Was running some stops earlier, and noticed someone pull up closeby in a 1954 Ford Ranchero. He was proud to show it off, and had no problem giving me a look in the interior and at the engine, very cool.

Wow, what a cool old vehicle! Nice color too. :) I bet that was an awesome experience. :bluecar:
Yes mam! I love seeing vintage and classic vehicles like that. He even had the radio tuned to an oldies station, and for some reason had two minion figures on the dashboard, lol.

I like cars from the latter half of the 20th century. That truck looks like it's in excellent condition considering it's from the 1950's. He must have either gotten an excellent deal or he took darn good care of that vehicle.
He said he bought it from an older guy for $627, believe it or not; I guess that seller was looking to just get rid of it. Most of the parts are all original, but he did a lot of work on it himself.

... Oh, okay, um ... I think I can do this. Just place one hand over the kneecap, then the other on my ankle this way, and ... *deep breath* ....

Craaaaaaack!

... *a moment later after gritting my teeth against the recurring waves of horrendous pain to keep from passing out* ..... Now, um, ... how is this going to help me tomorrow morning, again?

$627?! That's a steal for a vintage car! If that means it was in poor condition, then I guess he did a lot of work on it indeed!

I mean, just from looking at the pictures it looks brand new!
For sure, it's a thing of beauty. Most vehicles here are all modern, but I still see some classic VWs off and on - rarely, Pierce-Arrows and others.

@SarahsKnight: Bring home the bacon! (lol a less violent idiom ^_^)

Oh great, what have I started. ^_^

I've actually been trying to think up more idioms all day, but can't think of anymore lol. My reputation is on the line here, hmm.

Yeah. After seven months off from work I do feel it is time to start bringing home that hard-earned paycheck again. I miss that feeling. ^_^ (Dr. Pepper was SO not worth 17 an hour, though.)

Albemarle will likely pay even cheaper than Dr. Pepper did, but the cost of living in a town as small and quaint as Magnolia will be way less anyway. Plus there won't be all these places and attractions to be tempted to spend money so frivolously on unlike Houston, so overall, I should be saving pretty well if I get this job back with Albemarle.

I'll start coming home again to my own dang place, too, and tired from hard work but far less likely with a headache from all that nonsense going on at Dr. Pepper.

yes anthony, you should take full responsibility of this...SK needs a good supply of idioms...

we should create a committee of dedicated idiom makers, visionaries who can successfully construct and combine simple words into vague complex meanings...

Here's my attempt....my contribution to the idiom maker's committee...

"Flip that pancake!"

It would mean grab that opportunity to cook the other side....or in other words...opportunity is waiting...

:ahah:

I shall! Also, I nominate SK for the community, since this whole thing is his fault for going to Magnolia today. ^_^

Oh, I got one! "He's building his city on rock n' roll!" :ebil:

Edit: Wait that's terrible. :sorry:
