Saying that the Old Testament justifies murder is problematic for several reasons:
1. If we start basing our laws off of Levitical law, where do we draw the line? I know it gets brought up in every thread on this subject, but does that mean that laws permitting the stoning of disobedient children become justified also?

2. Our government is Constitutionally required to remain religiously neutral. Thus, basing our justifications (rationalizations) for the death penalty is an intermingling of two things that should be separate: church and state.

3. The Bible also says, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and "vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord". As much as you can find rationalizations for putting criminals to death, you can find an equal number of verses saying the opposite.

In God's eyes, there is no separation of Church and State. Christians make the laws.

I have conversed with some who were of the opinion that innocents being put to death were a price worth paying to keep the death penalty. I cannot agree.

Well, according to what God said to Noah concerning the death penalty, He cannot agree with you either. So, I guess that evens things out.

Actually, no. God makes the laws. He has His ways to motivate governments to enact and uphold most of them, usually without any Christians intervening. He as much said that to Nebuchadnezzar when He essentially forced Nebuchadnezzar to declare that God rules the affairs of men and sets up and deposes whom He wills.

How does God motivate our government to enact laws?

And if it's repealed? What then?
During the Israelites 40 years Wilderness wandering, God fed them with mana. No other nation can claim being fed by God in such a miraculous way. Yet, in spite of God's goodness to them, they murmured against Him and lusted after meat instead, cursing the mana with which God had been feeding them. So, He gave them meat. And they gorged themselves on it till they were vomiting and many died. I have no doubt that it was God's will to give them what they lusted after, in order to teach them a lesson. The lesson being, lusting for that which you have not labored can be fatal.

Since 312 AD, God has ruled the earth through Christian nations. The US is the 4th Christian superpower to rule the earth. Our weapons bring hell and death to the enemies of Jesus.

But only the enemies of Jesus who do not threaten us right? The non-Christian nations that don't threaten us are allowed to be spared of this; hell and death from our weapons. But if someone does not believe in Christianity, they are still an enemy of Jesus, correct?

Do I have that right?

An enemy of Jesus is anyone who threatens or attacks Christians. They must be killed.

Which conservatives attitudes do you think that about? jw

The dominant male class's intolerant and repressive attitudes toward the Other, particularly: women, minorities (ethnic, language, religious, sexual), foreigners, immigrants, diversity, multiculturalism.

There is no such thing as a Christian nation. When Jesus comes to rule on this earth it will be on the "Throne of David".. that would be Israel. If anything USA is a part of the Roman Empire which fell apart.

"Christian" always apply to an individual and never to a nation.

For the death penalty to be effective we don't need women and weak men on the jury of a murder trial. Anyone who afraid of an innocent person may accidentally be put death shouldn't be making the tough decisions like the death penalty. (the same with war) Innocent people are killed every day by automobiles (killed by someone else misjudgement) but no one is crying automobiles should be made illegal.
