Its a sad situation but first things first and remember he to was just a kid from the same school.

As this does not excuses the act it is a major factor.

He is not a monster or just some guy, he is a confused school kid who was never taught gun safety or was never looked into.

What we need is more people involved in there kids life, knowing everything, what is in there computers and what they are saying to others.

If we knew our kids better, no gun crimes would happen this way, not one.

Its time to start being parents and not friends to our kids, teaching them respect and love.

In the old days this would never happen and never did, why?

Kids where raised and not ignored, And they where taught things and always busy working at something.

But now??? Kids are all in there violent video games and movies.

Yes, I create video games, But not violent ones and also they are about God.

So, my point is, If this kid was raised and loved, I know for a fact he would not kill any one or want to die.

He rote he wanted to kill himself

You dont want to kill your self unless you are neglected or abused in some way.

End of rant, sorry,lol.

There is a difference in living by the sword and using guns for self-defense/food.

He says single mothers and gays deserve a stigma as they're bad for society. He has no idea what pain these people deal with. He has no idea what it means to love the marginalized and abused and "sinners."

"Bigot", in this usage, is a word that means "person who says things I don't like but know I can't refute". Note how she calls me a bigot, but then goes on to say ACTUALLY bigoted stupidity like "religion is bad for society" and "religion says "us vs them", which is mad Dick Dawkins kind of anti-theist nonsense:

Religion is bad for society as well, and Christianity is not a religion no matter what evangelicals say. It wasn't seen as a religion in the days of Rome. The Christians in fact back then were called Atheists.

Religion says, "The good people are in and the bad people are out." Jesus says, it's the humble who are in and the proud who are out.

Alaina Kleinbeck: Thoughts, prayers and condolences are not enough | Faith and Leadership

Religion says "the good people are in and the bad people are out"... you mean, like how you said I, the Big Bad Bigot, am OUT, and you refuse to associate with me?

Yeah, it's that old saying: If you want to know what a progressive is up to, just listen carefully to what she accuses her opposition of doing.

You don't need to use a gun to kill yourself.
no, you do not, but the point was that in two thirds of cases that is how a gun is used it does not kill others; rather is used to kill the person that used it.

The same could be said for a conservative. And bigots, by the way, are the proud.

the commonality is men and mostly semiautomatic weapons/automatic
Sorry, no.
Thousands, or tens of thousands or millions of men own weapons and never use them to hurt anyone, let alone a mass shooting.

Try these search terms - it was enlightening! Could be for others >>
search online [ mass shootings all on medicine ]
at one time, ALL of them were thus related, with no known exception...

Some children seem to do fine with them, Some do not fair so well as witnessed by the ones who go crazy.
The courts actually forced parents to pay legal fees when parents tried to sue and make that argument, so even a court of law has found otherwise.

..do you believe that the solution is to leave all the guns exclusively in the hands of those who hold them illegally? because this kind of emotional response won't help the possible future victims whom you wish to help.

No, instead "well regulated" -- like the 2nd Amendment says -- sounds wise to me.

For us to use our common sense in laws. Common sense you or me may recognize as sensible. For instance, to close loopholes in already existing laws, so that they have the effect they were intended, for instance regarding criminal background checks for every type of sale.

Just the common sense stuff that like 2/3rds or more of all gun owners would agree to, as a start. That would go far. Where i grew up, gun owners have common sense and would consider certain weapons obviously meant to murder people. If this latest killer had an AR 15, he could have murdered many more.

This is why so many of us have difficulties with the religious right.

Why can't you just admit that you are extremely conservative, politically, or that you greatly fear offending your extremely conservative donors?

Comparing mass shootings using assault weapons with not allowing prayer in public schools, single parent homes, abortion, an extremely controversial but legal procedure and the politics of those hated "liberals" is just reprehensible.

The public has no need for military assault weapons. These weapons are designed for law enforcement and the military. The opinion that outlawing these killing machines from the general public will "just be the first step in taking away my freedoms" sickens me.

I am a Christian who wants to love like Jesus, who never called for a theocracy. His kingdom is not of this world.

It seems to be common sense to me that if you immerse yourself in false stuff long enough that you will not fully recognize reality. Speaking of which, I'm going fishing :]

Not honestly and accurately, it couldn't.

But ... bigots are THE PROUD? Really? How can you keep a straight face? I can't think anyone so proud as the perverts, having their PRIDE parades, waving their PRIDE FLAG around, and being so PROUD about their perversion.

I always thought a bigot was someone "obstinately and intolerantly devoted to his own opinions". But hey, I just got it from the dictionary.

Anyway, I'm still wondering what your thoughts are on what changed: why high schools could literally hand the guns to teens back then and everyone was safe, but today, with all the strict control, we have all these shootings. It's not the tools. It's gotta be something else. May I suggest, perhaps, the culture? The rise of secular progressivism and its attack on the family, human nature, and objective morality; the substitution of sins like lying and adultery and perversion and replacement with stupid focus on nonsensical things like "bigotry" and "intolerance"?

Keep seeking the actual common denominator... I think you'll see it soon....
While video games are unhealthy and can break families up, and worse,
they are not the primary culprit....

God cares about people more than your guns.
Of course God cares about people more than guns. But GUNS ARE NOT THE ISSUE. It is naive to blame guns, when responsible gun owners and sane citizens do not go on rampages.

As I have mentioned above, this type of madness can be easily prevented and deterred, if there is a will to do something concrete and realistic about the issue. Blaming guns is a cop out. People have literally had decades to come up with a proper plan, but it seems that only band aid solutions are sought.

Even though this is true, other weapons and other methods would be used if those were not available. So that is not the answer.

You clearly have no idea what it's like to put yourself in the shoes of those who are suffering. I'm a Christian because I recognize I'm not good or open-minded. Nobody is, and neither are you. You're like the older brother in the Prodigal Son story, judgmental, angry, demanding his rights, yet it was the Father, God, who said they had to celebrate because the prodigal son had returned.
