I haven't used a calendar in years. I switched to a big dry erase board. But I love planners. That inspires me to buy gel pens, markers, color pencils, stickers and washi tape.

Basically it's a line drawn down the middle and tick marks on the side, and the tick marks are spiritual markers of when the Lord spoke to me.

It would be too long to put on a wall anymore. 3 years is probably quite enough.

I once drew a diagram with bar graphs. Representing the high points and the valleys through some of the decades. And those bar graphs had diamonds or different symbols representing God's work in my life. It's just a creative way to reflect on what God has done and what God has taught me so I may never forget and keep growing. Sometimes doing stuff like that brings closure.

For example this year I put together a video of my dating adventures and points of interest that the Lord worked in my life. So there's a little bit of symbolism and actions that I took to bring closure in some areas. It's just a small group of supportive friends that know about some of these closures and the journey that I've been on. It's a little bit of my creative side.

I have yet to meet somebody else who has done spiritual markers or a spiritual timeline.

I’m curled up with coffee and a notepad and clipboard. I drafted a guideline for the new year based on the word. I know the things I want to address.

I have the word, action, and principle. But then she advised us to choose an adjective as the focus. Which means surrender becomes submissive!

Thinking hard this morning on what 2021 is going to look like for my online dating approach. December of 2019 I started with a 3-year online dating plan. I think 2020 was a success as far as my development.

I'm hoping to expand my Social circles in 2021 and to continue the development of my health, accessorizing, figuring what's going to work for a lasting relationship & adjustments, stronger relationships with fellowship, balance with house/yard work and helping my parents with their place, and getting 2 areas of debt paid off. I'm building off of optimism from the progress that I saw in this past year compared to the 28 years before.

The bible tells us to count our days so we may gain a heart of wisdom. Emotions are wonderful, but they shouldn’t be in the drivers seat. Nor should loneliness or desperation be the catalyst for forming connections.

You can’t operate from your ache or void. You’ll never attract the person you could from that place. You’ll draw someone equally troubled. God’s alignments are purposeful. He isn’t the author of confusion.

He doesn’t send you on wild goose chases in matters of the heart or forge connections that oppose His plans and purposes for each. He’s the God of harmony.

The first thing you should consider is your kingdom mission. What is He leading you to do? What has He laid on your heart? Your divine mate has a comparable mission. You can’t move if your feet are pointing in opposite directions. You’re one flesh and headed the same way.

While movies promote the idea, I don’t think God establishes relationships where change or contortion are necessary for acceptance. They embrace us as-is. He plants a seed in both and waters it.

In my experience, the bonds He forges are significantly deeper than those we initiate ourselves. There’s a strength and sanctity that’s noticeably absent in others. You feel His presence. And the love is powerful.

I would keep the kingdom in mind when seeking a companion and restrain the flesh. It doesn’t know the way. Only He does. Listen to the Spirit and follow His lead.

Writing a bit in my prayer journal, the common themes I have seen this year are dominant thinkers rather than feelers. That's a definite shift relationally and in attractions. Teaching seems to stand out as something I want for a common connection. Voice, intelligence and words is also a common theme that carries over from prior years.

I still haven't figured out what kind of leader I'm looking for with faith, except for humility. It was the greatest thing to hear, like music to my ears, when my date in September had argued with me but could say I'm not a perfect man. It definitely makes for easier ground of communication and growth.

I definitely want a strong faith, but I still haven't figured out what a good match looks like. I like when scripture is shared with me, but if I don't feel inspired and growth and getting into the word, I'm questioning what this awkwardness I feel is if I'm looking for a grounded and strong Christian. It feels akin to what I felt when I had joined The navigators many years ago and they're heavy scripture memorization basis, it never felt like my niche and is something I've had to continually develop.
