Everyone, please pray for my safety, as I am taking a spontaneous trip - leaving right now - to see my dog Tallulah in Houston. My mother is having to put her to sleep later this week, so this is my only chance, when I haven't been to Houston to see either of them in over a year due to Covid. Thankfully I don't have to be back home for anything until Tuesday, so I should have a solid half day or so there before having to come back.

Made it here about 2 hours ago. Mom and I watched a few episodes of this show that she somehow got me into, Flea Market Flip, where we enjoy critiquing and evaluating each piece of furniture that gets made/restored, while Tallulah slept next to me on the couch. Mom has gone to bed since she has work early in the morning, and since Tallulah is by now too feeble to move to a new spot for sleep, I decided to try staying on the couch with her for the night.

God willing Tallulah isn't in much physical pain right now, as Mom says she has an ear infection that the vet cannot do much about, and Tallulah doesn't seem to be showing that she actually is in pain unless you directly touch the ear. She also appeared to at least recognize me when I came into the house. But, you know she's definitely not who she used to be when she no longer barks for me coming to the door, you can see she's having some difficulty breathing, and she is obviously slow to move anywhere.

Here she is now.

She might not seem so bad at a glance in this picture, but, well, Mom would know better having lived with her and knowing what all illnesses and disabilities have afflicted her this past year or so. And she is 16 years old by now. Please pray with me that the Lord will minimize whatever pain she might be in her last few days alive. Going to the final sleep sucks enough as it is, much less her last leg of the journey to that sleep being a miserable one because of physical pain.

Thanks, Miss Multi. As my fellow lady knight, thanks for having my back.

I just saw the last of her. I am saddened, but, I am trusting in God that He will grant our prayers for her last days to be painless. I am leaving back for home, now. Thankfully Mom is feeling better than expected, since already at least one of our neighbors volunteered to be with her on Friday when the unfortunate deed must be done.

Sometimes I still miss talking with that one girl I was conversing with on POF last fall. She was easy to find on Facebook. It's crazy what can be found on that site with just a location and first name. I don't allow myself to contact her that way. It would be beyond inappropriate, and she'd be intensely creeped out.

This is finals week for my students. I've never been more glad to see the end of a semester. So glad. In fact, I'm seriously considering never teaching again. I don't think there is any point any longer.
