Maybe your generation, but I met quite a few women my age when I was trying to learn this kind of stuff & they were excellent at it. Not that they were going to make careers out of it, but have the skills nonetheless is a good thing for men & women both.

Unfortunately I think my lack of home improvement skills can be a turnoff. Thankfully I am financially blessed so hiring out help isn't usually a problem.

I wasn’t allowed to be a tomboy or overly masculine growing up. They wanted a lady and I was expected to behave. I view home improvement from a design and creative lens. I don’t have a burning desire to rip out walls. I just like beautiful spaces. It’s a means to an end.

I was stubborn. I got upset when they put my toys together. I wanted to do it myself.

I bought the place 5 years ago. Over that time, had to furnish it, paint, appliances, blinds, decorate it. So, no. This flooring project wraps all the big projects up.

Wow, you’ve done a lot. I’m impressed! That must be very satisfying. Although you struggled in classes I’d continue to take them and attend events. You’ll meet others who share your passion and its a great talking point.

It's okay. I guess I'm thankful for my own place.

Ugh, no, the actual home improvement tool parts aren't for me. Who knows tho, maybe that church group I'm trying to go to will want to do it for a service trip. But ugh, bad experiences in the past tho w/ those kinds of trips.

My experience in remodeling is quite limited: Painting my room, painting people’s’ houses on mission trips, some bathroom destruction at my old Baptist camp job, among other construction activities they had me do. I can’t really do anything if someone doesn’t tell me how to do it.

Decorating typically draws women and your projects are great conversation starters. There’s lot of blogs and local events you could attend. It’s easier to strike up a dialogue in a topic of strength. And there’s a growing demographic of Christian women doing the same.
