lying around waiting to be picked up? Just upholding the second amendment is not going to make these shootings go away. I agree, we need better law enforcement and mental health facilities. But we also need to keep out of these people's hands weapons that can be easily converted into semi-automatics.

Guns are never more important than people.
Then fix the people. It's not the guns fault the ammo explodes.
And if the gun did not fire, you still have the people-problem left.

Do you want more kids to die? Do you want more people in general to die? Then enforce background checks before every purpose, and do not sell weapons that can easily be converted into semi-automatics.
That is a hysterical, emotional response which does not address anything I said. Please tell me what I said which made you think I wanted more kids or people in general to die? I asked for a reasoned response and I get left wing propaganda. You evidently do not know what you are talking about. A semi-automatic fires one bullet each time the trigger is pulled. I'm not sure but I think you meant "converted to full automatic." Which fires continuously until the trigger is released.
.....As far as I know there has only been one mass shooting in recent history involving full automatic weapons in the US, that was in Las Vegas. All the others involved semi-autos. The only other one I know of was the Saint Valentines day massacre in 1929
Background checks are being enforced.

Pretty much. Well, the culture, is what I would say. The same generation that gave us free love also gave us no fault divorce. Then, being the peaceniks there were, raised a culture of mass murderers. The overwhelming majority of these high school gunmen are boys who had little to no father presence in their upbringings. The income of a neighborhood is not a reliable predictor of violent crime. The incidence of single mother homes is.

Yes I hear myself and my heart goes out to them. But you don't spank the good guys because some nut job took advantage.
Never mind the fact that several of these shootings involved kids using their parent's guns. "Don't spank the good guys," but when guns owned by the good guys wind up in the hands of bad guys what are we supposed to do?

That is a sad truth and they need to be kept locked and accessible to children.

District of Columbia rates are twice Louisiana with strong laws.

I don't see any sources quoted. I think your Louisiana reference is nonsense. Alaska has the highest rate.

I don't know what the solution is. Seriously. I don't give jack about politics. But I do care about how Christians now tend to idolize guns. For every 100 people, there are 88 guns within the United States. (Mccarthy, Beckett, & Glenza, 2017) It is estimated there are about 265 million guns in U.S. citizen hands. These numbers might seem outlandish, but this is largely because roughly half of these guns are owned by a mere 3 percent of the population.
I know plenty of Christians and some of them own plenty of guns. One actually used to own a gun shop, yet none of them have gone off the handle. In fact I am 26 have lived in this same county my whole life and I can only remember ONE shooting ( I think it was a shooting) that happened a few years back. We are in GA so this county has been here over 200 YEARS and do you know during that time we have had ONE police officer shot and killed. That was 8-5-95 and the ONLY reason I know that is because I looked him up on the website that tracks fallen law enforcement officers. It is NT the guns.

Kid used a sawed off shotgun, which is already illegal. Same school had a school shooting threat called in to police a couple of months ago, supposedly regarding this same kid. What exactly are you wanting?
Sounds to me that that is on the authorities you cannot blame the guns for that.

You still are not addressing the problem of mentality.
You are right and as I have stated before, Kids must be taught from the beginning what guns are used for. I was raised with em, We killed things and we ate them, I knew it killed when something needed dispatched like a chicken or a hog or a coyote in the hen house or a bear.
I knew as a child what a gun would do and also knew I would get a busting for touching one.
