Obviously, having a toothache is a mundane sort of suffering and mostly no cause for alarm.

Still, man, like any kind of pain it can be - or at least seem - unbearable at times. So you still have my empathy.

Thank you. Tooth pain is the worst. I don't know why, but it brings everything to a standstill. This instance is calming down at this point, thank God, but for the last couple days it has been everything to concentrate and be productive.

On a sidenote (PSA), make your dentist appointments now, here in Virginia they are severely backed up.

not odd. I have had a raging toothache for two days, and I can't see my dentist until April. It's starting to calm down so I'm hoping it will pass until then.

They can empathize with us, they can listen and support us, but we must suffer our own pain, on our own.

question is: how do I suffer alone?

I'm so sorry that you are experiencing this. It is hard when others don't relate the same. I have had tooth pain from March up till November or so this year. They thought it was clenching my teeth at night and a device was made. But after many dental visits they finally said that I should see a TMJ. But my insurance doesn't cover it. I started noticing facial plain and sinuses, the dentist told me about massaging my face and jaw, and I noticed a big difference. In December I have had much more release, and feel like I can eat food a little bit better without the pain I was feeling. My teeth are totally perfect... I'm so sorry that you can't get on in April, that just plain sucks.

If we were in biblical times I would stand around you and moan and groan like the professional crying people did for those that were mourning the loss of someone. And to answer your question about suffering alone, I have no answer, I have done it... But at the same time I have had sympathizers around me. I've had so many situations where someone has offered advice with well-meaning, but not the support that I needed. Blessings and I will be praying for you.

I feel like I should clarify, which is probably absurd amongst good folks such as yourselves, but I do think this is the primary purpose of the cross, i.e. one can go through suffering. Avoiding suffering will not help, though we should try. What matters most is that I love even in the midst of it. If I can do that, the world is my inheritance.

Feeling good about just having finished a veggie tray, relish tray, crackers and nuts and varieties for coworkers tomorrow. Maybe I will put a picture up tomorrow morning. Not only will it help inspire healthier choices amongst my coworkers, but hopefully it can benefit me to get out of my habit of sugary sweets. Another coworker is going to try to make some kind of special muffins from a running athlete cookbook. I feel very blessed at this time, it's been a very long time in the 18 years with my agency since I have had such good relationships. I pray that it continues.

Aww, that is the hardest part about customer service types of jobs and such! Some people can be unbelievably rude or mean. I worked at a restaurant a few years ago and some days I had to step into bathroom to cry and take a deep breath and regain my composure before returning to my work! Whenever I go shopping or out to eat or such I try to always be extra kind to everyone who works because I appreciate the service and know it isn't always an easy job!

I think I get what you're trying to say. My father was like that before he died in July 2011. He was in continual pain but he kept reaching out and trying to be a father to us and also loving people that others could not love anymore. In his last month I was going through so much pain (before diagnosis of systemic lupus) with 10 lb of inflammation and every part of my body burning and my heart feeling like it was going to stop, but in the heat of that July before he passed, I remember walking through a parking lot and continuing through every step thinking of his example and how he thought of others in his pain. And not long after he had a heart attack and at his funeral I ended up in the hospital. Hemoglobin was at a 9 when it's supposed to be 12 I think and had passed out at the funeral being taken by an ambulance. I had lost 10 lbs within the week before and finally was diagnosed with systemic lupus. Later the nephritis was added on 4 months later and I had sciotoxin treatment since I was one step away from dialysis. I lost most of my hair wearing wigs for 2 years. I don't know if that relates, but I always think of my father and the pain that he had but his constant thinking of us daughters and listening and spending time on the phone with us through our problems. Anyways I don't know if that helps.

Wow, it sounds like you have gone through so much! I can't imagine what that must have been like to go through. I find your story inspiring and encouraging.

Thank you kindly, SarahsKnight! Fortunately it is all in the past! I am a very forgetful person at times, so although I remember how I felt, I no longer remember the specific instances or who the unkind people were anymore, which I am kind of glad about.

I can relate. I always joke with new associates when I'm showing them around the store. "Here's the electronics department, the bathrooms back here are way cleaner than the ones by the front door fyi. Here's the photo counter, the corner behind it is where I like to come to cry, please limit sessions to ten minutes or less."

Once in a while buddies from college try to call me. I want to try to move on from them. Some of our ideals have shifted. & college was a mixed bag for me (there were highs & it was overall a big improvement from high school, but some pretty bad lows too). I just want to try to put some of that in the past. I haven’t called them back in a year. I should, maybe at some point, but not now. I appreciate they want to stay in touch, but people drift apart, one lives on the other side of the country now, for example.
