  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's the weather like where you are? (10)

Cloudy and rainy... again

Be patient, musicalpilgrim :). The Norwegian weather forcast just suggested an export of our local snow weather for at least Scotland and possible UK within a week's time.

Looks like a picture from the movie by Hitchcock called "The Birds" :D
We have a line outside our North facing window that looks similar, regularly with a line of birds :)

I realized the other day that I haven't seen a sparrow in months. It made me sad and a little fearful. So I have some birdseed coming and I hope that is the only reason why they are gone. We have doves and mocking birds.
We are in the early 70's and moving to 80 by the end of the week. Unheard of in January. Usually in the 60' A drop of rain for the whole year and the hottest Summer that I can remember. Really strange altogether.

We have more sparrows and other birds in the winter time; here in the PNW then we used to; so they must be coming north.

A local bird person; ornithophile I think they are called; from the Oregon State University; said in a article in the local paper; that more birds that used to migrate south in the winter; now stay here year round. Something to do with the climate change.

Freezing drizzle has been observed across the area early this morning. Multiple reports of icy roads and sidewalks have been received. The freezing drizzle may be mixed with light snow at times, and is expected to end late this morning. Freezing drizzle is possible again tonight. ### Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice.

In my neck of the woods is has generally been just below freezing at night and just above freezing during the day.
In the UK we have a mixture, rain at the moment and lots of it :)

I have not posted for some time as we have not had any significant weather here in the Mohawk Valley of Upstate New York for a number of weeks. Temperatures have been above average, especially low temperatures and the daily range in temperature has been small. The broad majority of time it has been overcast but with limited precipitation. Snow cover has been limited and much of the ground has recently been bare. However we did have a couple of inches of snow last night, even though temperatures remained above freezing.

Between cloudy and rain (today) and cold and frosty at other times. Temps a little below or a little above freezing.

As a Brit I would love your snow HisCrossMyPeace - I much prefer it to the rain we have now. :)

I imagine Norway having cold but crisp and clear sunny winter days. Am I right? :)

Winter Weather Travel Advisory in effect for this afternoon and tonight. Cold northwesterly winds will generate lake effect snow squalls beginning this afternoon and could persist into Wednesday morning. These snow squall bands will continuously shift over the region which will limit the snowfall amount over a given location. A total snowfall accumulation of 10 to 15 cm is expected by Wednesday midday. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to heavy snow and blowing snow. Difficult winter travel conditions are expected.

It's 30* and lightly snowing. I still don't have any boots, so far there's been barely any snow on the ground and I'm praying that the snow stays away all winter. And I'm praying also that I find some snug boots to wear.

Winter Weather Travel Advisory in effect for this morning. Lake effect snow squalls will continue to affect the area this morning. Additional snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are possible by late this morning when the squalls end. Visibilities will be significantly reduced at times due to heavy snow and local blowing snow, making travel difficult. Motorists are advised to exercise caution or consider postponing travel.

And here I come saying today was 35C rising over the next fee days to 41C Sunday and 42C Monday.
I don't like Summer anyway but this year it hadn't been too bad, at least the nights cooled down and we could get some relief.
Over the weekend the nights are still going to be around 20C, which makes for uncomfortable for sleeping.
Send us some rain, it is just tinder dry here.

Lake effect snow squalls late this afternoon and this evening. Additional snow squalls Friday and Friday night. Locally heavy snow squalls have developed over Georgian Bay and will move across the area this evening. Locally heavy snow and reduced visibilities in blowing snow will make travel difficult at times. Travelers should consider changing their travel plans accordingly. Up to 15 cm of new snowfall will be possible under these snow squalls before they move south of the area tonight. After a brief lull tonight, additional local snow squalls are expected Friday and Friday night. Additional snowfall amounts from these squalls could exceed 30 cm by Saturday morning. ### Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Praying for rain in Australia and safe conditions in Canada (or at least the parts of those countries affected by these severe - if opposite - weather conditions).

Here, in the UK, there has been flooding in/near Manchester, which is my nearest city. I think the Mersey flooded it's banks. Some of the water was diverted onto flood plains, but despite the best efforts certain homes have been evacuated. (I feel sorry for those affected by floods; it's not just the water but all the dirt which goes with it.) The floods were thought to have caused a sink hole and some houses collapsed as a result. There was a clip on The News. Someone shouted "get back" and the fronts of the houses fell down. No-one was hurt thankfully, but not nice for the residents. :(

We're several miles away and had some beautiful snow yesterday. Almost gone now and just wet instead, but I'm so thankful not to be flooded.
