Today is my wife's 30th birthday and she is such a blessing and a wonderful mother to our son. We just moved almost 400 miles last week to Idaho and we both love it. But leaving her hometown and her family, she's handled it so well...

We need some time for just the two of us. The problem is that I’m not ready to leave the baby overnight because I have had to leave him overnight for the first month he was alive, and I am breastfeeding. Having to schedule around feeding and pumping makes it hard to have a decent chunk of time.

Spoke with my beloved about the life expectancy of type 1 diabetics, of which I'm one. Women with this disease live, on average, to the age of 68. I'm more than halfway there already! But he reassured me that the best years are ahead. I may also do better than the older examples because I was diagnosed in the 1990s; people much older than me didn't have access to the kind of precise blood sugar technology that we type 1s have today. So hopefully I can have a few more years, God willing.

Nice to have a parent who enjoys math. My wife is a science person. She's pretty good at math. I don't know how I passed my college courses in math.

I’ve been changing how I see my work lately through the eyes of Jesus. I read something about working as though you’re working for the Lord and not just humans so seek to display the fruits of the Holy Spirit and not work for vain glory. It has brought immense peace and joy to my workday!
